Harcombe House Pet Free Bungalow

Starting to look a little tired now.

Everything clean and tidy. Bar / restaurant on the site has closed.

We really enjoyed our week's stay at Harcombe House Bungalow 6.

The bungalow was clean, beds were really comfortable and the living area was well equipped and roomy enough for 6 of us. We would've liked to have been able to cast to thr TV to give us some more options of what to watch on an evening. When we booked the property, we had searched for properties with 2 bathrooms. We were therefore surprised to find 1 bathroom with only a sink and bath with overbath shower, and a separate toilet. As a 3 generation family visiting, so 4 adults (2 with toilet issues) and 2 teenagers this was a bit of a disappointment and the 1 toilet situation wasn't ideal. Also little touches like toilet roll and a washing up sponge, extra bin liners etc would have been appreciated, and taken the kitchen closer to the 'well equipped' level it was described as. Not a major issue but little things we did not expect to need to take/buy when we got there. The site itself was lovely and quiet. Although the bungalow only had one allocated parking space, we never struggled to park the 2nd car. The swimming pool (which needs to be booked) was excellent and we used this several times. There was a small games room and an onsite restaurant which we did not use - one of our party was Coeliac so we were unsure if they would cater for her. There is also a small playground which would be nice if you have younger kids. The ladies on the reception desk were really friendly and helpful.

I have just returned from Devon, having stayed in one of the bungalows at Harcombe House with my family and I can not give enough praise for the lovely, immaculately clean and spacious accommodation.

Waking up to the breath-taking scenery every morning was an absolute joy and being able to use the pool, tennis courts and wander down to the lake and around the estate was perfect for a relaxing break. The staff on site were extremely friendly and it was wonderful hearing how Harcombe House helps the Fire-Fighters’ Charity. The perfect location and accommodation for a restful break.

We came back for our second visit and absolutely loved it.

The bungalow is lovely and spacious, we were very happy there. Our kids love the pool and play area and also spent time fishing. It's perfect for us and close to lots of attractions, we will definitely be back.

It was a great base for our daughter's graduation in Exeter.

The main social area was roomy and light. Good value too. Really enjoyed the swimming pool. Even better if: 2 toilets, adequate towels on arrival (we only had 2 between 5 guests), easier booking for pool and gym etc. We needed to go backwards and forwards a lot to book the pool then collect the code etc

We had a great time.

Nice quiet and peaceful place with lovely surroundings and plenty of walks. Accommodation is roomy and clean. The only thing to note is that the separate room for the toilet is small and is a squeeze to open and close the door once you are in!

The bungalow was modern and very well kept but there's been some things that could have been improved.

Only one bedroom had a lamp, the rest didn't. It was difficult to find the sockets in the bedrooms as one was behind the wardrobe. Window seals could have been wiped outside as they were quite dirty. Also we didn't expect to be having to fill out forms to use the gym and swimming pool. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay.

What location, views of hills and wildlife, quite, tranquil,great walks and a fabulous pool. You will not be disappointed

We arrived with the expectation that the accommodation would be warm, safe, and ready to use.

Unfortunately, this was not the case. The property was cold on arrival, and the heating was not working until we located the boiler and manually started it. The hot water was dangerously hot throughout the stay, making the shower unsafe to use, and the exposed heating pipes were hot enough to burn if touched. The sleeping arrangements were also disappointing. The double bed was too small to use comfortably, and the single bed was extremely hard, making it impossible to sleep properly. Due to these issues — particularly the safety concerns — we left three days early. We raised our concerns when departing, but the response felt dismissive and uninterested. After running a holiday site myself for 10 years, I know what guests should reasonably expect on arrival. Sadly, this property did not meet basic standards of comfort or safety, and we would not return.

Bungalow very clean.

Spacious light and airy. Just only a few little snags. The toilet cistern was running a bit and needed a bit of TLC to stop after flushing. In the kitchen there was a badly scoured saucepan where the non stick coating was badly damaged. We could not use that pan. One plastic jug was badly stained orange. Stain could not be removed so jug not used. Apart from that everything was absolutely spot on. We had a lovely relaxing stay. Thank you.

