2nd time there very peaceful location

Our 3rd visit to Barn Shelley.

If you want peace and quiet on holiday and a great place to relax, then this is the place to go. Although it is in a rural setting, there are plenty of places to visit. The Lodge is so well equipped and comfortable. With easy access to Exeter, Exmouth and Barnstaple by train from Copplestone station. We really hope to visit again. A super holiday home.

This is a wonderful property everything is just perfect .

Audrey the owner is just across the road if needed. On arrival we had freshly made shortbread which was lovely, home made apple juice and a little starter pack. The property was warm and cozy but the log burner was a bonus and we used it on many occasions , the property was like toast. Another bonus was the sheep on your doorstep. We will be going back again for sure. The pictures do not do it justice. We cannot thank you enough Audrey we had a lovely Christmas.

We had a lovely weeks holiday at Barn Shelly despite the terrible weather the lodge was warm and comfortable,the owner was very helpful without being intrusive unless you need her .

Barn Shelly is a great lodge within easy reach of north Devon and Dartmoor,would highly recommend it.

Beautiful lodge in peaceful surroundings.

We enjoyed the views especially the sheep in the adjoining field and the occasional cows. Property was well equipped, clean, and comfortable. Audrey was a warm & friendly host. We would recommend without hesitation.

We had a wonderful stay at Barn Shelley Lodge.

It is in a beautiful, quiet setting and we had a lovely welcome. The lodge is equipped with everything you could possibly need. We spent a few evenings just sitting on the deck, enjoying the peace and serenity. Barn Shelley is an ideal location for visiting the many interesting places in Devon. We would highly recommend the horse-drawn barge on the Tiverton Canal. We hope to return in the future.

An excellent base, with so much just a short drive away.

The lodge was so comfortable, clean and well stocked - Audrey is a lovely host who is happy to help with anything you may need.

We really enjoyed our stay.

The lodge is beautiful in a peaceful setting and the facilities were home from home. We loved the welcome touches of Homemade cake, fresh eggs and homemade lemonade. Access to the lodge was simple and the Satnav brought us straight to the lodge without any issues. It is a great place to stay if you just want a peaceful stay but great as it is very central for getting around Devon in ant direction. Would highly recommend.

It was lovely to come back to Barn Shelly Lodge a lovely place to stay We only had a few days but it was as I remembered from before.

Lovely to see the sheep in the field and be in the countryside and to catch up with the owner.

The owner, Audrey was very helpful when we had issues with not being able to use the WiFi on our phones.

Although she couldn't get to the bottom of the problem,she certainly tried everything possible. We were very grateful for the welcome pack, apple juice, eggs, bacon and milk and the supply of dishwasher tablets. The bed was comfy,the lodge was warm. The smart TV was great,the only thing that there was an issue with was the DVD player may need a cleaning disc ,but that was not enough to stop us giving 5 stars!

Lovely well presented and sizeable cottage, in a quiet location.

Very handy to drive to Credition, Exeter, Dawlish & Tiverton. Lots of attractions nearby so all in all, a very good base. We had a lovely stay for a week and would certainly recommend it.

This Lodge, is the best we have ever stayed in.

The cleanliness, faciities and equipment provided were second to none! Audrey (the owner) greeted us on our arrival with the warmest of welcomes, and was on hand all week if we needed anything - we did not, there was everything and more we needed in the lodge! The welcome pack of Bacon, Eggs, Milk, Apple Juice and Lemon Drizzle Cake were all superb and a lovely surprise. We travelled across the Devon Countryside most days to see the surrounding area which was beautiful. Would we recommend Barn Shelly Lodge? In a heartbeat! Definietly suggest you try the Sunday Buffet at the Crediton Tandoori - superb food. Dont be fooled by the appearance of the outside! Best meal of our holiday was at the Quay pub on the harbour at Instow! Amazing Food.

Audrey was the perfect host and we were so impressed how spotlessly clean the accommodation was on our arrival.

A lovely setting to stay, with everything you need.

Audrey leaves you a beautiful lemon drizzle cake, fresh eggs and milk for when you arrive. The beds are so comfortable. I would highly recommend and would stay again. Thank you for a lovely week.

The lodge was very warm on arrival which was a relief as the weather was very cold.

Our hostess introduced herself when we arrived to explain everything, which was very helpful. She also provided a welcome pack of homemade cake, milk, tea, bacon and egg. Overall an excellent place to stay.

