The cottage Needs a proper deep clean the kitchen bin was filthy and had rat droppings at the bottom of it and had mould in the kitchen drawers and they need to replace items that are broken such as no door shelving in the fridge, broken garden furniture. Mouse droppings and dirty cloths in the cupboard in the utility room. The sideboard in the living room had board games and these were chewed from mice and had mice dropping as well. In the second main bedroom the bed had a fitted sheet on the bed that was too small and kept coming off which made for an uncomfortable nights sleep. I had a lot of other concerns but these are the main ones. The cottage is up for sale so maybe they don’t want the spend money on it or pay to get a proper cleaning company in? Overall we were very disappointed and it wasn’t value for money. Sykes needs to do more checks on there properties

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your stay at Trentishoe Coombe. I am very sorry to hear that aspects of the property did not meet your expectations and that these issues affected your enjoyment of your holiday. Having reviewed your comments and inspected the property myself, I fully accept that there were some areas, particularly within the utility cupboard and around the kitchen bins, that should have been identified and addressed during the changeover clean. These standards were not met on this occasion, and I am working directly with our housekeeping team to ensure greater attention is given to these areas in future. Following your feedback, I carried out a thorough inspection of the property. Whilst evidence of a mouse entering the utility cupboard was found, no further signs of activity were identified elsewhere in the house. Trentishoe Coombe is located in the heart of the rural Heddon Valley, where occasional wildlife incursions can occur, particularly during warmer weather when doors are frequently opened. However, I would like to reassure guests that I have found no evidence of an infestation and will continue to monitor the situation closely as a precaution. Regarding the fridge, the missing door shelves had already been removed for safety reasons after being damaged by previous guests, and replacement parts had been ordered prior to your stay. Unfortunately, these are currently on backorder with the manufacturer. The fridge remains fully functional, although I appreciate the missing storage was inconvenient. I have also reviewed the garden furniture and, although the damage had not previously been reported to me, I agree that it is now looking tired. As a result, I have decided to replace the furniture set. The concerns raised regarding the fitted sheet, television remote and the area of mould have also been noted and are being addressed. I would also like to reassure you that the property being offered for sale has no bearing on its upkeep or maintenance. Maintaining Trentishoe Coombe to a high standard remains extremely important to me, and I continue to invest in repairs, replacements and ongoing improvements to the property. Whilst some of the issues you highlighted should have been identified before your arrival, I was disappointed not to have been contacted during your stay, as several of these concerns could have been investigated and, where possible, resolved immediately. Nevertheless, I appreciate you bringing them to my attention, and the feedback has been taken seriously. Thank you again for your comments. Guest feedback is invaluable in helping me maintain and improve the experience at Trentishoe Coombe, and I am sorry that your stay did not fully meet your expectations. Property Owner
