We enjoyed two weeks at this lovely cottage, we where very comfortable the garden and view across the field's fantastic also all the different birds coming onto the feeders was delightful, .

our hosts where very helpful and friendly area around about is beautiful. Would certainly recommend this property.

Spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable cottage.

We had a very restful and quiet stay in beautiful countryside. No road noise or anything other than the birds in the garden on the feeders. So relaxing and the sunny weather was a great bonus . Plenty to see in the area including NT Knightshayes and Killerton. Lyme Regis is about 40 mins drive and Sidmouth is nice too. Used the Park & Ride to get into Exeter and the quayside is very pretty. Very welcoming and helpful hosts and a nice goody pack.

The Lodge is so quiet and peaceful, we loved watching the birds in the garden and the fields beyond - the best dining table view we've had for a very long time!

It's well equipped, spotlessly clean and within easy reach of so many wonderful days out. The owners are welcoming and friendly.

Very welome from our hosts. Clean, everything is there, good bed, complte kitchen, wonderfull garden with table and chairs. Lovely wildlife, we counted 14 different gardenbirds. Best of the best, was the second time we were there. Thanks to our hosts

A lovely spacious accommodation in a very quiet country setting.

Loved watching the amazing variety of birds from the dining table. Local pub and community shop was very handy and plenty of interest to be found around about.

This was by far the best holiday accommodation I have stayed at and that amounts to hundreds of properties all over the UK The garden was lovely and watching the birds on the bird feeders was delightful

Spacious, clean, warm with everything needed for a holiday.

The outlook from the sitting room was lovely and we especially enjoyed watching the birds on the feeders. There is lots to do in the area and a friendly village pub and community shop within walking distance.

We had a friendly welcome and light touch during our stay from the owners; just what we needed.

It is in a quiet rural location with nice views but with easy access to the M5. It is ideal for touring both South and North Devon. Nice welcome pack of bread ,jam butter ,tea and coffee. Ideal for people who have limited mobility .The owners Tony and Marilyn were very friendly.

Such a delight to return. This is a lovely property, beautifully maintained and comfortable with everything required for a relaxing stay. The large variety of birds in the garden at the feeders are a delight to watch. There are many interesting places to visit in this area including National Trust, coastal and river walks. The owners are very welcoming. Highly recommended.

Could do with information leaflets on nearest doctor, dentist, hospital etc and also supermarkets.

You just knew as you pulled up that it was going to be a lovely holiday home and it just got better as you entered and saw the lovely views from the lounge windows.

A large property with comfortable furniture and very comfy beds. Everything that you needed was available and some essentials were left in addition. One of the nicest holiday properties we have stayed in and I suffer with mobility problems but found everything perfect especially the walk in shower.

A lovely cottage in a very quiet location with beautiful views.

We could not fault it in any way and the owners are helpful and friendly. Having a local pub with decent food within 5 minutes walk is a real bonus. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again.

An extremely comfortable and pleasant stay, the cottage is first class.

The views are great over across the back garden out onto the valley. Everywhere was clean within the property, couldn't fault the place.

The Lodge was Spotless. There was a great Welcome by our Hosts Tony and Marilyn. Including Goodies upon our arrival. We visited 2 National Trust' within local area - Very nice. Also a must - Is the Museum at Honiton - Well worth a visit. Community Shop is Well Stocked. Blacksmith Arms serves Excellent Food. We hope to return for a 2nd visit. Lovely cottage with stunning views from the lounge.

Very clean and comfortable with good facilities provided. Also, recommend eating at The Blacksmiths Arms, 5 mins walk away. Very good food and friendly atmosphere.

We had a lovely stay at Pipistrelles, great accomodation which is what we wanted.

Ideal location for visiting Exeter, Lyme Regis, Sidmouth, Beer beach and other such activities. Friendly hosts, wildlife in the garden watching the birds etc. Comfortable bed, great shower, kitchen has everything you should need, when on holiday.

The best self catering we have stayed in.