This bungalow was exactly as described and we both loved it and the surrounding country and lakes.

We also enjoyed the evening meal at the house. Highly recommended.

Excellent place to stay.

Very comfortable. Very clean. Good laundry facilities, you’ll need tokens which are readily available from reception. Friendly helpful onsite staff. 10/10. Access lane could do with some maintenance by whoever owns it - it’s quite pot holed especially near the farm that you’ll pass enroute.

Everything was to our complete satisfaction, especially the scenic beauty, the tranquility of the grounds, and the spaciousness of the bungalow.

We have absolutely no complaints, but we would like to suggest to the owners that they improve the signage for the beautiful hiking trails and update the directions we received upon arrival. We got lost on every single walk.

The staff were so helpful and accommodating The bungalow served as a perfect base as we have lots of family in Devon and spent most of our time out and about with them. We can't wait to come back.

Had a great break away in bungalow 6, very comfortable, heating was brilliant, everything as it should be, the only problem we had was getting in & out of the bathroom(toilet) as its miles too small you have to try and move out the way of the door, as the room is extremely tight, but that's how it's been built, apart from that everything was great.

Access to actual site is up a narrow lane, have to be very careful of any oncoming traffic.

Great place to stay however I do think the staff could be a little more welcoming on arrival and provide more information considering we had never been there before.

However great place to stay with great views and it was very peaceful.

Nice well maintained property with all the amenities for a perfect break from city life. Loved the location, peaceful vibes, facilities, staff and everything. Will definitely return.

Went to reception to inform them about a piece of carpet missing between the hallway and lounge area which left sharp carpet grippers exposed.

I also told reception that I couldn’t open the patio door. I was informed that I had to lift the patio door as it had dropped if I wanted to open or close it. Considering the handle was loose and the door was heavy this was difficult to achieve. Although the maintenance went up to the bungalow later that day whilst we were out the carpet grippers were still exposed. They could have at least put thick tape down to cover the gap as I had young children staying. The cross over valve for the bath and shower was not working so if you wanted a bath it wasn’t to be. When you report deficiencies in good faith you would at least expect them to be addressed or even offered alternative bungalow which I wasn’t. The bungalow was tired and in desperate need of an upgrade as the cracks in the ceilings and paint missing on the ceilings were water had previously been coming in were obvious. Lovely location but investment needed

We choose Harcombe House because my husband is a serving member of the London Fire Brigade and wanted to give back to something that has helped us a lot in the past.

We could not fault the people who work there. They went over and above to help with various issues and requests. The pool was lovely and warm, nice size and for a long time we had the slot to ourselves. Towards the end a few other people came in but that was to be expected. Sadly where the property is let down was the cleaning. The bungalow was very dusty in places you could see the dust from the bed top, lights and lamps. Carpet was very stained. There were a lot of bugs that seemed interested in the property. And one of the bedrooms was very musty/mouldy which seemed to set off mine and my daughter’s allergies quite badly. The toilet is super small and could benefit from and outward facing door and a window for ventilation because you can just about get in and out without having to squish yourself in and up against the sink. The maintenance of these bungalows is largely down to the donations the charity gets from its members and people staying there, so if the donations are not there it’s not a surprise. We would urge anyone staying to consider a donation and serving members to please pay into the charity. It helps a lot of firefighters and their families. Despite the above we had a lovely holiday. The weather wasn’t overly kind so we didn’t raise lots of days out to pass the time together.

Had a lovely stay, the bungalow was spacious, warm and satisfied every need.

There was nearby external maintenance going on during our stay but the workmen were respectful and kept the nose to a minimum and at sensible hours. Overall despite the pool and onsite bar being unavailable due to maintenance and staffing issues respectively I would highly recommend a stay at this location.

