Reviews

    • “This was our 4th stay at Miners Dry. We enjoy the peacefulness of its locality and the nearness to the Tamar Trails which we enjoy walking with our dog. Also location is ideal for travelling to many tourist attractions.”

    Mr Hind, LEICESTER, April 2018

    • “Absolutely great !........ Wonderful welcome - cream tea etc. Cottage warm, cosy and friendly, area brilliant and peaceful - much needed...... and thank you so much for arranging the perfect weather . We will be re booking.”

    Mr Buckle, BRISTOL, April 2018

    • “Miners Dry is situated in superb walking country within the wooded Tamar Trials and the historical mining area. Didn't need a car for first 4 days as walked from the cottage, also good for birds, deer, bats etc. Recommend it.”

    Mr Burgess, Shrewsbury, April 2018

The Property

About a mile from Gulworthy, set in 2 acres of Nat. Heritage Site woodland, a totally private, secluded little detached single-storey house surrounded by a woodland garden (table/chairs, barbecue, 3 steps) - a fabulous spot for complete calm and oneness with the natural environment. The distinctive call of the elusive nightjar can be heard here, and don’t be surprised by deer walking through the garden. Once a drying house for miners’ working clothes, now an immaculate cosy cottage. From the garden, 3 shallow steps to door into living/dining/fitted kitchen (washer-drier, microwave, fridge, electric cooker) with inglenook (woodburner), TV/DVD and high beams. Roomy double bedroom (5' bed) with en suite shower-room (suite). Miles of woodland walking on the Tamar Trails from your doorstep (maps provided). No children. A brilliant, romantic, chill-out place.

Gulworthy: hamlet (outdoor activity centre/café, Horn of Plenty restaurant) 3 miles from Tavistock, deep in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just on the Devon side of the River Tamar (canoe expeditions). Nat. Trust Cotehele House and Buckland Abbey, 4 and 6 miles; Morwellham Quay (location of BBC's 'Edwardian Farm'), 4 miles. Plymouth with its shops, theatres, Nat. Marine Aquarium and historic Barbican, 11 miles.
