Pylemoor Cottage, situated a little under four miles from Tiverton, is a delightful detached retreat set within the quiet hamlet of Washfield, where far-reaching countryside views and thoughtful touches create a warm welcome for two couples, families and friends.

Parking beside this gorgeous six-hundred-year-old home, you follow the steps to the unlocked gate and as it opens, a beautiful sweep of landscape appears behind you, setting the tone for the character within.

Stepping inside the kitchen, the central island encourages you to pause while warmth from the AGA and underfloor heating fills the room, with the induction hob, electric double oven and microwave bringing ease to relaxed mealtimes.

The utility provides a practical space with a washing machine, tumble dryer and an unexpected table tennis table, along with a cloakroom, and from here doors lead to a south-facing terrace and a footpath to the rear.

Returning indoors, the living and dining room invites you to unwind at the circular table or settle on the corner sofa in front of the large Smart TV, with doors opening to the patio when the weather allows.

Climbing upstairs, the second sitting room offers a peaceful haven lit by a Velux window with a woodburning stove creating a gentle glow across the corner sofa and additional seating.

The first bedroom features a super king-size zip-link bed in a spacious room with a Velux window and an en suite that pairs a freestanding bath with a walk-in shower, basin and WC, while the second super king-size bedroom mirrors this generous scale with its own freestanding bath and handheld shower.

At the rear, the garden blends patio and lawn to create a serene outdoor space ideal for quiet moments as the countryside settles into evening.

Beyond the cottage, Exmoor National Park awaits with its sweeping moorland and open views, Dunster Castle offers atmospheric rooms, garden terraces and woodland walks, Lyme Regis entices with its harbour curve, fossil rich shoreline and vibrant streets, and Tiverton brings peaceful canal paths, heritage boats and historic castle walls, all helping to shape a truly memorable stay at this remarkable Devon property.

About the location

TIVERTON

Crediton 12 miles; Exeter 14 miles; Taunton 21 miles.

The largest town in Mid Devon, visit Tiverton for echoes of the past including a romantic castle, and horse-drawn barge trips on the idyllic Grand Western Canal. Occupying a strategic position on two rivers, the Exe and the Lowman, brought Tiverton wealth as a flourishing textile town, resulting in many fine buildings. These include the Jacobean Great House of St. George, three medieval almshouses, and the fantastic parish church of St. Peter with its remarkable frieze of merchant vessels with billowing sails. Another famous building is Old Blundells, immortalised by former pupil R.D. Blackmore in his classic Lorna Doone. However, the town's most famous building is beautiful Tiverton Castle, a royal fortress commissioned in 1106 by Henry I. Find out more about Tiverton's rich heritage at the award-winning Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life, with 14 galleries of exhibits including the Tivvy Bumper GWR locomotive.
