    “Boathyde is a lovely house with amazing views, good gaming facilities, and the fresh scones on arrival were a nice touch.”

    However, our stay was let down by several avoidable issues. On arrival, we were left a fob for the main gate, but the gate had been permanently jammed open. With a public trail running alongside the property, this was a security concern as anyone could easily access the grounds, and it also meant that it was not fully enclosed for our dog. The property also did not appear to have been thoroughly cleaned, with dust, cobwebs, dog hair, damp-smelling towels, and an unclean BBQ. The hot tub ...

With a public trail running alongside the property, this was a security concern as anyone could easily access the grounds, and it also meant that it was not fully enclosed for our dog. The property also did not appear to have been thoroughly cleaned, with dust, cobwebs, dog hair, damp-smelling towels, and an unclean BBQ. The hot tub also appeared dirty and foamed when the jets were turned on. We were not informed that gardeners would be attending during our stay. After messaging the property manager on the second day, we were told they would not be returning, however they were there for three days in total. This made it difficult to properly relax in the garden or let our dog roam freely. Overall, the property has a lot of potential but needs much better attention to cleanliness, maintenance, and communication.

The property

Boathyde is a delightful detached holiday home nestled near the beach in Northam, Devon.

Offering guests nothing but the best with their own private hot tub, a gym and a games room for some family fun, this property is not to be missed if you are looking for a luxurious escape to Devon.

Step inside and be welcomed by the slick interiors and spacious living rooms.

You'll find a wonderful open-plan area which contains the kitchen where you can whip up some home-cooked delights, the dining area which provides you with a space to share these meals and a sitting area where you can reminisce on the adventures of the day.

You can keep up to date with all your favourite shows on the Smart TV which is found in the separate sitting room.

When the sun is shining, take full advantage of the outdoors by dining alfresco-style or taking an indulgent dip in the hot tub to soothe any tired muscles.

There are other living areas including a utility which houses a washing machine and tumble dryer for longer stays, a study for when you want to get lost in a good book and a games room for an evening of competition!

Once you're all done for the day tuck into one of the spacious bedrooms, consisting of a mix of kings and super-kings, which are all fitted with en-suites so everyone can enjoy that added touch of privacy.

Boathyde is a perfect home base for a memorable Devon holiday.

The Mooring and Boathyde are a pairing of holiday homes resting on the outskirts of Northam, Devon. Start off with a trip down to the nearby Westward Ho! Beach, a dog-friendly space where you are all able to stretch your legs! Visit local Northam with a day at The BIG Sheep, a fantastic family day out great for lovers of cute animals and farm fun. Soak up the Devon sunshine in the lovely Victoria Park or try your luck at Carousel Amusements, a traditional British funfair. From there, take a stroll along the Appledore Quay, soaking up the beautiful harbour views. For culture enthusiasts, The Burton at Bideford Art Gallery and Museum offers fascinating exhibits. NORTHAM

Westward Ho! 1.3 miles; Bideford 2 miles; Barnstaple 11 miles.

Northam is a small village with a restaurant, pub, takeaway and small supermarket and lies on the hill above the lively village of Westward Ho! Westward Ho! has a two mile long glorious sandy beach, an excellent selection of cafes, bars and restaurants, a surf school and shops. The beach is popular for surfing and kite surfing, plus life guards are on duty during the summer season and there's a designated dog area. The Tarka Trail runs through Bideford and is especially popular with cyclists, with cycle hire, including child buggies and even dog buggies available here and at many places along the way. Northam Burrows is part of North Devon’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is enjoyed by walkers, and the Royal North Devon Golf Club is also here. For the more energetic the coastal path to Peppercombe and Clovelly offers stunning views along the coastline. From Bideford there are boat trips to Lundy Island, and nearby Appledore has fascinating narrow streets, interesting shops, fish and chips shops and a restaurant, as well as fishing trips. Family attractions nearby include the Big Sheep and Milky Way, as well as National Trust properties, Hartland Abbey, RHS Rosemoor and Dartington Glass. Also Clovelly is delightful with its quay, steep cobbled streets and donkeys and no cars are allowed down into the village. There's plenty to see and do from Northam.