So comfortable and extremely well equipped. Lovely hosts, great location, fabulous views from the garden. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Pipistrelles is to dye for, it is absolutely beautiful and luxurious.

Wow what a gorgeous property.

The hosts Marilyn and Tony were lovely. The garden was amazing with a whole host of visiting birds. Lovely to relax and sit watching the birds whilst eating your meals as a feeder was just outside the window. Lovely to see Woodpeckers up so close. Even had a tawny and barn. Owl visit the garden. The property itself is ideally located to travel into North or South Devon with so much to do and visit. You could stay near or travel a couple of hours and be in Plymouth for example. Lyme Regis, Beer and Branscombe are only an hour a way. Would definitely recommend this property to anyone. So so lovely. 5 stars again for Sykes Cottages.

Very enjoyable stay in a lovely cottage attached to the owners property.

Views from the lounge are enhanced by the opportunity to watch many different bird types taking advantage of the many bird feeders located in the garden. The owners, Tony and Marilyn are always available but not intrusive making us very welcome and providing a selection of food items to greet us. We recommend this property to anyone who wants to relax but be in easy reach of the South Devon coast.

Wonderful holiday, cottage well equipped, cosy and warm.

The hosts Tony and Marilyn were so welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The view from lounge window over Tony's garden had us spellbound watching the birds feeding and darting back to their nests feeding young,

This is a lovely property, both internally and externally.

We received a warm welcome from the owners. The property was very clean, well maintained and provided everything we needed. There were lovely views across the fields from the dining room table. The property can only be accessed through country lanes, which are a bit of a maze, and at the time of our visit (early April) they were muddy and waterlogged.

It was nice to meet our friendly hosts.

The property was well presented with obvious attention to detail.We enjoyed a very comfortable stay. From the lounge views were very good, the bird feeding station in the garden was well used by many small birds with a bonus woodpecker and a couple squirrels. The south coast is within easy reach. We will be revisiting Pipistrelle Lodge.

Absolutely amazing.

Beautiful property, wonderful views. Very comfortable, clean and tidy with excellent facilities. Tony and Marilyn made us feel so welcome. A short walk each morning to Plymtree Community Village shop was lovely. Shop and staff so friendly and welcoming. Faultless week away, would highly recommend staying at Pipistrelle Lodge.

Our second stay at Pipistrelle Lodge and another great week there, Marilyn and Tony made us feel very welcome, the welcome pack was a bonus after a long drive from Lincolnshire.

The general setting of the lodge gives you a beautiful view over the rolling Devon countryside from the big lounge window. Bird feeders are placed so you can watch the bird life and squirrels whilst having your breakfast or meals. A lovely clean and well maintained property equipped with all you need for a weeks stay. We would highly recommend a stay at Pipistrelle.

Excellent property for couple and well placed to explore all that Devon has to offer.

Marylin and Tony keep the property immaculate both inside and out and the view from the living room and patio is awesome. Excellent facilities and the living room very comfortable. We will most likely return for another stay next year

Nice place great hosts beautiful garden

Like prevous guests, weenjoyed the peace and quiet of Pipistrelles and the lovely views of the garden and the rolling countryside beyond.

The patio area was also very pleasant and a credit to the owners. However, also like some other guests, we fouind the narrow approach lanes around Plymtree a little offputting and not particularly 'charming'. The accommodation itself is clean and spacious but not particularly well equipped with kitchen accessories for self-catering. Also as others have commented, we fouind the settee in the lounge uncomfortable and difficult to get up from.

We feel corrections to the property description are required as the Hob was electric (not gas) and the Fridge/Freezer was actually a Fridge with only a small Ice Box.

The cottage was lovely and clean with wonderful views and a beautiful garden to enjoy with much wildlife to watch. The dishwasher is very small so it does not hold very much and the larger dinner plates would not fit in as not much height to it. The sofa, as someone else commented is very low and you sank into it, the dining chairs you also sank into making you too low at the table but we used the chairs from the kitchen. The pillows we found very firm - maybe a soft and a firm would be good? Be prepared for very narrow winding roads if you are not used to them! These are our personal views and just minor points which could be useful to know. Overall a lovely clean, comfortable cottage with very friendly and helpful owners and we very much enjoyed our week here.

