Reviews

    • “A perfect location close to the CBD and harbour with wonderful ocean views. An ideal base for discovering the north Devon Coast and the Moors. As good as it gets with all modern conveniences.”

    Mr Carney, Arundel, September 2018

    • “As we were staying for 2 weeks it was important to have a washer /dryer. The machine in the flat was not working and, although we reported this on arrival, the engineer did not attend to fix it until the last day of the fortnight. A drying rack was provided as an interim solution but the delay in fixing the machine was a disappointment.”

    Mr White, Bristol, June 2018

    • “This was one of the best places we have ever stayed in. We will certainly be going back. Waking up to that sea view everyday was really spectacular.”

    Mrs Wlliams, Rhyl, March 2018

    • “Fantastic venue with stunning views. All the amenities that one would need. Would thoroughly recommend and am looking forward to returning :)”

    Ms Hester, Reading, February 2018

    • “We have stayed in Syke's cottages before so we knew what high quality they offer.”

    Ms Dunne, Birmingham, October 2017

    • “Car park gate entry system is very temperamental and the key fob did not operate the gate when manual operation was turned off.”

    Mr Hodge, Deal, October 2017

The Property

The seaside resort of Ilfracombe is filled with Victorian architecture and charm. The natural harbour is a delightful area to grab some lunch and watch the boats bobbing or to take a pleasure trip across
the waters to Lundy Island or along the North Devon Coast. There are two hills overlooking Ilfracombe and an energetic climb to the summit of Hillsborough is worth the effort to see the remains of the Iron Age hill fort. For a unique beach experience visit the Tunnels, which were hand carved in the 1820's and boast a
tidal pool and some fabulous rock pools or take a walk along to Hele Bay, a sand and shingle beach with secret smuggler caves. There are plenty of cafes serving delicious meals and dessert treats and an assortment of pub/restaurants catering for every taste. For a large stretch of soft golden sands and white waves
ideal for surfing a short drive will take you to Woolacombe, perfect for enjoying an ice cream on the beach! A journey to the historic market town of Barnstaple is worth a visit and offers some good shopping along with cinema and plenty of nightlife. Lynton and Lynmouth are close by and boast a water powered funicular which connects the two towns and are set where the sea meets Exmoor National Park. The park is a fabulous day out for walkers and cyclists offering outstanding scenery and some wonderful spots for a picnic, take a wonderful walk along Watersmeet, where you can stop and have lunch at the cafe by the waters edge and dip your toes in the cool river.