Ok let's start with the downsides: The main double bed was rock hard and made for uncomfortable sleeping.

Wifi is very poor, and the TV isn't smart so be prepared for intermittent TV and slow/non existent wifi/signal. There is a café/bar on site, but the cafe closed in June, and the bar was only open Mon to Thurs evenings, this is also closing completely in 2 weeks. This means there is no where to go in the evenings unless you drive into the villages nearby. Ok, good points: Bungalow was spotless, good facilities inside, complimentary tea/coffee etc which was a nice touch. The swimming pool was lovely, you have to book in and out via reception, so remember to do that, and watch the times as it closes at 4pm most days. Beautiful views and the site itself is so pretty and well kept. We had a nice stay, its a very quiet site, if you like socialising and entertainment this is not for you, but if you like to get away and just chill its right up your street.

Harcombe House is an amazing place to stay, and the facilities are great.

The bungalows are much bigger than they look in the photos on the website, and are very comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful, and there is loads to do in the local area. We liked it so much we have already booked to go back next year!

Absolutely loved our stay, in fact we booked again for next year whilst we were still there!

The only slight things i would say could be improved on would be for the pool to open later than 4pm and also that the bar doesn't open on a friday or saturday which is a real shame.

The bathroom and toilet are not easy to get in for people that are not able body and parking is to far away from property need to have a wheelchair or scooter for anyone that can't walk far .

lovely and clean and very quiet place to stay not far from all place to see in Devon. People were lovely there and very helpful staff.

The cottage was large, clean, and in quiet and beautiful surroundings.

Facilities included a nice but small swimming pool, a tennis court, plenty of walking, a lake, and use of a restaurant if required. Close to the A38, making it easy to travel to various places, including Dawlish, Teignmouth, Torquay, Newton Abbot, Brixham, and Plymouth. The weather was fantastic, which made for a beautiful stay.

Very clean and tidy Bungalow.

Very good location in the complex. The Bungalow had everything we needed. The only thing we noticed and could not turn off at night was the bright bulkhead light on Patio area. We had a very good holiday. Thank you.

Some info you gave me on confirmation was inaccurate.

No pub less than a mile away. Some facilities are not available to guests if courses are being run. Limited access to cafe due to staff shortages. Accommodation was very good . Wifi could be better. Hilly site could be challenging to some.

Bathroom very outdated but functional, we got cold because of the weather, and could not understand the heating instructions.

The onsite facilities, like cafe and bar were also shut so we were disappointed with that. It should have been made clear when we booked only a few weeks before. Otherwise all was fine.

Real find, peaceful surroundings, with countryside outlook from bungalow.

Easy access to Devon seaside or countryside. Good facilities, small reflecting the area but that helped the feeling of getting away from it all. Access road is as a lot of roads in Devon are!

Cannot fault the accomodation, very clean and comfortable.

Would recommend the site for that alone, it was delightful. Only thing to note was the pool has very restricted opening and a 2 adults to 1 child ratio that we were unaware of, making it unusable to single parent families. This should have been made very clear before booking.

Family of 6 - 4 adults and 2 children (5 and 2) Overall - Lovely Stay.

4/5 Positives - Location/Facilities/Comfortable Beds Negatives - One Toilet. The Bungalows are spacious and could easily accommodate an additional toilet. A additional toilet in the bathrooom which had a bath/shower/sink could have made such a difference. The toilet was also very snug! You wouldn’t fit many larger adults in them comfortably or be able to shut the door! Fortunately for us this wasn’t a problem. Suggestions - Apart from the additional toilet, a small improvement would also be to provide cleaning facilities and hand soap. Despite the above we had a lovely stay and there are many positives to staying here. The facilities are a warm welcome for when our kids needed to let off some steam. We never struggled to book a swimming pool slot at reception and our kids loved the small playground being easily accessible. The gym being available throughout the week was also a bonus!

We have been to harcombe many times over the years ,it never disappoints the changes that are made are always for the better.

The bungalow was beautiful.