Pipistrelle Lodge was perfect for us.

We had short days out at on of the many local attractions, and plenty of time doing not very much other than watching the birds. Dozens and dozens of them on the feeders in the beautiful garden. If you can’t find the cottage when you first arrive, like us, turn up the road opposite the church.

Excellent well appointed property all on one level with a great outlook across the fields.

The owners are very friendly and ready to advise on places to visit. If you are interested in birds there are well stocked bird feeders right outside the lounge window. A good location for visiting Devon and convenient for the M5 motorway.

Pipistrelle Lodge is a nice place with everything you need.

Nice helpfull owners en a wonderfull view at the backside. The perfect place for the daytrips we made to Tiverton, Exeter, Lyme Regis and a beautifull erea to make some local walks. Gr. Hans and Marga

Pipistrelle Lodge was an excellent base to explore East Devon.

There were good walks off road or on quiet lanes from the house and Plymtree was a lovely friendly village with good amenities. The property was spacious with far reaching rural views and was a credit to the helpful hosts.

This was a delightful cottage for our visit to Devon.

The cottage was immaculate, clean, warm and comfortable. We were surprised at how big the cottage was giving us plenty of room to spread out. Our comfort was enhanced by the lovely hosts who were keen to ensure that we enjoyed our stay.

A lovely, comfortable cottage in a quiet village setting.

Pippistrelle Lodge is conveniently located for a number of South Devon coastal resorts and other local attractions. The owners are friendly and welcoming and are on hand for any help or advice if required. The lodge is fairly spacious and well equipped with a shared patio area and garden. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!

We stayed for two weeks in July, during the heatwave - unfortunately, it was too warm/bright to spend time on the patio (unusual problem, I know!

) Spacious property in a good location - ideal base for exploring the area. We liked the fact that the lounge area was well separated from the kitchen and the large shower room/toilet was not en-suite. The owners were friendly and welcoming, but left us to our own devices. The welcome essentials (bread, milk & butter) were appreciated. Sheets/towels were changed mid-stay, which was good. We would have preferred net curtaining on the bedroom windows - the bedroom is visible from the road (although there is a driveway in between and very little passing by), but a minor point. We also found the settee a little low for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it (and maybe return ourselves in the future) One tip - anyone wishing to dine at the local inns would be advised the check when they are open (quite a few only open a few days a week).

The owners were such a warm, welcoming couple for which nothing was too much trouble. The shared garden is beautiful with outstanding views over the surrounding countryside and the bungalow is roomy for two and adequately furnished.The location is central to many places of interest and within easy reach of the coast.

Pipistrelle lodge is a great place to stop, very comfortable a real home away from home. Very convenient for local attractions and very peaceful after a day out. All you need is provided plus a few extra's to make you feel welcome.

Quite possibly the best place we have ever stayed at.

Spacious accommodation with everything you could need set in a fabulous location with a spectacular view. Before you even venture out, the garden and patio that you have access to is lovely, and the owners make you very welcome indeed. The bird life is amazing and we spotted 18 species in the garden alone. It was great watching the woodpeckers feed then swoop down to the pond for a drink. In the village is a community run shop and friendly pub where the food choice is more than adequate if you don’t want to drive too far. The town of Collumpton is about 4 miles away with various shops, pubs and takeaways, and a Tesco and Aldi. There is so much to do in this part of the country that a week is simply not long enough. We can thoroughly recommend the National Trust properties at Killerton, Knighthayes and Coleton Fishacre where the gardens and scenery are stunning. Also the botanical gardens at Bicton are worth a visit. Treat yourself to breakfast at Fordmore farm shop and cafe just down the road, and a cream tea at the Old Well garden centre one junction up the M5. We will be back!

The house was very comfortable and clean and had all the home comforts you could hope for. The use of the really beautiful garden made it all the more perfect. Lovely central area for getting around, although walks just around the village area were great too. Pub just down the road does lovely food.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful part of the country.

