Our second stay at lovely Pound Cottage .

Everything just as lovely as we remembered and the weather was exceptional - no doubt we will be back. Rod and Nella

Unfortunately this was one of the worst place we have ever stayed in.

Due to the fact the mattress was far too soft for our liking. And more so the fridge in the kitchen was too small and back breaking for myself. Apart from that pound cottage was well appointed with a lovely garden.

This is a lovely cottage with beautiful views.

The garden is large with plenty of space for the dog to run around. Very peaceful surroundings.

The cottage had everything needed (although a clock in the lounge would have been nice).The host was very friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone wanting a break away from rat race of life.

Our few days at Pound Cottage were an absolute delight!

The accommodation was beautifully designed, arranged, decorated and immaculate, with a large, well-kept garden. Everything we needed was provided. Jennie had left us a tea tray of goodies and was there to make sure we were happy and comfortable. A wonderful, beautiful, quiet and peaceful place to stay.

5 Star accommodation in the beautiful Devon countryside. Jenny the owner was friendly and made us very welcome and helped and advised us when we asked her. The kitchen had everything we needed and the lounge and bedroom were very comfortable. My husband is disabled and the wet room bathroom was perfect for him. very queit area peace was loverly but you do need your own transport as its so remote ! a nice extra would be a car charger but away from that i cant recomend it enough !

Pound Cottage is a delightful place to stay with everything you could wish for.

Jenny, the owner, made us feel very welcome with our little Pug dog who enjoyed the large patio and an even larger lawn. It is set in the countryside within easy reach of local shops and the beaches. It is in an ideal location to visit all the beautiful places in North Devon and is very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The large garden is perfect to sit and relax and is great if you are taking your dog. We would thoroughly recommend Pound Cottage and we will definitely book again.

Lovely king size bed and ensuite. The view was exceptional and having use of the vast garden was so nice. Jenny is fantastic and very friendly. We loved having a chat and advice on where to visit. We would definitely recommend staying here and will return in the future.

Pound Cottage was the nicest accommodation we have ever stayed in.

The directions were very accurate and concise making it easy to find. We found it extremely clean and comfortable and it had a vary large and secure garden which was ideal for our dog and had wonderful views across the Devon countryside. This was a lovely cottage for two.

It was so easy to look after and had everything we needed. The garden and the views were spectacular, especially the sunsets, even on cloudier days. It was a little more remote than we realised, so you need to make sure you have enough milk etc. Jenny, the owner was very welcoming and able to advise us of best routes etc. Would definitely recommend.

If you’re looking for a tranquil, perfect little cottage then look no further than Pound Cottage.

It’s a prefect couple’s hideaway. Pound Cottage is so well equipped with everything you need, whether a full holiday or a long weekend getaway, which is what we did. It’s spacious, beautifully decorated, very peaceful and very close to all the local Devon attractions if you want to go out. The garden is so vast and stunning and our dog loved it. It’s also secure if you have a dog like ours with little recall. Jenny left us a tray of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits etc for our arrival. We also had good communication beforehand about key arrangements. The kitchen is very well equipped for cooking and we easily cooked a full English breakfast. The whole cottage was immaculate, very comfortable and very homely. There’s even a cupboard of doggie essentials complete with doggy and beach towels. The WiFi is good and there’s lots of DVD’s if you want a quiet evening in. The bed is very comfortable and things like a hairdryer, handwash, kitchen rolls, toilet rolls, washing up liquid and brand new washing up brushes made all the difference. We would highly recommend the cottage and we will definitely be returning!

The cottage is at the end of a small quiet village, with no shops, but plenty of shops in local towns.

We were warmly welcomed by the owner, but then left to our own devices. On entry the cottage was warm. A tray was set with choices of teas and coffee and a jug of milk, in the kitchen. All cutlery and crockery etc, that we needed was provided. Going through to the lounge the spectacular views were the first thing that wowed. The lounge/ diner was very comfortable, with plenty of seating. A very good modern TV and a video recorder with numerous choices of films, if you have time to watch. Most importantly the large double bed was extremely comfortable. The bedroom quite spacious. A good size toilet and shower room completed the package. Jenny (the owner) was very friendly when we bumped into her in the garden. Altogether a lovely get away,

The cotteag is warm and comfortable and just the place to relax in. Jenny is so friendly and helpful too. The weather was awful with rain and high winds but enjoyed every minute at the cottage.

The cottage is in a stunning location just 4 miles outside Bideford and 3 miles from Torrington. There's parking for 2 cars and the most beautiful garden which was great for us having a dog, especially when Jenny doesn't have one as ours isn't very dog friendly. The cottage is immaculate inside and has all the amenities you'd need for a break there. The bathroom is wheelchair friendly and there's also a ramp up into the house. The kitchen has everything you need so it's a home from home. The tray of various tea bags and coffee plus milk in the fridge was a nice welcome touch. Would definately stay again if we were looking for a stay in that area.

Everything was perfect.

Great location and although you need to get in the car to go anywhere, there is so much to see within a short distance. Highlights: Puffing Billy cafe with free parking and wonderful bike rides; lovely walks in the woods around Torrington; Instow with a dog friendly beach and excellent places to eat. I only had 4 days but I could easily have filled a fortnight. The property was very comfortable and felt very private but Jenny was the perfect hostess with lots of local tips. The ideal retreat to relax and recharge. Highly recommended.

If you want peace and quiet and love countryside then this cottage is ideal. Not forgetting the swallows that nest outside the door and swoop all over the spacious lawn and patio just outside the large lounge windows. All very comfortable and the owner, Jenny, is very helpful and knowledgeable. The local pub, Hunters Inn 10 mins drive away, serves superb food. We will return.

