“We had a very enjoyable week in a lovely old thatched cottage, The Cottage is ideal for a couple and has been recently renovated and equipped to modern standards with everything you would need.”

The village is tucked away in a valley a mile or so inland and is crammed full of thatched cottages. Devon a century ago ! It has a thatched pub and a community shop , both within 70 metres of the cottage. The pub does good food and the shop caters for most needs , what more could you want.

About the location

STOKEINTEIGNHEAD

Shaldon 1.7 miles; Newton Abbott 4 miles; Torquay 6 miles.

Stokeinteignhead is a picturesque village nestled in a steep valley near the sea in south Devon. Lined with pretty thatched cottages, the narrow winding village streets house a traditional friendly pub, a community village shop, school and historic church. Nearby, Shaldon is an attractive fishing village nestling at the mouth of the River Teign, a river renowned for its cockles, mussels and salmon. With quaint cottages, individual shops and narrow streets lined with cafes, Shaldon is a place to wander, relax and enjoy life by the sea. The children will love the sandy beaches reached through Smuggler’s Tunnel, and adults and children alike will enjoy the botanical gardens and small zoo, followed by a traditional Devon cream tea. The Ness headland rises proudly above the mouth of the estuary, guarding the waters between Shaldon and the busy Victorian town of Teignmouth, offering some of the most stunning views in the West Country.

Note - It is advised that dogs should be kept on a lead when outside the cottage.

Please note: being an old cottage, a couple of the beams are quite low, and the stairs may be steep for some people - please take care.
