    “The house was spotlessly clean, the beds were super comfy and it was always lovely and warm.”

    We stayed over Christmas and they had put a tree up and some decorations. My in-laws live just a few doors away so all of us who are allergic to their cat stayed at Moorstone and even the most asthmatic of us had no issues with allergies in the house. The kitchen has the largest selection of baking trays ever seen but no colander and could have benefitted from some mixing bowls and a strainer for the cutlery, all minor niggles. All the rooms were larger than they look in the photos. The house is of its time and therefor dated but a perfect base for all the wonderful hidden gems of North Dartmoor. Highly recommend wild swimming at Shilley pool, the board walk (under Dry Bridge and past the 3 houses on the right), a walk across Cosdon Beacon to the Tors inn at Belstone and Castle Drogo to Fingle Bridge Inn (best fish and chips). Recycling bins are in the garage, put out Monday night for Tuesday collection. N.B for the owners - the wifi router plug is not working, we were able to borrow one from friends in the village but it will need replacing before your next visitors. It meant our teenagers spent more time at granny's house for the first couple of days stealing their wifi!

If the weather allows, light the barbecue, and unwind upon the rear patio, nestled within your private, enclosed garden, bordered by mature shrubs and echoed by birdsong.

SOUTH ZEAL

Okehampton 4.6 miles; Exeter 19.3 miles.

Situated on the very northern edge of the Dartmoor National Park, South Zeal is a lovely small village offering an excellent base for walkers. Some of the wildest parts of the moors lie within easy walking distance, while the larger town of Okehampton is just under five miles away. South Zeal is home to two pubs and a village shop, offering all the essentials for a self-catered stay. Nearby attractions include the National Trust's Castle Drogo, Stone Lane Gardens, The Miniature Pony Centre, Okehampton Castle and the Beck Falls Ancient Woodland Park.

The owner has a dog and might use the property occasionally. Please kindly note in case the guests have pet allergies.
