  • “The Linhay is a beautiful holiday home.”

If you’re looking for peace, quiet and stunning views but the ability to travel to some stunning beaches then this is the place to be. The accommodation is well laid out, the kitchen well equipped, the hot tub a bonus and the owner really helpful (thank you for the eggs and scones they were delicious!)

Accessed via a single track road, this luxury property is the perfect base for a couple, small family or group wanting to retreat to solitude in the countryside.

There are a few steps up onto the porch, where several coat hooks and ample storage space for shoes and boots will greet you, before heading inside the property to discover a stunning open-plan living room.

This bright and spacious room has large French doors that showcase views of the rolling countryside that surrounds the property, as well as a sleek, fully-fitted kitchen with a breakfast bar and dining table, so you can choose where to enjoy your home-cooked meals, while the charming seating area offers a large L-shaped sofa to relax onto at the end of a day of exploration, placed in front of the Smart TV, ideal for enjoying a family movie night, or for a more peaceful end to your evening, grab a book from the book shelf and curl up.

Open the French doors and step out onto the terrace, where you can kick back on the outdoor sofa while the chef of the group gets the barbecue going, and to top off a wonderful alfresco evening, climb into the hot tub and soak up your tranquil surroundings.

When sleep is calling, retreat to one of two spacious bedrooms, a double and twin, each with their own contemporary en-suite shower room, where you can prepare for each day with a refreshing rinse.

Explore your surroundings and venture into the village of Cadeleigh, just over two miles away from the property and home to a gastropub serving delicious food.

Slightly further afield is the town of Tiverton, which offers a selection of shops, supermarkets, pubs and restaurants to either pick up any essentials or to enjoy a night off from cooking.

Stroll along the River Exe, which runs right through the town, and pay a visit to the 17th century Tiverton Castle, which displays English Civil war artefacts.

Learn more about the history of the area at the Tiverton Museum Of Mid Devon Life and be sure to pay a visit to the National Trust's Knightshayes Court, a Victorian mansion set within extensive grounds with surrounding woodland you can explore on foot.

Take a horse-drawn barge trip along the canal, before wandering through the nature reserve that rests close by to see a variety of wildlife, and cyclists can take on the eight-mile route that runs from the canal towards the Somerset border.

Keen walkers will relish the chance to explore the rolling hills and moorland of Exmoor National Park, before heading to Aston Manor Brewery to spend an afternoon sampling delicious, locally-produced cider.

The cathedral city of Exeter is around a 30-minute drive away, with a host of attractions to admire, while the incredible coastline and picturesque sandy beaches along North Devon's coast can be reached within an hour.

About the location

TIVERTON

Crediton 12 miles; Exeter 14 miles; Taunton 21 miles.

The largest town in Mid Devon, visit Tiverton for echoes of the past including a romantic castle, and horse-drawn barge trips on the idyllic Grand Western Canal. Occupying a strategic position on two rivers, the Exe and the Lowman, brought Tiverton wealth as a flourishing textile town, resulting in many fine buildings. These include the Jacobean Great House of St. George, three medieval almshouses, and the fantastic parish church of St. Peter with its remarkable frieze of merchant vessels with billowing sails. Another famous building is Old Blundells, immortalised by former pupil R.D. Blackmore in his classic Lorna Doone. However, the town's most famous building is beautiful Tiverton Castle, a royal fortress commissioned in 1106 by Henry I. Find out more about Tiverton's rich heritage at award-winning Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life, with 14 galleries of exhibits including the Tivvy Bumper GWR locomotive.
