Lovely riverside accommodation, incredible views of the river estuary.

The house was lovely inside and full of character, with plenty of space and some lovely communal areas. the kitchen was ample sized and well stocked. The outside spaces were lovely, a nice terrace at the front with a view of the river, nice for evening drinks, and a private space at the back for meals and barbecue. our host Sara was very friendly and helpful, with lots of tips for things to do and navigating the river. We really enjoyed paddleboarding which was very easy from the house itself, and had nice trips to NT sites at Coleton Fishacre and Overland Abbey

This place has a fantastic location, its beautiful, its peaceful, but still has everything you require just a short walk away.

The view across the estuary is a true highlight. The house its self felt more like a home rather than a holiday rental, For me that is a good thing! you have everything you could possibly need within the house. We had a fantastic week, and look forward to visiting again at some point in the future

Mixed review The location is superb, looking out over the estuary from the balcony is every thing we'd hoped it to be.

Lovely to just watch the boats, Egrets and Herons. Be prepared for a very tight squeeze for three cars as the space provided is for other residents also. There is a steep climb up steps and then further steep steps up into the accommodation. Then if you are on the top floor more stairs to negotiate. Getting our luggage in was exhausting. As stated the house is shared by not only the owners but more permanent tenants below who made it quite clear that we were a nuisance. Not uttering a word to us for the entire week. Also the owners were very visibly on site throughout our stay. The house is fairly well furnished but without a fitted kitchen there was little worktop area. It was clean and there was a nice welcome pack. Careful, the hot water taps are scalding hot!! The plastic table on the balcony is unsteady so watch your drinks. One of the downstairs bedrooms was like something out of an antique shop, very, very dated. Possibly decorated for older visitors but we found the fox hunting vibe offensive. One of the bathrooms was shabby but clean and all the taps were too short for the basins. Some of the doors were very squeaky and the microwave had no visible timer markings so was hard to operate without setting your watch! The upstairs shower is a tight squeeze and difficult for anyone over 5ft to operate comfortably. The bathmat was not stable and I sustained a nasty bruise to my inner thigh after slipping. If you are staying with an infant or toddler you will need to bring at least two stairgates. There is one provided if you ask but it's not the most stable and was flimsy. The highchair was broken with the central fitting having rough plastic and the baby was able to push her way under it to try and get out. The strap was black with mould also. The wifi was extremely challenging and without a Vodafone or BT mobile signal in the area we had no way of communication throughout the week although Sara did attempt to sort it without success, we had to get over it. Also such a shame about the dying oak tree in front which ruined the view of the estuary and is in need of some serious pruning and tlc to save it. One last thing. On the last morning we were surprised to be invaded by cleaners just before the 10am deadline making us feel uneasy as we packed up the last of our luggage into the car. We had never experienced this before with dozens of other cottage stays. Because of this we left, feeling uneasy, wondering what we had left behind! Lovely area, would love to return but not to Galanda!

This is a lovely property with fabulous views, in a tranquil spot.

There is access to the river which we swam in, and if you walk further up the woodland path there is a really nice private spot to swim at the end. There are some lovely beaches in easy reach. The house is well equiped, and the owner is very helpful.

This has to be one of the best holiday properties we have experienced, an excellent stay.

We had a wonderful time at Galanda staying right on the bank of the river yealm.

It is a beautiful and peaceful place and fantastic for those with interests revolving around the river. We spent time paddle boarding, crabbing, fishing (unsuccessfully!!), open water swimming and wildlife spotting. All of this was available with a 2 minute walk down to the private jetty. The house was perfect for us. we had 4 kids with us and still felt like we had plenty of space, everything we needed during our stay was available. We loved the wider area too. The 3 pubs in Newton Ferrers / Noss Mayo are welcoming and provide quality food and drink. There are causeways which link across the estuaries in the villages at low tide, but take care as the tide comes in very quickly. The local beaches are beautiful, we visited Mothercome Bay which was a brilliant for rock pooling and the usual beach pursuits. A wonderful holiday had by all of us, the host Sara was helpful and friendly and gave good advice on things to do locally. We plan to return to this hidden gem in the future when we can.

