“The area is not particularly good for dog walkers who are looking for:
a.”
Long country walks, as the styles are not dog friendly and in some cases were blocked or locked by farmers.
b. a local field to let their dog off for ball throwing etc. The only community field in the vicinity calls for dogs to be kept on a lead.
If you want to use the restaurant facility for the Farthings Hotel immediately adjacent, then you really need to book. Not because the place is that popular and there will be a lack of room; but because the owner guests stressed out if everything is not planned and lined up to his liking (told us he'd serve us in about half an hour if we wanted to come back, but made us feel most unwelcome - so we voted with our feet).
The fish and chip wagon comes along on a Wednesday, but not when they're on holiday. Not sure how you get to know though, as there's nothing mentioned on their website so we were unfortunately wandering the village looking for them and only to be disappointed.
Quist Cottage itself is becoming a little tired now and probably due a good spruce up, but to be fair it's got a lovely garden and is exceptionally well equipped.
Generally, this is a lovely location and ideal if you're looking for peace and quiet, but still within a short drive to shops and restaurants.