Wonderful views, very well equipped. A few things needed a bit of maintenance. Taps in toilet , carpet joints to lounge needed to be made more secure, saucepans and frying pan were quite badly scratched , These are just very minor issues that need replacing or repairing but a wonderful stay.

Great location, and very kids friendly.

Our stay was memorable. I highly recommend this location for stay if you want to relax and enjoy the nature.

Altogether lovely, good facilities, we enjoyed the warm pool and gym and the food at the stables cafe delicious.

Relaxed atmosphere, with sensible ‘rules‘ friendly staff, quiet location , we could not ask for more!

What a lovely location for a short break!

The setting for this property is outstanding and the woodland walk is a must. The property itself has everything you need and it's warm and comfortable. I have slightly marked down the cleanliness because there were lots of cobwebs which could have easily been removed before our arrival but they weren't a big issue for us. We would definitely consider staying again. Thank you!

Such a lovely peaceful weeks stay in mid March.

The bungalows are well set up, warm and clean. (A lamp or two in the sitting room would have been cosier) The site is peaceful and very well maintained with an extensive network of walking tracks and paths through the ground which are on the doorstep when you feel like leaving the comfort of your bungalow. The pool is warm and clean and the cafe and games room a very useful addition (if the cafe were open before key pick up and drop off on Saturdays it would be nice to have a drink whilst waiting or before driving off). We would happily recommend this lovely site. Thank you all

If you are looking for a lovely chalet set in the Devon rolling countryside, then this might be what you are looking for.

Its almost at the beach of the Exeter racecourse and you will need a car to explore the rest of Devon. Or you can just stay and enjoy what Harcombe has to offer. A nice cafe, a laundry facility, a swimming pool and great long walks (you need boots). Chalets are comfortable and very clean. Ive been many times !!

We had a lovely week at Harcombe House bungalow 12.

The bungalows are well equipped & very clean. Lunch in the stables cafe was excellent & good value & we enjoyed drinks in the bar most nights. I reported a couple of minor faults at reception & these were fixed while we were out on the same day. We will be back again as we had a lovely chilled week in beautiful surroundings and enjoyed exploring Devon.

Have visited this property many , many times.

Been holidaying and convalescing there since 1987. A wonderful location to rest and recuperate or be active too. It’s a really tranquil , peaceful location , just perfect. Bungalows are very clean , comfortable and well equipped. All the facilities on site are well maintained with friendly staff. We hope to be back there again next year.

Great place on lovely quiet site but within half an hour of some lovely places to visit in Devon.

This is a beautiful peaceful site which we have visited very many times over the years.

The bungalow was very clean and comfortable. The shower hose was leaky which we reported but said we could manage with it for the duration of our stay but it would need replacing. The kitchen could have benefitted from an oven tray but otherwise it was fine. We look forward to our next visit to Harome.

I'm sure it's been reported many time before, that is the toilet is very very small otherwise the accommodation very good.

Sadly the fishing was not so good, the area lacked maintenance and the fish non existent. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

Although it said the property was deep cleaned I don’t think this was the case as there were a few places missed for example in the fridge.

A little disappointed as I had a phone call to check details regarding check in etc and at the time I asked regarding having an evening meal in the restaurant and was told that I could but needed to tell reception by 12noon on the day. However when I asked the same question when we booked in was told that it was not possible as they were fully booked for the week. This was important knowing there was an on site restaurant when we booked and also being confirmed shortly before we arrived

Upon arrival, we instantly noticed how clean the property was, much to our delight.

Finding a fresh carton of milk in addition to tea bags, coffee and sugar was definitely a lovely touch after a long journey. Everyone we met was lovely. The grounds were beautiful for a morning or evening walk.The cherry on the cake was definitely having a deer pass by your kitchen window every morning. Such precious memories made!!!

We loved the bungalow and the facilities, the pool was fabulous.

