The property

3 miles from Chagford is Sandsgate, a magnificent detached house with superb sweeping views across the River Teign valley to Chagford, Castle Drogo and the moors beyond.

It has been beautifully refurbished and extended with attention to detail and is large and roomy for one family, or flexible accommodation for groups of friends or family gatherings.

Approached down ¼ mile of private drive, it's set in 18 acres of large, lovely gardens with lawns, rockeries, ancient woodland and a prehistoric stone circle and is exceptionally peaceful.

Exeter, a 20 minute drive, and the sea, 40 minutes; golf, wonderful walking and children's attractions nearby.

A terrace (garden furniture) with far-reaching views stretches the whole length of the house.

Three sets of French windows lead into the main reception rooms: large L-shaped living room with deep sofas, large inglenook (open fire), TV &DVD; off it, a study; front entrance and cloakroom (loo); large T-shaped kitchen/dining room with massive dining tables/chairs, dresser, TV and toys for small children to play with whilst adults use the magnificent kitchen with dual-fuel range-style cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer and island with bar stools and granite worktops, or just relax in the sitting area and enjoy those views.

Rear entrance hall/boot room and cloakroom (loo); adjacent utility room (two washing machines, two tumble driers, drinks fridge).

Chagford: lively, friendly little town (pubs, shops, outdoor swimming pool, tennis) away from main roads in the shelter of high Dartmoor.

Past it the River Teign (fishing) hurries through woods and meadows below Castle Drogo (National Trust).

Excellent walking; superb views.

A picturesque town at the northern point of Dartmoor National Park in Devon. Chagford, one of the five Stannary towns of Dartmoor, is small in size but is packed with amenities and things to do. There is a wide range of shops as well as four pubs. Chagford also has more active facilities such as public tennis court and an open-air swimming pool to enjoy at your leisure. It is a town of great history, home to the Three Crowns Hotel which dates back to the 1200's. Chagford is well known for its culture, hosting film, literary and music festivals in the town as well as an annual running race, known as Two Hills Race. Just over 21 miles away is the bustling, beautiful city of Exeter for a different kind of break, definitely worth a visit. The charming, attractive town of Okehampton sits just 12 miles away.