An excellent stay in an extremely welcoming, spacious & comfortable lodge.

Very quiet ( with only sheep for neighbours) and amazing dark skies. Audrey our host was on hand if we needed anything and provided a lovely welcome pack of Homemade cake, Homemade Apple Juice, Eggs, Bacon & Milk. We honestly could not have asked for anything more and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Everything about our stay was first class. I can only support the many complimentary comments made by previous guests, We have stayed in a number of cottages but this was in a class of it's own. Thank you so much for all your help and hospitality.

My first impression was that the pictures of the living area don’t do it justice.

It was so much more spacious than I was expecting. I also couldn’t believe how well equipped the kitchen was, a joy to be able to do all the cooking we wanted to do. Both the lemon drizzle cake and apple juice on arrival were delicious. The owner really wants you to have a good time and we certainly did. Thank you.

We had a very comfortable stay the Lodge.

The accomodaqtion was equipt with very modern and useful appliances, the bedding was super comfortable. An all wood construction made the rooms very warm, and the wood burner made you sizzle!. Our lovely host, Audrey, was very helpful and informative. And the wooly neighbours were delighful, as was the surrounding wildlife (Birds mainly):-)

Really great place, located in a secluded location, all mod con's available for use, 2 bathrooms, shower and bath especially welcome, along with large beds.

Kitchen/Diner/Lounge area is modern and spacious. The whole log cabin is warm and cosy. The owner met us on the 1st day and told us everything we needed to know about the area and more. All in all a faultless stay, Thank you.

Barn Shelley Lodge exceeded our expectations, it had excellent equipment and a warm welcome from Audrey who passes each morning as she goes to check on her sheep.

We suggest that you add some pictures of the bathroom and en-suite to the Sykes page as these were the only parts that we could not see prior to booking and they would have helped us make our decision to book. Go to Barn Shelley Lodge and you won't be disappointed!

Barn Shelley Lodge is an absolute gem.

Impeccably clean (which feels more important than ever in the current climate), with many little touches that made us feel relaxed and at home as soon as we arrived. It felt like a very safe place to stay with our young children (3 and 5) which as any parent knows, meant it was a more relaxing break for us! Would go back in a heartbeat and recommend to anyone.

Our host Audrey made us so welcome, with delicious homemade treats ready on arrival!

The Lodge was immaculately clean; so comfortable and very well equipped. Amazing showers! It is in such peaceful surroundings in a beautiful part of Devon. We felt immediately at home and had a very relaxing happy holiday with our two children (8 and 10). .

Barn Shelley Lodge was perfect for our holiday as we wanted to spend time reading and watching DVDs.

Although the weather was awful it didn't bother us, as we were in the dry and had the pleasure of looking out on fields of sheep and their lambs, which were so funny tearing about in gangs. A local shop 1.5 miles away stocked most things one could want and there was a Tesco superstore 11 miles away in Crediton. We are in our eighties and would rate the Lodge as the best self-catering accommodation we have had in many years of holidays.

We were made to feel very welcome by Audrey and we really enjoyed the lemon cake and other goodies!

The lodge itself was spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped. We had a very comfortable stay and enjoyed the wood burner in the evening. It was lovely to wake up in the morning to the view of the fields and their sheep. It was a much needed break where we could recharge our batteries. Thank you.

Barn Shelley is an absolutely lovely place to stay.

Perfect surroundings and great location in mid Devon. The lodge has everything you would ever need and more, the scenery was perfect and the sheep neighbours are very well behaved. Audrey the owner was around when needed but left you undisturbed. My daughters helped bottle feed some lambs and it was one of their highlights of the year. We will definitely return - 5*!

I spoke to the owner before arrival and made to feel most welcome, we we able to get in about 30 minutes earlier than stated.

The property is very comfortable, clean and homely, it was very easy to get our things in and out with the large door onto the veranda. We had a most relaxing week and will book again.

This is one of the cleanest and comfortable places we have stayed, the owner made us very welcome and left us an excellent welcome pack which included a lovely homemade cake.

The quality of the accommodation was in our opinion outstanding with every home comfort. We visited the Devonshire Dumpling for pub food twice and were very impressed with not only the food but we also felt very ‘Covid safe’. This is a lovely quiet location for a get away from it all holiday.

Lovely secluded area.

Just what I was looking for and the cottage was simply perfect. The hosts were kind, friendly and extremely helpful. It made our holiday peaceful and easy to get around. I can not recommend this cottage enough. Will definitely visit again!