Would have been great to have table tennis in the barn area where the air hockey was situated as it was in the gym and my boys were too young to enter. Also a sign just down from the public parking area to the cafe would be great, as I ended up turning down Stickend Lane which was a very narrow lane and added 40 mins on to our arrival and left me feeling very stressed.

Me and my daughter had a lovely time and my daughter is begging me to go back next year.

I can't wait to visit again also. Everything was wonderful, can't fault anything. Thank you for making our stay a memorable one and we shall look forward to booking again.

Pleasant enough location, the is well within reach of all the main parts of devon being located just off the main spine road.

The front of desk staff at the main building did occasionally feel quite abrupt in their manner, never impolite, but it did feel like I was being told off rather than spoken with when getting information from them. Felt more like admin staff than reception staff so missing that customer focus approach in my interactions. Almost like i was being an inconvenience by asking simple questions like etiquette for the pool, facility open times. all that being said we wouldnt think twice about staying again, although I would probably look for a bungalow a bit closer to the facilities, this bungalow is up near the top of the hill.

Pros: 1) Spotlessly clean throughout 2) Bed mattresses comfy; on the hard side, but that is my personal preference 3) Good location for short drives to Dawlish, Teignmouth, Newton Abbot 4) Beautiful manor house and grounds 5) Very helpful and professional reception staff 6) Lovely, warm swimming pool 7) Plenty of very hot water and a decent enough shower (not electric shower which was nice).

Cons: 1) No.7 is very much a bungalow in the middle and is extremely overlooked 2) Door into only loo opens inwards which makes entry and exit very difficult 3) Games room charges £1 or 50p to play each game every time. Is this really necessary after paying +£1000 for a week here?? 4) No dishwasher was disappointing especially as it's a holiday. 5) No private space outside (some bungalows might have some though - we didn't) 6) Only one small dishcloth to wash up with and wipe surfaces. We had to buy more sponges. On a similar theme only two rolls of toilet paper provided. We had to buy more. 7) Our sofa lent into the middle with people sat on it. Had to put two cushions under sofa seats in middle just to level it out. Not enough to bother reception about but a bit irritating.

Property was clean and spacious, beds were comfortable.

The description of facilities needs to be more detailed as there isn't a restaurant, only a cafe during the daytime but not open all week. The bar is also open restricted times. The games room should either have pictures of what is actually in there or details of what is there. The gym isn't available for under 18s and the pool needs to be booked. Given that these are the criteria we look for when booking a property it wasn't ideal for us so maybe giving more detail would be better.

Very comfortable accommodation, with everything we needed, one small minor was that we'd ask that the plates/bowls cleanliness is checked, as several plates and bowls were not clean, otherwise it was brilliant.

We rally enjoyed our stay at the bungalow, it was well equipped and lovely.

The staff were friendly and helpful. We will be recommending your bungalows to our friends.

What a find this place is!

We have stayed here 3 times with the charity and decided to rent. The only small negative is the Tv. All other bungalows we have stopped have a more modern tv that is linked to WiFi unfortunately this one did not have that as I did try. We like to relax with a film on Netflix or Prime. Perhaps it’s due an upgrade soon? Never the less we will be back soon. Many thanks Jamie and Netty

As a former firefighter I stayed here for recovery after a operation back in October last year This time I returned with family for a holiday as I was so impressed the first time I would highly recommend anyone wanting to visit Devon to stay here it’s so peaceful & tranquil & within easy reach of all local towns & attractions Thank you for a fabulous stay & we will be returning again in the future

Such a lovely place to relax.

The bungalow was just what we wanted.Only grip was the shower,which could do with updating.

Although the bungalow was lovely the problem with the toilet door could do with being rectified.

If you have difficulty in moving the squash to get in there is hard. Door needs to open out.

The bungalows have been refurbished and are fresh and clean with new furniture.

The kitchen is good, though crockery and pots and pans are at a minimum and there is no dishwasher. The bathrooms have not been altered but the shower is efficient and hot water is plentiful. The toilet is compact! The biggest improvement would be having a king size bed in the main bedroom, a double is a very snug fit unless you are both very slim!!!! The location is good with extensive walking available from the accommodation. The pool was closed for maintenance during our stay, but we knew that. When open the pool is excellent.

