9 Harefield Cottages

You couldn't wish for a better cottage to stay in.

Great accommodation and fantastic location. Couldn't get closer to the beach if you tried and the view out of the back of the cottage was to die for.

We had a wonderful holiday at 9 Harefield Cottage.

It is our third stay now and cannot wait to come again. Our two dogs had an amazing time and the Location was beautiful the views were amazing.

We had a super week in the cottage.

We left the car at home and travelled by train which worked well, our accommodation was a 3 minute walk from Lympstone station. The view across the harbour and estuary from the lounge and bedroom was lovely, always something to see. The cottage had everything we needed in the kitchen, and the bed and furnishings were comfortable. Our main purpose on our holiday was to walk, we walked to Exmouth a couple of times and along the estuary to Topsham. We also walked from Exmouth to Budliegh Salterton and back again (12 miles). We did get wet one day and needed to put the central heating on to dry out. We couldn’t get things to work at first, we replaced the dead batteries in the Hive thermostat and we were up and running. A couple of things from a maintenance point of view, the extraction fan in.the bathroom didn’t seem to work with the pull switch ( maybe we were missing something) The outside area by the front door and the bins could do with sweeping up and a wash down. It didn’t look very tidy and was a bit smelly. Overall we had a fantastic week in Harefield Cottage and would recommend it, and would happily return again.

This was the most clean and best maintained cottage ever, offering everything you need and more, many nice touches.

We just loved it. Wunderful views over the estuary from the garden and the bedroom. Station nearby, with good connections to Exeter, Exmouth and around both sides of the estuary (also nice in combination with a walk). Only the parking instructions need updating: parking at the station is not allowed (and it would not feel good to keep a space occupied there all week long, as there is only limited space for travellers). The village car park is app only, with no reception (coins are no option, with almost 9 pounds per day, also during the nights). We were annoyed at first to find several cars parked in front of the cottage, but the neighbours told us that we were not supposed to make use of these spaces, which we respected, although it was not clear if we were obliged to do this. We parked the car in a residential street, where it could do no harm (we hope). If it is possible to arrange a week permit for the car park in advance, that would also be a good option. So please, better information on the parking issue would be helpful. However, we had a wonderful week and hope to come back again. Would defenitely recommend.

Very clean and comfortable stay, love the view of the estuary enjoyed watching the sun set on the patio.

Our second time stay at the property, would like to return again next year.

Lovely stay, good location.

Nice to have a small welcome pack though. A few teabags, coffee and some milk, there wasn't even any salt and pepper. .Room thermostat was a bit hit and miss, couldn't turn it down at all one night. Would come again though. Thanks.

A lovely cottage with stunning views over the estuary.

We loved sitting watching the boats and playing on the beach with our granddaughter. Great base for visiting Exmouth and Topsham.

Lovely cottage in a delightful village.

The cottage was well equipped, but the bedrooms lacked blackout curtains/blinds, so late sleeping was difficult. In the kitchen, a spatter guard for the frying pan and an extractor unit would have helped. Parking next to the cottage is difficult for a small car and impossible for a large car, but this was mentioned in the cottage information and it didn't spoil our stay. The landlord let us park on his carpark and also mentioned using the station carpark. We didn't use the car very much anyway, because the train service is great. We would definitely come again if only for the view of the estuary from the living room!

Just a few cleanliness issues - blankets were covered in dog hairs and big stain on dining room carpet. Kitchen was very well equipped to which we cooked for a couple of nights. Would definitely recommend.

It was so good to arrive to find the cottage warm; so often a first job is to find the heating controls!

The cottage is well equipped and the position is just ideal, with wonderful views of the estuary and beautiful walks from the door.

Wished I'd mentioned that I'm allergic to feather pillows, cushions and duvets but managed to get by. Would love to stay again

Wonderful stay in a lovely property in a beautiful village.

Wasn't blessed with the weather but got one decent night sitting in the garden with a glass of wine overlooking the Exe. What ever the weather there's an ever changing view. The property was well equipped, comfortable, warm and very clean and lovely sitting in the lounge looking out over the estuary. The village is idyllic and great food at The Swan. The toilet seat in the bathroom was loose and the left side of the window in the top bedroom didn't open. Didn't spoil our stay though.

This is a delightful cottage in a pretty, peaceful village with stunning views, just yards from railway station - very clean, & bottle of wine & biscuits on arrival a nice touch.

Swan Inn does excellent food, & handy village shop/PO - large M+S food @ Exmouth only 5 mins on train. However, double bed not at all comfortable, bad stains on downstairs carpets, only 1 set of keys, & no contact number for queries - nor could I get through to Sykes on phone, & no reply to email ☹️ - NOT a happy customer!!

Very much enjoyed our stay ,the views are fantastic ,stairs are steep but you are told that in the information and it is an old cottage ,so this is to be expected.

Well equipped with garden furniture and a sun shade ,books,games etc. Cottage hadn’t been serviced when we arrived,but this was quickly dealt with and we were financially compensated .

This is a delightful cottage with the most amazing outlook to the water edge.

Access to drop off is narrow so not ideal for larger vehicles. Car parking is an added cost currently eight pounds for 24 hours. Ringo or cash for payment. Apparently a reduced cost permit can be obtained from Local Council before your visit. Perhaps more details of this can be added to the details for the visit. Carpark is also very busy at weekends. However, we had a wonderful visit (our 3rd time) and will certainly come back again.

This our second time staying at this cottage and again we absolutely loved it.

It is very well equipped in a super location!

The lack of car parking is a little inconvenient and the public car park only accepted cash.

RingGo did not work and there was no card machine, but that is an issue for East Devon Council. Apart from that, the cottage was well equipped albeit rather hot in the roof conversion, which we did not use as the stairs were rather steep. An excellent location with a fantastic view across the estuary, a short walk to the convenience store, pubs and station. All in all, we were well impressed.

We found the property to be well equipped, clean and comfortable and in a wonderful location.

The property was spotlessly clean and comfortable and had all the facilities and equipment we would expect to see. We couldn't find fault and would love to stay again and would recommend to anyone.

This is a spotless and very well equipped cottage in a great location in Lympstone.

The kitchen had all the high quality equipment you would expect in a family home rather than a holiday rental which was surprising. The view from the cottage onto the estuary was just beautiful. It’s a perfect place to stay with children. We really enjoyed our week’s stay there over Christmas. I only wish there had been some festive decorations but we would certainly choose to stay there again.

Well located.

Well stocked. Spotlessly clean. Lovely place and would return again. Only downside was the mattress in the main bedroom which we think needs replacing, but overall hard to fault!

Our cottage was so clean and very welcoming.Every need had been thought of and the welcome flowers, crisps and bottle of Prosecco much appreciated. We had a great week and all our family enjoyed cycling and walking in the area. We would recommend it to everyone!!

We had a lovely week at 9 Harefield cottages.

It was a really pretty place - well equipped and comfortable and the back garden had fabulous views across the River Exe. It is possible to swim / paddle board from here around high tide. Parking in the nearby public car park was straightforward. Would definitely go back!

The cottage was squeaky clean , beautiful decorated the fresh flower in all downstairs room was a really classy touch, the location was superb, lovely food in ship inn
