Fantastic accommodation, let down by dirty oven and outside rather unkempt.

Lovely cottage in a quiet location in the countryside.

The place had everything we needed, beautifully cared for and lovely decorated. Would recommend as an ideal base for a Devonshire break.

We loved the Coach House, so peaceful and quiet, excellent facilities, really well equipped and clean and a great place to totally relax and rewind, especially in the evenings with the wood burner. The dark starry skies at night a real bonus and walks from the door down the valley and along the River Teign. Thanks for the welcome and the lovely bottle of wine, much appreciated!

The Coach House is exceptional with everything you may need & more. Amazing views from the top field, well worth the climb. Arrive with your basic essentials ie bread, eggs & milk etc as it is approx 30 min round trip to nearest shop along typical Devon lanes! Thank you for a great stay & we'd love to come back.

This is a very comfortable, well-equipped property with friendly and helpful owners who provided lots of thoughtful touches including lovely toiletries and an excellent bottle of local wine as a welcome gift.

We found the downstairs entrance area really useful with plenty of space for muddy boots, coats, dog towels etc. All in all an excellent base in a lovely part of Devon with plenty to see and do within an easy driving distance as well as quiet walks from the front door.

It is very well equipped, peaceful with wonderful scenery. It is in a remote location, which suited us. We needed somewhere to unwind from the stresses of work. There are some lovely walks nearby which we very much enjoyed and exhausted our two dogs. Exeter is not too far away either, which was perfect for visiting our son who is studying there.

You can ‘hear the silence!

’ If you need to unwind and are looking for tranquility this is the place! An authentic experience that isn’t in a touristy spot but everywhere is accessible. Don’t miss the Bridford Inn or the nearby reservoir.

This cottage is stylish, comfortable and full of character and was furnished with everything we needed.

It’s set in a beautiful part of Devon and we enjoyed visiting Canonteign Falls and Go Ape! I highly recommend it.

A lovely cottage with plenty of space and light with fixtures/fittings/appliances to very high standard.

A bottle of wine was found on the table and provided a friendly welcome from the owner. There was also a detailed Welcome Pack to settle in suggesting local places to visit for food and drink. Also included manuals for the appliances that were most helpful. There was a section detailing the history of the cottage that made interesting reading. Beds were excellent and plenty of sofas/chairs provided comfort and rest in a quiet location. The car park had plenty of room and separate from the farm. The kitchen was well designed along one wall and easy to use and keep clean. Generally the entire accommodation was well above expectation. We took 2 dogs with us and they enjoyed going for walks in the local area. It was great to see horses/ponies and other farm animals in such a lovely setting. We thank the owner for all the work done to make the property so nice and for such a lovely holiday which was our Wedding Anniversary

Beautifully decorated property in lovely surroundings.

So comfortable and well equipped with all the essentials. Both bathrooms had amazing showers and we enjoyed relaxing after a day of walking in the roll top bath. Highly recommend.

Lovely bottle of wine for our enjoyment provided. The property, itself, has been beautifully built out of an old farm building and is warm, clean and very well appointed and equipped. Would say it is perfect for a couple although there are two lovely double bedrooms with modern ensuite bathroom facilities. Bit of a lack of privacy for two couples but probably ok for a few days. Very nice kitchen and excellent laundry. Plenty of parking. It is a little remote and you need to follow some very narrow Devon lanes to reach the property but once there is is peaceful and so very comfortable. Would recommend this property.

The Coach House was tastefully decorated and furnished and was spotlessly clean.

Although we didn't need the heating or log burner when we visited, I should imagine that it would be really warm and cosy in the colder months. It was a pleasure to stay at a property where it was so blissfully quiet. Val.

I stayed with my wife, young teenage daughter and our Lakeland terrier from 9th - 16th August 2024.

We found The Coach House to be a well presented, lovingly furnished, spotlessly clean and sympathetic barn conversion which has been done with great attention to detail, and which incorporates all the facilities you could require - a real home-from-home, with the bonus of 30 acres of hay meadows for dog walking. It’s a great base for exploring the moor and south Devon beaches. The long walks, dark skies, and solitude meant we had some great nights sleep!

A great retreat, well organised home away from home.

This is the perfect place to recharge and relax away from everyday noises and light pollution.

The barn has been beautifully transformed into an open plan space with amazing attention to detail in every room. I have taken some design tips home. The kitchen has all the accessories you would need to prepare a meal after walking in Dartmoor or the lovely walks from the farm. It was a big bonus to be able to walk my nervous dog off the lead in their fields. The cat was always there to greet you and the outside tables are positioned perfectly to view the stars on a clear night. The downstairs lobby was fabulous to store boots and wet gear and the utility room with freezer, washing machine and dryer a real bonus. The cleaning liquid for our use was a lovely touch. The farm is down single tracks so be prepared to reverse if you meet any vehicles. Simon and Natalie were wonderful hosts and I highly recommend this place. I will definitely be rebooking next year.