Accommodation and outlook superb in very peaceful location away from it all.

Lovely to hear so many birds singing and watching the swallows swooping around the lawns catching bugs to feed the young in the nests above the lounge windows. Take card if approaching using sat nav - short cuts not recommended! Hope to return later in the year.

Pound Cottage is an extremely comfortable hideaway for a relaxing break, with stunning views from the cottage itself.

It’s very rural but there are many walks and places to visit, both on the doorstep and farther afield. Jenny is a lovely welcoming host, and always available if you have any questions, but is very discreet at the same time. We enjoyed our chats with her, and also exploring this beautiful part of the world. Very quiet and relaxing. A home from home, with high quality fixtures and facilities at the cottage. We also felt that all necessary precautions and cleanliness standards were in place regarding Covid-19. Thank you Jenny. We enjoyed our stay very much and will be returning!

The accommodation was superb and enabled us to have a lovely relaxing week away from the crowds.

The cottage is beautifully presented with very comfortable sofa, armchair and kingsize bed and plenty storage space. The kitchen was well-equipped and the ensuite wet room had an excellent shower. The large windows look out onto an amazing garden and patio with colourful well-kept flower beds, expansive lawn and extensive views over the countryside We enjoyed lovely walks within a short drive, including the Tarka Trail, Huntshaw Woods leading to Berry Castle, the riverside at Torrington and at Bideford, and coastal beauty spots such as Instow and Hartland Quay. The owner Jenny lives right next door but was not obtrusive at all. She gave us a very warm welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our chats with her during our stay. We'd like to thank her for all her help and for the hard work and extra measures she had put in place which enabled us to feel as safe as we possibly could in the property during this Covid-19 pandemic. We can't wait to return to Pound Cottage for another relaxing break.

This was the first time we have done self catering.

To be able to have the freedom to come and go without the restrictions of B&B, just what we wanted. Pound Cottage is ideally located away from the main roads. If it is peace and quiet you seek one cannot do better than Pound Cottage. Jenny Staines met us on arrival and explained/showed us around, a very friendly and pleasant lady. We would like to add it was nice to be able to find somewhere that is dog friendly which is another bonus. We are seriously thinking of booking another week in September 2020.

A highly comfortable cottage situated off the beaten track.

The owner goes a little further than many with welcoming tea, coffee, milk & biscuits. Likewise, large fluffy bath towels and small additions such as salt & pepper, washing up liquid etc. Makes all the difference. Peace and quietness throughout. We shall return as do many others.

Pound cottage is the best in my eyes we always love coming here it's a sad day for us to say we wont be going back and leaving Sykes cottages but one day we hope to go back

Pound Cottage has to be one of the most well-appointed cottages we have ever rented.

It has everything including a wonderful wet-room bathroom, access to an enormous garden (which our dog loved) and an owner, Jenny, who was most helpful in giving recommendations about places on interest all around North Devon. It is located well into the countryside along typical narrow Devon roads, but Bideford, Barnstable and Westward Ho are all with in 30 minutes or so.

A very nice holiday home, spotlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped.

The patio area is lovely, though I wouldn't describe it as 'private' as in the cottage description, it is part of a larger patio area belonging to the owners house and is overlooked by that property. Dog owners please be aware that the garden/paddock area is not completely secure. The hamlet is quiet in general, however there is an industrial facility next door to the property. We were awoken by activity there very early in the morning. The work being carried out there was quite noisy at times, so I think it is worth mentioning this in the property description. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Pound Cottage is a superbly well presented holiday accommodation for two people.

It is spacious, light and airy. All the fixtures and fittings are of high quality. It is very quiet and has lovely views, but not too far from the Town and main roads. The walk in wet room is lovely. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Pound Cottage is a beautiful, modern cottage set in the lovely Devon countryside.

The cottage has everything you could wish for and in particular benefits from a superb wet room and one of the most comfortable king size beds we have ever experienced. The views from the cottage are spectacular, especially to the west and we were lucky enough to see some really amazing sunsets during our stay. We were given a very warm welcome by our lovely host Jenny who was so helpful in guiding us on places to visit. Nothing is too much trouble, thank you Jenny. Some of our favourites were Hartland Quay, Fremington Quay, Croyde Bay and Appledore (particularly the chocolate shop!!) For a quiet, peaceful base from which to explore North Devon, we cannot recommend Pound Cottage highly enough.

It would be good if cottages with assesable acess and wetroom facilities were listed so as they are easier to find.

A fabulous week in a lovely cottage one of the best we've stayed in with a comfy bed, amazing shower plus a neff hide and slide oven !

Visited lots of places our favourites ilfacombe, Westward Ho ! Appledore and Instow. Fish and chips at taffs in Torrington was excellent. Thank you Jenny

We have been here twice and I recommend it to anyone lovely area only a very small village no shops no noise from anywhere but me and the wife enjoyed it so much we be going back again soon

The cottage was excellent, very spacious and had everything we needed.

It was very clean and also easy to get around with my restricted mobility. The wet room was also a big plus. It was in a lovely position with glorious views and a nice patio to sit on. The owner was very helpful with some guidance on a few places to visit.

The owner met us on arrival and was very willing to offer help should you need it. The cottage is lovely and well appointed with all home comforts, as long as you are happy to be in a isolated village. Its in easy reach of tourist spots if you have a vehicle and the nearby pub/restaurant is only 3.5 miles away and was most welcoming with a very good and varied menu. This is a perfect 'retreat' in beautiful countryside, if you want to get away from everything (especially the telephone/mobile). Thankyou Jenny.