.lovely position ..clean and well stocked for our needs ..my only hangup was a tap mixer shower..hard to regulate but it was bearable for our stay ...we will be visiting the site again ..Thank-you

Lovely setting.

One of the points I would raise is the toilet access that other reviews also mention. We are both average build and had to turn sideways to squeeze in; people with poor mobility or large build would find it difficult. I could imagine excessively large people being unable to access at all. We were told during a courtesy call a few days before our holiday that Wi-Fi wasn’t good enough for streaming Netflix but I found occasional difficulty with even social media access. Another point was that the larger of the twin bedrooms (I imagine this is true for all or most of the bungalows) had no power-points on or near the headboard wall, hence no bedside lamp. Luckily, I always take a 3m extension lead with me so was able to use to place clock/radio/dock on small shelf between beds. Restaurant was closed for 2 of the 5 days it was supposed to be open.

More spacious than it looks on the Internet. Pool facilities were lovely. Would recommend highly.

Arrived at location to be told Swimming pool was not available.

Arrived at cottage to find only one Bathroom not two as is clearly advertised in your description. We are most disappointed and feel some recompense should be made.

We had a lovely stay at Harcombe House.

The bungalow is in a very peaceful location and we enjoyed the swimming pool, games room, playground and tennis courts - everything was clean and well maintained. The bungalow was spacious and clean. However, we would prefer if it had a dishwasher and curtains in the bedrooms (the vertical blinds let in loads of light).

I have stayed in Bungalow 12 at Harcombe regularly over the past 30 years and it is like coming home!

Only two points that need attention. The handrail fitted on the wall for the bath is on the wrong wall for use to get in or out of the bath because of the glass screen. If it was on the wall at the other end of the bath near the door it would be better. Also a hook on the door for dressing gown etc. secondly if it was possible to fit a sliding door to the toilet, it would make access so very much easier ! It is quite a work of art to use that facility!

Everything was as advertised comfy beds , spacious comfortable suite.

Everything in the property was perfect apart from the toilet, it was a very tight squeeze to get into and out of the room.

Apart from that, the bungalow was cosy, comfortable and clean. Would stay there again, had a wonderful holiday.

The chalet is lovely and the views are wonderful.

Nice and peaceful. Fellow guests keep themselves to themselves. I did not use the restaurant, or use the washing facilities (did a bit in house washing and placed on the rads. Chalet nice and warm. Comfy beds. There is a cafe which is very nice, the cakes were very good. Too wet for walks which are available. Good footwear required. You do need a car to get around and visit places, it is tucked away just off the A38. I found the best access off the top of the hill beside the Haldon Services. Single tracks so be prepared to reverse if you come across another car. Its my multi trip to Harcombe House which says it all really!

We originally stayed in Bungalow 12 at Harcombe and loved it so much that we booked a second week in Bungalow 5.

The property was spacious clean and comfortable. The overall site was amazing and we walked for miles through the grounds. The staff we encountered were really friendly and helpful too.

The whole booking process was very simple.

The cottage was lovely, clean and comfortable and in a lovely setting. It suited us very well.

provided. We did not need to provide anything we would usually use that was not provided. Beds and furniture very comfortable, bed linen clean and towels were a good size.

The Bungalows are spacious, warm, well equipped and comfortable.

Ours was showing signs of wear eg exterior cracks and flaking paintwork, interior - cracks and flaking paintwork in the main bedroom, some stains on furniture and carpets. The worst feature is the design of the separate toilet, the door opens inwards and there is barely enough room to close it behind you - or open it afterwards ( almost have to stand on the toilet) ; they should open outwards. This was our third visit and I'm sure we'll be back !

It would be nice to have bedside lamps in all the rooms.