The house is in a fantastic peaceful location, we enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the morning and eating breakfast to out in the evening with a drink and a view down the river - .

Paddle boarding on the river walking in the woods. And for those music fans a piano, ok for pop and ragtime. Plenty of separate space throughout the house.

It was a beautiful house in a wonderful location.

We found Galangal Treetops to be very well equipped and comfortable for our group of five adultsand two children.

Sara was helpful with local knowledge and telling us about crabbing off their jetty located across the road from the cottage. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and loved exploring the area.

A comfortable and spacious villa, with fabulous views of the Yealm, well equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay.

The host Sara was extremely helpful. The pubs were an easy paddle away in our kayaks which you can launch close to the property, or by walking across the vos (causeway) when the tide is out, and it was lovely to walk along the riverside footpath to the local shops. Hope to be back next year.

Lovely accommodation, pretty much as described.

The living / dining / kitchen area is nice and spacious - although if you were a large group you might be a bit squished as there are two 3 seater sofas. The balcony is great, just room for 4 people to sit though, and does overlook the downstairs terrace. We were told the terrace at the front is shared, but we didn't really want to use it as the downstairs flat use it as their only outside space, and their patio door overlooks it a lot. There's a much more private space at the back, however without the lovely view of the river. Inside the kitchen is well equipped, you'll need to bring your own kitchen roll, condiments, washing power/liquid etc, but there are dishwasher tablets, tinfoil, refuse sacks and salt (plus some herbs and spices). Only one toilet roll supplied per bathroom, so do bring more! The downstairs bathroom has a very weak flush, I would strongly recommend using the upstairs one for anything more than a wee. Wi-fi router is in the kitchen, so if you have teenagers don't put them in the smaller bedroom on the top floor as the signal doesn't reach well that far. Mobile signal worked for EE on 4g fortunately. In the local area there are some lovely walks through the woods to the right of the property - the public footpath goes all the way alongside the river (ignore the private sign, that's for cars not pedestrians). In the village we visited the deli few times (lovely food, and a great breakfast) and the pub for dinner (also delicious).

We loved thd house but felt it was tired, lots of chipped cups and plates.

We were a but shocked at the size of the fridge freezer fir a house that slept 8 adults. The location was great for the river access We took a paddleboard and had great fun. Parking was a bit hard because again we had 8 adults in 4 cars. Host was brilliant. Would def go again.

Well equipped. Great views. Very quiet area. Not far to travel for beach, supermarket and Plymouth by car, all within 10 miles.

We have just returned from Galanda Treetops and we can't recommend it enough.

The house is very spacious, clean and in the most amazing location. We will definitely be returning. Also, Sara the host is a lovely lady who was very friendly and helpful. Newton Ferrers really is a hidden gem, and feel very lucky to have found it!

Second time we have been to this holiday cottage and it is quickly becoming my favourite place to spend a week away.

When we arrived the first things I saw were dirt and hairs in the hallway and hairs and food on the kitchen floor, work tops and dead flies and yet my son had been told on arrival a few minutes earlier it had just been cleaned!

I spent an hour and a half cleaning and sterilising all the worktops, bedside cabinets, tables , table lamps, etc. and the cloth was filthy between each item. . There was dirt and cobwebs on the window sills in the twin bedroom where my poor granddaughter who was just recovering from a serious illness was expected to sleep. Covid precautions were actually non existent. The one saving grace were the comfortable beds and clean linen. A relief after the rest of the surfaces . There are several rugs dotted about the house on slippery floors and a couple with turned up edges. Tripping hazards. Also between the kitchen and laundry room there was a piece of loose wood being used as a floor connector and I tripped over it three times and my husband did twice before propping it up against a worktop! It should have been fixed down. The door to the back patio has a bolt that only one member of our party could actually push in as it doesn’t fit the warped door properly. Finally to our horror when my husband decided to check that nothing had been left in any drawers in the laundry room he opened one easily reached by a child only to discover it contained Paracetamol, Buscopan and various other medications. This experience was such a disappointment when it could have been really wonderful in such a special spot. However, shabby chic can be charming and would have been but not dirty shabby chic.

