    • “Hornshayne farmhouse is fabulous house for large family gatherings. The kids (and adults!) can play in the stream, watch the cows being milked, collect eggs from the hens and enjoy being Incas working farm. The house is large and comfortable and the owners who live in an adjoining property are friendly and welcoming. We were lucky to have glorious weather in late October.”

    Mrs Ralph, October 2018

    • “We stayed at Hornshayne Farmhouse for a family 30th birthday celebration last weekend. We were a party of 8 adults, 2 children and our dogs. The farm was just perfect for our requirements. The children loved all the play facilities, so many toys, games, dvds and great outside play area. The older ‘kids’ enjoyed the table tennis, pool and table football in the play barn and the dogs had some lovely walks in the acres of farmland. Sally and Andrew made us very welcome and the highlight of our visit was definitely having a tour of the farm. We saw the cows being milked and a calf born that morning being fed. Our 6 year old grandson collected eggs from the chickens with Sally and we all enjoyed cuddles with Maud’s puppies! We would recommend a holiday here.”

    Mrs Pratt, DEVIZES, October 2018

    • “We enjoyed staying in this lovely old farmhouse; full of character yet plenty of modern facilities. We were slightly daunted by the narrow steep lanes that led to it but there was plenty to see and do in the area. We hope to return next year.”

    Mrs Quinn, Crowthorne, September 2018

    • “We greatly enjoyed the delightful gardens, play area and freedom to roam Hornshayne farm in the glorious Devon countryside. The owners were extremely helpful but also willing to give us the peace and relaxation we were seeking without intruding until asked. The farm tour which we requested was conducted in a most informative and interesting manner by the owner's two sons. A delightful week.”

    Mr Wraight, SALISBURY, August 2018

    • “As a couple with 3 children and 4 grandchildren, 11 of us in total, we have had a fantastic holiday. Andrew and Sally were a lovely helpful couple, who willing told us about there farm and what we could get involved in. Their two delightful sons gave us a guided tour of the farm as well one morning. Our young grandchildren were able to see cows being milked, calves being born, feed calves, fish for minnows in the nearby stream and build dams, fly kites on the hillside, see 3-day old puppies, chickens, pigs, cats dogs, and play safely in the garden with many toys to enjoy. We were also able to enjoy the local beaches and go mackerel fishing as well. All in all a wonderful family holiday. Thank you.”

    Mrs Eddy, BRACKNELL, August 2018

    • “We loved : The beautiful , atmospheric , old house and the tranquil location. The gorgeous Devon countryside Most of all the warmth and friendliness of the farm owners - the Hurfords”

    Mr Davis, Tonbridge, March 2018

    • “Owners very helpful. A very informative tour of farm by Charles aged ten.”

The Property

On the edge of Woodbridge hamlet, ¾ mile from Farway, is Hornshayne Farmhouse, a large, beautiful and imposing thatched farmhouse adjoining the owners’ cottage in the midst of this busy, working, 335 acre dairy/arable farm (you're welcome to help feed calves). There’s been a house here since Saxon times; ‘gentrified’ in the 1700s, this farmhouse retains many original and fascinating features (still a salting cupboard and ceiling chamber in the kitchen). Outside, plenty of open space (river for children's fun and tiddler fishing, ponds, walks over miles of unspoiled countryside with outstanding views, quiet roads to run) surrounding the pretty garden (picnic table, gas barbecue, giant draughts, unfenced shallow stream; great play castle, Wendy house and sandpit, shared with owners) and games barn (quarter-sized billiard table, table tennis, karaoke machine, TV, fridge, loo). Inside, living room (‘living flame’ fire, TV/DVD) and enormous hub-of-house kitchen/dining room (huge fireplace, oil-fired Rayburn, electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave, American-style fridge-freezer), both with original slate flag floor. Tiny games room (TV/DVD, PlayStation). Children’s playroom (toys). Shower-room (suite). Utility room (washing machine, tumble drier, sink). Upstairs, five bedrooms (all with TV, two with DVD) on three levels: Level 1: double with en suite bathroom (suite, shower over bath). Level 2: family bedroom (6' zip-linked double or twin and single bed) with en suite shower-room (suite, two washbasins); two double (one with 6' zip-linked double or twin); and bathroom (suite with corner bath and separate shower). Level 3 (attic): low lintel to very large master double (5' sleigh bed) with en suite bathroom (suite with roll-top bath plus hand-shower). Spring water. Professional catering and ready meals available. Damages Deposit £500. A comfortable, welcoming house with fascinating farm experiences for all generations.