Plymtree is sufficiently off the beaten track to be peaceful but is a convient starting point for lots of trips. The accommodation is spacious and the hosts extremely welcoming. The garden is idyllic, overlooking green fields and filled with birdsong.

We had heard it was an excellent holiday home and it really was.

We were welcomed. Everything was spotless and we couldn't have wished for more. My husband is disabled and he was able to get around easily. An extra chair was provided in the shower space for him. He felt safe and secure in there too. Birdsong, peace and a lovely view were an added bonus. Come prepared for country lanes!

We had a wonderful week at Pipistrelle.

So peaceful and calm, clean and tidy. The shower is excellent. The only drawback for me was the bed was rather soft.. I know that many people like a soft mattress so it is a case of personal preference....

This is an excellent holiday let and I feel that the write up doesn't do it justice it it much much nicer than expected.

It is without doubt the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in; a spacious bungalow it offers comforts that far outweigh other holiday lets such as comfortable seating, heavy curtains, and a Hypnos bed. From the sitting room window extensive views of the Devonshire countryside will take your breath away. Far from the madding crowds Pipistrelle is a place for rest and quietude where mind, body and soul is recharged and refreshed.

This is the nicest lodge we have ever stayed in.

It was spotless and we wanted for nothing even the wifi was great. The owners Marilyn and Tony were fantastic, giving us local information, places we might like to visit and providing us with a welcome pack which exceeded our expectations. Owners cottage is attached but completely separate, not intrusive at all. Shared patio and full use of the garden. Lovely views from the lounge window and bird feeders to watch many varieties of birds that come to eat the seeds and nuts. Very helpful and ready to answer any questions if needed. Lovely quiet village with small shop and pub serving delicious evening meals. Lots of things to see and do in the area as well as walks straight from the door. Highly recommend this cottage.

Building work noice Interrupted our peace for two days.

Buildet on the sight making noice from 10am to 7.00pm. This was not Expected and was not told to us earlier otherwise we would have not postponed our holiday hrnce it would be appropriate to refund our money for those two noisy days. We sent you an text 4 days ago and No body have yey bothered to contact us listening to our complaint. Disappointing.n

This cottage was immaculate, clean, comfortable and the owners were very nice.

We love the bird feeders outside the window and the views. The community shop five minutes walk away was an added bonus, basic items and much more. The Blacksmith Arms is only open in the evenings weekdays Saturday midday and evening and Sunday lunch. We would definitely recommend this cottage.

We loved the accommodation, which was spacious, comfortable, warm, very quiet and well-equipped.

It was good to have 2 TVs, which allowed us to watch different programmes at the same time. The owners are very pleasant and kindly provided a number of food and drink items. There was a nice view across the fields. We saw lots of different birds and it was amusing to see squirrels trying to reach the bird feeders. We did a lot of walking, some of it on way-marked field paths but much of it on very quiet lanes. We ate twice at the village pub, which was very good, and once at The Merry Harriers at Westcott, which was excellent; this was an easy 2½ mile walk along the quiet lane. We visited Killerton Park and Gardens (National Trust) and did a pleasant 4 mile walk. The weather was dry the whole time, which was good for January.

The Owners could not have been friendlier or more helpful and dealt with any problems extremely well.

The lodge was very spacious, warm, comfortable with beautiful views of the local countryside.

The owners were friendly and very helpful and made us very welcome. The Village of Plymtree was attractive with a lovely old church. The only problem was the local roads are very narrow and difficult with oncoming traffic especially large lorries but most drivers were sensible we avoided any accidents. Being National Trust members we visited most of the local homes in the area as far away as Plymouth. Up until the last 2 days the weather was warm and sunny but then Storm Calann arrived and the wind blew all the leaves from the trees which up until that point were changing colour and looked wonderful. All in all we enjoyed our trip and stay.

Exceptionally clean, well furnished and warm. It was a joy to return. Home from home and the owners are lovely people. Very suitable for disabled as I was and the bathroom was fine.