The location was stunning and the laid back hospitality of Sarah and her family perfect.

The open plan layout of the apartment was perfect for family time.

The house was lovely in a quiet village.

Could do with some up dating. The down stairs bathroom was a little to old fashioned for us .The bedrooms down stairs could do with refreshing perhaps a new coat of paint. Bathroom up stairs was to small to have a wash in and if you are tall mind your head .The main bedroom was fine the bed was to soft for us ,but it was nice to see the stars at through the sky lights. But in all a good base to explore out and about and be warned the roads are very narrow. The village is about 20 mins walk ,the pubs are the dolphin which is very friendly. The ship is in noss mayo ,you can get to it when the tide goes out and also the swan but dont get stuck there when the tide comes in or you will have to walk around (it's a very long walk ).There is also no chip shop in the village you will have to drive to one it's about 15mins away it's called the Brixton chip shop. Morrisons and Tesco are also a drive away but there is a coop in the village it's only small .

Super comfy beds in good sized rooms. Nice sociable layout of living areas and clean and tidy. Newton Ferrers is a great village with friendly locals and a welcoming pub. I would 100% recommend this property.

Galanda Treetops is in the most idyllic spot in a wonderful village.

We were entranced by the view, watching yachts come and go in the estuary. We visited for a long weekend to go to a wedding and really didn't do justice to this lovely house. However we did manage one of the walks recommended in the welcome pack. Amazing. Ended up at the Swan in Noss Mayo - a perfect moment. We were all very comfortable in the house. Sara was very helpful. Thank you!

It has only "met" our expectations because we had the same cottage last year.

For our extended family, children and grandchildren, this must be the best cottage on the River Yealm.

Property was in need of a little tlc

The location was perfect and the owners were very accommodating about the extra vehicles we brought with us.

It was brilliant to be able to launch kayaks straight off the private jetty and the views from the balcony upstairs are absolutely stunning. Walking to the Dolphin pub is a great way to work up an appetite and the Co Op, bakery and butcher provide any ingredients necessary for self catering - the pastries from the bakery and the sausage rolls from the butcher are a must-try! We are delighted to have found this lovely property and can thoroughly recommend it.

Cleanliness could have been better.

Dirty marks on carpet, throws and dining chair seats. Ceiling lights look as though they haven't been washed for months. One bedroom, only hanging space was coat hooks on wall, second bedroom only hanging space was coat stand. Lower bathroom no mixer tap and water extremely hot. Could do with warning sign for children. Fantastic view.

A great location for lazing on the river, picturesque and quiet.

Not the easiest to access, narrow roads and steps but worth the effort.

Wonderful accommodation, suited us as a family celebrating a significant birthday.

Facilities were excellent everything you could ask for and the little touch of a vase of flowers, biscuits and eggs from the chickens at the back made you feel a little bit special. Fantastic views over the river and very relaxing. 3 great pubs almost on your doorstep (ferry ride to Noss Mayo and 10 minute walk to 2 of them and the one in Newton Ferrers was a 15 minute walk). Mothecombe beach was our favourite. A 15 minute drive away, although the cafe at the car park was very over priced, obviously has a captive audience, so take your own refreshments.

The view from the balcony and easy access to the river was wonderful.

My children enjoyed splashing around, a must is to take a kayak or paddleboard as lots of fun to be had to while away the hours.

The accommodation was extremely spacious and very well provided with everything you could need in a self catering holiday home.

The situation was beautiful and extremely peaceful. We would definitely recommend it.