Excellent holiday accommodation with everything you need.

Owners so kind and such a peaceful location with a very friendly farm cat! Lots to do in the area, we will hopefully be back soon.

The Coach House offers everything that you would need and more so it was easy to get comfortable and get into holiday mode to enjoy the idyllic setting and wonderful views.

The corner room shower appeared to be slightly plugged up. Very happy that there was 24 hour hot water. Loved the farm yard position and remoteness. Might have been good to have had black out shades on the skylights .

I loved this accommodation as it was just what we were after in a break.

Quiet, secluded and extremely peaceful. The accommodation itself was clean, spacious and a real comforting stay after a day of going out. I could not recommend this place highly enough if a peaceful break with your family including the dog is what you are after.

Simon the owner was very friendly, checking to make sure we had everything we needed. A lot of care & attention has been given to every room. Very clean & comfortable, all immaculately furnished and the kitchen has everything you could want. I'm certainly going to miss cooking in it! Infact, I've taken home some furnishing ideas! It was great that the door in was downstairs & so muddy boots & rucksacks could be left there. Loved the fact there was also a utility room containing freezer & clothes washing facilities with washing liquid etc for our use, a lovely touch. Lovely walks are from the doorstep and places such as Canonteign Falls & Castle Drogo, both a must visit, a short drive away. Overall, this has to be the best accommodation we have had in the many years we have used Sykes & would definitely recommend.

We had a lovely stay at The Coach House.

The property itself was well furnished and very comfortable. Great location and we soon got used to the narrow lanes leading to the property. Would highly recommend, however, we would make the following comments: we found the stairs quite slippy (no shoes allowed upstairs) and our dog fell down a couple of times; maybe some grips could be fitted? Upon arrival I was worried regarding our dog and their beautiful new carpets upstairs; maybe provide an outside tap or water butt to help clean dog's feet? Also, we struggled getting off the drive (it was very wet with all the rain) as it's quite muddy and your turning onto a very narrow lane; maybe try and level the end of the drive? All these points are just my opinion and NOT critical. As already said, would highly recommend and would return ourselves. Thank you to the owners for messaging us about an item of clothing we left behind. Many thanks for a great stay.

I was really looking forward to our stay at the Coach House as the photos looked great but when we arrived the barn conversion was even better.

Beautifully designed living space for 4 people with so many stylish finishing touches. The main living space is flooded with light from the roof lights which also gave us a peek at the beautiful rural countryside surrounding us. Everything we needed for a self catering week was supplied and all top quality. My son's a keen cook and loved preparing meals for us every day

The property was excellent, definitely 5 star.

Everything was immaculate and very good quality and so much thought had gone into it to make it a perfect stay and so many extras.

The location was beautiful, but be aware of the narrow lanes and sometimes challenging driving!

We felt the lack of privacy and sound proofing between the bedrooms / ensuite and the main room could be an issue if sharing with friends, also it would have been helpful to have been able to see the amazing views from the widows,apart from this we thought it was beautifully furnished with everything catered for

What a stunning conversion of The Coach House !

Our hosts, Natalie and Simon, provided everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. The beds are so comfy and the bathrooms/shower areas so luxurious. The kitchen and utility also had everything anyone could need and the overall opinion is that it really did feel like a 'home from home' during our stay. Set in a very quiet location it was a treat to hear owls during the evening and see the Swifts - probably for the last time before they fly to a warmer climate !! Natalie and Simon are the perfect hosts and we so enjoyed meeting them. Thank you so much for making our stay memorable.

We had a wonderful week from 1st September at the most lovely property and didn't want to leave.

Our hosts Simon & Natalie were very welcoming and informative about places to see and eat. The Coach House certainly lives up to the expectation of the pictures and has everything you need to relax and enjoy yourselves. We would highly recommend it.

Suggestions: Boot scrapper at front door, put the microwave in the kitchen.

Bathrooms grab rail in shower and perhaps a non slip mat, somewhere to put shower gel, shampoo etc., shelf for toilet bags, plus for the smaller bedroom a mirror is needed adjacent to a plug socket for hair drying etc. A prominent sign at the start of the lane, to The Coach House / Thorn Farm.

The Coach House was a perfect place for a Devon holiday.

Our hosts, Simon and Natalie, had only finished converting the barn this year and we were their third guests. The cottage was in fabulous condition, spotless and well fitted out. We were made to feel very welcome and we have no hesitation on making a full recommendation for the cotrage.

Absolutely lovely property and the surrounds of Dartmoor are stunning.

Everything you could need is supplied in the property. We loved the little elephants hiding around the place, Mouse the cat is awesome and Connie the horse was lovely. Really high end finishing and appliances, and the property is spacious and homely, with great games and books also, if you just want to chill. Would highly recommend this property and corner of the world to visit. Thank you Simon and Natalie, your were amazing hosts.