Spotless. Welcome breakfast kit and cake were an unexpected surprise. The lodge is furnished with everything (and more) one wants on a holiday. Setting is idyllic. I could easily live there the way it’s furnished. The owners are amazing. I would return in a nanosecond. Could find no fault in anything.

Barn Shelly lodge is one of the best places we have stayed in.

My husband had never stayed in a wooden lodge he loved it and wanted to stay. So we have booked again for later in the year hopefully without the rain. The bits left by Audrey were very faultful and much appreciated and she made us feel welcome. All the comforts of home away from home.

Everything about the lodge was excellent, the finish and the quality of everything from towels to bedding to kitchen equipment was fabulous. The surroundings are beautiful and the views from every window are gorgeous as are the friendly sheep. Audrey was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We had a delicious home baked cake left amongst other local goodies for us to enjoy which was very much appreciated. We would recommend Barn Shelley Lodge to anyone and hope to return in the future for another relaxing holiday.

Pictures don’t quite do it justice - you just have to book it and be prepared to fall in love!!! It was exceptionally clean with high quality fittings, furniture etc. Hosts were helpful and attentive. We thoroughly recommend this log cabin! Perfectly situated to explore the whole of Devon as indeed we did!

Barn Shelley lodge was absolutely fantastic, I would go as far as to say it’s the best one yet ( although others have been good).

The owners were very nice and friendly without imposing. The setting was brilliant so peaceful, yet not too far from attractions. Everything you may need was included, the kitchen was above first class, it was fully equipped with high quality cutlery, crockery, pans, and utensils. The sofas were extremely comfortable and the beds gave you a wonderful nights sleep. There was plenty of literature about places to visit, there were torches should you need them. Having a washing machine and a dryer in the laundry room was a bonus as was a dishwasher in the kitchen. My wife and I said that it was the most restful and enjoyable holiday in this country that we have had.

We had a smashing weeks holiday.

We enjoyed the peace and quiet but found we were in easy distance from many tourist attractions. Audrey and Terry were fantastic we could not have wished for more. Thank you Jan and Alan

Wow, Barn Shelly is fabulous.

Sheer luxury, everything is to the highest specification. It is in a terrific location, for sight seeing, for footpaths on the door step, for a vast selection of great pubs within a 10-15 minute drive, for peace and quiet. What more could we ask for? What about a welcome pack - there was homemade apple juice, eggs, biscuits, bread , tea , coffee , milk and a friendly welcome from Audrey. The lodge is surrounded by fields with a pedigree flock to keep you entertained. We loved it and we are sure you will. The brochure photos do not do justice to Barn Shelly.

During our week storm Emma and what the BBC called “the beast from the east “ arrived.

The water pump froze so we had no water. Audrey and Terry worked tirelessly in freezing conditions to solve this problem and Audrey offered bottled water in the interim. The temperatures were sub zero and then snow arrived and we were truly snowed in. Audrey checked we were warm and comfortable throughout this bad weather and that we had everything we needed. On the day we were due to leave the snow was still bad and Audrey told us not to feel we had to leave and that we were welcome to stay an extra night until conditions improved. As we have a 4 wheel drive car we were able (just!!) to make our way to the main road. Audrey texted later in the afternoon to check we had got home safely. Audrey gave us a very warm welcome and we had a lovely welcome pack of cookies, milk, bread, apple juice & eggs. She provided excellent hospitality and comfort. The lodge itself was stunning. It was spotlessly clean and very well equipped with all mod cons you would ever need. We would certainly love to visit again but maybe in the summer next time!

We spent a very happy relaxing week with friends- and hope to return again. One of the best cottages we have stayed at. This cottage has it all: position, class and comfort - and fitted out to the highest specifications. Add to this a friendly helpful owner and you have the recipe for a perfect break!

The purpose built cabin was immaculately clean, extremely well equipped and very comfortable. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Being centrally located we could easily travel to all of the locations planned for our week. I would recommend Barn Shelley Lodge to anyone who wants a holiday cottage in Devon.

Lovely warm, clean, comfortable accommodation and really well equipped.

Audrey the owner was very nice and had provided a range of food on our arrival. We would recommend the lodge and in fact, we already have.

This was one of the best cottages/lodges we have stayed in.

It was private and quiet but had all the facilities and relatively close access to the pursuits i.e. Fishing and Golf that we needed. The owners were very friendly and extremely helpful.
