“The accommodation is more isolated than the site tells you.”

The garden, although it has a 3' wire fence around it, is not secure for bigger dogs. We have two Golden retrievers, who cleared the fence with no trouble to explore the bigger field. Luckily, good recall brought them back, but you could not let them out by themselves for peace of mind; you had to be with them. Accommodation was comfortable, although we ate out most nights. Kitchen equipment was fine, although the cupboard doors were getting tired. The bathroom needs a new shower and a new pedestal for the basin, as it was all right if you are 4' tall, and the toilet seat needs fixing. The bedrooms were great, and the beds were fantastic. If you like isolation and a bit of walking, it was fantastic.

Thank you for your feedback. We're pleased you found the accommodation comfortable, enjoyed the comfortable beds and bedrooms, and found the kitchen well equipped. Thorny Tallet is a converted barn on our farm, offering guests a peaceful countryside retreat with views towards Dartmoor National Park. Many of our guests specifically choose it for its tranquil setting, beautiful scenery and easy access to wonderful walking, so we're glad you enjoyed those aspects of your stay. We appreciate your comments regarding the enclosed garden. While it is securely fenced for many dogs, larger or more adventurous breeds may still require supervision, and we will review how we describe this to help guests decide if it suits their pets' needs. Thank you also for bringing the maintenance items to our attention. We are already reviewing these as part of our ongoing programme of improvements to ensure the cottage continues to provide a comfortable stay for future guests. Property Owner

The fabulous Roadford Reservoir offers a multitude of watersport activities and fishing opportunities. Okehampton has a prominent medieval castle overlooking a wooded river valley, the Museum of Dartmoor Life and Okehampton train station, which has been restored to its 1950s glory: The Dartmoor Line now operates a service between Okehampton and Exeter every hour, 7 days a week. The town also has access to fabulous walks and Simmons Park where you’ll find a children’s adventure playground. This area of Devon has plenty of farm shops and country inns serving good food where visitors can spend time relaxing and unwinding amongst unspoilt countryside.
