“We found the apartment to be a very comfortable and well-situated base for an October-half term break in north Devon.”

The apartment is on the second-floor of what was the Belgrave Hotel. The whole building has been refurbished to a high standard. A dedicated car parking spot is to the rear of the building, which is very useful as parking in the town is very controlled. We have a small SUV, which coped fine with the sharp turn into the car park and the space itself, but larger vehicles might present more of a challenge. Access to the flat is via a door from the car park. There is a short flight of metal ...

The apartment is on the second-floor of what was the Belgrave Hotel. The whole building has been refurbished to a high standard. A dedicated car parking spot is to the rear of the building, which is very useful as parking in the town is very controlled. We have a small SUV, which coped fine with the sharp turn into the car park and the space itself, but larger vehicles might present more of a challenge. Access to the flat is via a door from the car park. There is a short flight of metal steps down. A modern lift takes you up to floor 2, but again there is a short flight of steps up to the landing where the flat is located. The flat is very welcoming - lots of windows offering light, well-chosen furnishings, and well-heated (also providing plenty of hot water). Other reviews comment on noise - it is above a road, and because it isn't double-glazed you do hear traffic noise, but we didn't find this a problem. The living area is spacious and comfortable, with a good kitchen area - large fridge-freezer, induction hob, sink island - we found self-catering no problem (it's an easy walk to the Co-op or Lidl). The bedroom is, again, large, light and well-furnished (very comfy bed!). The en-suite is modern, with a large bath and overhead shower and a good hot, towel rail (plenty of towels provided). We'd definitely use the apartment again - a very good base for coastal walks particularly - comfy and welcoming to return to at the end of the day.

“What a lovely apartment!”

High ceilings and big windows looking out onto Ilfracombe’s main road. Lidl about a 3 minute walk has everything you might need. Perfectly located for a stroll to the main centre and harbour where you can get a boat over to Lundy. Beautiful Croyde and Woolacombe beaches a short drive away. Went to Arlington Court (National Trust) which is well worth a visit. We’ll be back

“The apartment is beautifully presented and very well equipped for the self caterer.”

The carpark was a useful facility as well, and the apartments is well positioned for the town and beaches. Sadly the Tunnel Beaches were closed. I think that the lack of double glazing lets the, otherwise excellent, apartment down, because the noise from traffic and seagulls was very irritating, although I suppose seagulls aren't within your control!

It's also in an ideal location for the shops, restaurants, pubs and the harbour. The only slight downside is there is no double glazing (I expect because the building may be listed) so you do get some external noise.

“The apartment is a recent conversion on the second floor of the Grade II listed building, situated a few minutes walk from both Landmark theatre, the Tunnels beaches and other Ilfracombe favourites.”

The apartment was modern. spacious, comprehensively equipped and, despite being booked at very short notice, immaculately clean with a welcome pack provided. It's about 10min level walk to the Harbour but a climb uphill up to the main shopping streets. Overall a very pleasant stay in a lovely apartment. A few things to note: the building is on the main road to the Harbour and can be noisy. The entrance to the car park is off Fortescue Road, which is between the Belgrave building and the Devon Beach next door. The car park entrance is then first left up a narrow lane at the rear of the Belgrave building. The first few steps from the car park are quite narrow. The key safes are behind you as you face the entrance door. A front door key would have been useful but not essential. The information folder for the flat was good but a couple of things needed updating and guidance on recycling would be useful.

The bottle of Prosecco was much appreciated after a long 7 hour drive to relax on the outside balcony with a glass of bubbles in hand. The parking although challenging because of the steep narrow drive was still very convenient to have. The lift was welcome to transport cases etc up to the flat. Thanks again.

Such top quality furnishings and finish, not only to the apartment but the actual building was amazing. Actually thought of everything (but did miss some tongs for the bacon and sausages LOL) We honestly had the best stay here, the bed was so comfy and the shower was brilliant. So comfy and warm do not have any complaints what so ever. We would definately recommend, thank you

“The apartment was very tastefully decorated and furnished and equipped with everything any guest could possibly need.”

We arrived in the middle of Storm Noa and to have the heating already on when we opened the door was wonderful. The added touches of milk, tea, coffee and prosecco that were left were really appreciated. The location was good but it was quite noisy from early on in the mornings due to the lorries from the nearby Post Office Depot coming and going. That was the only little negative, otherwise the apartment was perfect. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

The apartment is well equipped with everything you need and more, and the little touches of milk and coffee were a fabulous added bonus following a long drive! The apartment is well situated just a stones throw away from all the shops, bars and beach, in a lovely quiet area. We found the apartment so nice and of an extremely high standard, and if we travel to the area again I wouldn’t hesitate to book again. “Beautifully maintained apartment, gorgeous high ceilings from a bygone era, furniture was very comfortable, especially the bed.”

So important to have a comfortable bed when away from home. Lovely bathroom too, very spacious and clean. Good quality kitchen tools and equipment, the only thing I'd say was missing was a 'normal' frying pan rather than the wok styled pan. (We actually bring our own as we often find frying pans are not fit for use). A liner for the grill pan would have been appreciated, as it happens, we bring our own foil to do this with but some cottage owners do put a liner in the base of the grill pan. It was a real home from home as we spent all day Monday in the apartment as it was The Queen's funeral so a real test of homeliness. We also had to buy food to cook as there was nowhere open on Monday evening (due to Queen's funeral) so the grill and hob really did a great job. One extra dishwashing tablet would have been handy. The only thing we found 'odd' was the coat hook in the hallway - it must've been put up by a very tall man as my 6ft 2 hubby struggled to reach it and at 5ft 1 I had no chance! We liked the balcony too but didn't use it much. We rarely ever revisit the same place but if we were to revisit Ilfracombe we'd happily look to rent this apartment again. It feels spacious, homely and is very clean. Big tick!

We had a great time here and the location was also very well placed. The only niggle which I'm sure is easily fixed was the pop-up plug in the bath which was a struggle to use and empty the bath. However , that apart , the apartment is a 10/10 !!

“We were pleased to find the property well appointed and in first rate condition.”

The kitchen and the bathroom were well equipped and everything worked. It was cold when we arrived but the heating system was very efficient once the workings of the thermostat had been fathomed. Some spare waste bags especially food waste bags would have been ideal. Tea, coffee and milk, and a bottle of Prosecco were an added and welcome bonus. Thank you.

“On approach to the property we were impressed by the curb appeal compared to its neighbours.”

Accessing the carpark was a little challenging but the space was adequate for our small car. Entering the building we were impressed by the quality of decor and furnishings and this continued as we entered the apartment, all appliances and soft furnishings were of good quality and in almost new condition. The rooms were all very spacious and there was ample storage. The extra small touches of wine, water and soft drinks, tea, coffee etc. and fresh flowers were a lovely added suprise. When settling in on our first evening we were disappointed by the level of noise. The single glazed windows meant that conversations could easily be heard from passing pedestrians and the almost continuous road noise was only made less prominent by the noise of Royal Mail vehicles reversing up the steep hill alongside the building any time from 7.30am! Such a shame as if the property had secondary glazing fitted our review would be 5 star.

Also, a warning, although there is a designated parking spot, if you have a large vehicle the parking area is tight to get into from the road and on the small side.