One 2 bed room had one on an extension lead and the other had none. Mains double bed room was fine. Cooker/hob needed a clean and blinds were broken.

This bungalow is not suitable for the elderly or infirm, and this should be stated in the information.

The parking space has a very deep kerb to mount when exiting, and is up a hill from the property, with nowhere to unload near the bungalow. This definitely spoilt the beginning and end of our holiday, as it was very heavy rain, and all our luggage and supplies got soaked, as did we. It was impossible to clean when leaving, as nothing in the way of sprays for bath, toilet, floors, or kitchen were provided. Also, although tea, coffee, milk and sugar were kindly provided, there was no coffee pot, no chopping board, and no salt andpepper - all usually provided in all the many self-catering properties I've stayed in over the years. Such a shame, as the bedrooms and living areas were beautiful with impeccable linen.

This is a wonderful venue for a quiet relaxing holiday.

Nice walks around the site with gardens and lakeside/forest walks. Cafe and bar onsite with good food and drinks, if a little expensive. Village of Chudleigh is a short drive away with a number of fast food outlets and a Spar and Co-op. Seaside towns easily accessible and just a short drive into the City of Exeter. Would we book there again, probably.

Nothing wrong with the accommodation itself, a bit overpriced, with no discount for fire service personnel.

However the general facilities at Harcombe House very poor. Nothing open on arrival, cafe, bar or restaurant ,very disappointed.and when opened restricted times apply, I do not believe that this is yet a good commercial business, needs complete overhaul. Restaurant poor, more like a monks dining room! Sorry but would not book again.

The bungalow was modern clean and comfortable.

We particularly appreciated the furniture, carpeting and decor which was very homely and welcoming. We loved the peace and quiet, the beautiful grounds and the warm swimming pool. The only disappointment was the poor wifi connection. We always like to stream movies when we are away but this was just not possible using the wifi at the bungalow. We visit Devon every three months and would definitely use Harcombe as our regular go to accommodation if the wifi was upgraded.

Lovely rural retreat.

A second cloakroom would have been appreciated as there were 5 adults and 2 children!!

Super comfy beds, good quality bedding and pillows (also immaculate when I stripped them at the end of the week).

Had everything we needed and a great location. Pool was immaculate and good system in place to not be overcrowded. Overall really happy (family 2 adults 3 children). Park has a fab view we had a picnic down there while the kids played. Would highly recommend

One of the best holiday locations and properties we have ever stayed in.

Very clean, very spacious, lovely pool never to busy.

Need a car to explore as no where near to walk to. Coffee shop very reasonably priced cakes and coffee lovely. Didn't eat there in the evenings so can't comment on the evening menu. Games room with Air hockey and table football. Views are amazing.

We enjoyed our stay at 10 Harcombe Cottage, the surroundings were great, well maintained, quiet and good opportunity to relax.

The cottage was clean and had the essentials, I did miss not having a dish washer. Our beds were comfortable so had a good night sleep. however I missed not having a long mirror in our room and hooks on the back of doors to hang things up especially in the bed room and bath room. there were no bins in the bed rooms, bathroom or toilet area. the toilet was separate from the bathroom and the toilet space was extremely small. The carpet in the lounge was thread bear in areas near the sofa by the window. We had an unexpected visit from a gas engineer who wanted to check the central heating and this would last for approximately 30mins. We were not informed of this prior to our stay or at the time we collected the keys, so the engineer came the following day. We felt this could have been done before our arrival or after we had left as it meant we had to stay in for the engineer who arrived at 11am the following day . other than that enjoyed our break. Nice quiet location.

Small play area for young children. Tennis court and games room with table football and air hockey. Cafe and bar(opening days and times are limited) access to fishing lake. Nice size bungalow and moderately equipped. Good base for exploring the Torbay, Dartmoor area. Best approach is from the A38 as per instructions unless you enjoy lots of bumpy single track roads.

We very much enjoyed our stay.

Would recommend and come again.

Lovely woodland walks, near Dartmoor & the coast. Quiet location & my husband enjoyed the pool . Comfortable accommodation & pleasant staff around the site

Harcombe House is a fantastic location providing peace and quiet with beautiful countryside views.

The bungalow was immaculately clean, light and spacious and comfortable. A fantastic cafe/bar providing lovely cakes and food. There is a lovely pool, tennis court, childrens play area available along with good countryside walks. All of the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. Being a firefighters charity premises providing support and rehabilitation just adds to how special this place is. I am already looking to book again. Thank you for such a relaxing holiday. P.S As a fire Officer, the fire safety standards on site are "Gold" standard.

Positive points Very Clean inside and out.

Good standard of accomodation. Great views. Negative points Poor directions from A38. Turn left at the BP garage, THERE ISNT ONE ITS A TEXACO. Wasted a lot of time on this. better directions once in the land. Nothing mentioned about the reception area through the arch way. Needs more grab handels in the bath area. No shelf. Toilet very very small, door almost touches the pan. You have to have the door open all the time. Kitchen needed more unensiles. Poorly equiped

A vert comfortable spacious holiday home.

Comfortable beds which is very important. Very peaceful setting with beautiful views we were in bungalow 6. The pool was lovely and warm and the limit put on the people at one time works well.. Chudleigh only a couple of miles away with a co op for your grocery stock needs

The location is absolutely stunning, with the right amount of facilities and amenities.

The only thing that would have been helpful would have been a small on-site shop to buy essentials, but that's a minor point. The facilities for families was great, but the site still stayed quiet and private - the balance was perfect. Would have been great to have earlier / later options for the pool, but I get that there are reasons why that's not viable. The accommodation was wonderful, and amazingly clean. A bit bright in the mornings as the blinds did not block all the light, but again this is a minor gripe. Overall we felt it was one of the best places we'd stayed in more than 10 years of annually holidaying in Devon.

Very enjoyable stay.

The bungalows are a good standard and the extensive grounds make for some fantastic walks. We found the reception and cafe/bar staff to be very friendly and helpful.

Really enjoyed our stay.

The accomodations was comfortable and well appointed. Only one suggestion would be an additional toilet which would easily fit in the bathroom. 1 toilet when 6 people can stay is pushing it. The small toilet room needs redesign. If an older person fell you would not be able to open the door to help them. Sliding door or opening outwards would be advisable.

Brilliant place, been before, maybe 20 years ago but these bungalows have been seriously upgraded.

Very comfortable beds and living room seating. Only complaint, though not very serious, is the WiFi which is poor a lot of the time. The area is beautiful, especially Lyme Regis and the Jurassic coast.

Lovely to see the bungalows have been modernised, shame the toilet is still so small.

At 7 months pregnant I struggled to get in to the room! Hope that over time the cafe will be available at the weekends too

It would be helpful if you could extend the pool usage hours, at least during the summer.

. 9 am to 4 pm is not convenient for everyone

A really relaxing, clean and comfortable house.

The location is just beautiful, wooded walks on the doorstep and so quiet and peaceful. Not too far a drive from lovely small towns and villages or all the shopping you could need in Exeter. Dartmouth via the moving bridge from Kingswear was a highlight of the week. Overall an excellent stay. A couple of tips; bring some extra tea towels and small bin bags, only one big bin in the kitchen.

Accommodation overly minimalistic and not very warm.

Wish we had realised that we would even need to purchase salt and pepper. Expensive for what it was and we were very happy to find ourselves in very comfortable pub accommodation the night after we left, for less money with a lovely breakfast included.

A very comfortable and well equipped bungalow.

Fantastic staff on site. All were helpful towards us in difficult circumstances, my husband having mobility problems at the time. Harcombe House is perfect for anyone wanting lovely quiet countryside walks with a very high chance of seeing wildlife, particularly deer. The Stables cafe was a real bonus with good coffee and cakes. We didn’t have lunch but people who did were obviously enjoying their meals. Again, great staff.
