    The two bathrooms downstairs do not live up to the high standard of the rest of the house, the lower ground shower would not stay up to get underneath, and the adults staying in these rooms opted to use the upstairs showers when available. ...

    The two bathrooms downstairs do not live up to the high standard of the rest of the house, the lower ground shower would not stay up to get underneath, and the adults staying in these rooms opted to use the upstairs showers when available. In the lower room the bed had not been made up otherwise it would have been noted that the mattress was covered in biscuit crumbs. The small bath towels would not dry as the radiators were not on and labelled not to be switched on, these we draped in the bedrooms where the sun is. When we tried to hoover areas that were missed unfortunately the hoover was ineffective. The saucepans had the teflon scratched in all cases, which is unhygienic so were not used and the oven pan had not been cleaned, there were no other baking trays. There were no clear waste bags and we did feel that perhaps the house had not had the same clean and attention usually given by the Sykes cleaners. The house has many positives, the scones milk etc on arrival were very much appreciated and was a lovely touch. The house itself is in a fabulous position as we discovered staying at Landscombe last year, the views are amazing. We would very much like to consider returning to Skerries and feel the above areas could be very easily addressed and would very much like your comments. You may publish our comments if you wish but have not agreed in the box due to some negatives.

Near the centre of Strete, a fabulous detached house, recently extended with flair to create a stylish, contemporary home with glorious long views over fields to the sea from most windows.

To the front, a south-facing decked terrace (table/chairs, brilliant for sundowners) with views.

Steps down from the terrace to private and beautifully landscaped, Mediterranean-style garden which wraps around the house on three sides.

The entire garden is enclosed.

Inside, terrifically light and spacious with huge windows for the stunning views.

Heart-of-house kitchen/dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors to the terrace, all smartly fitted and well-equipped (dishwasher, microwave, freezer, larder fridge, two electric ovens/induction hob) with TV/DVD and leather sofa.

Living room with sliding glazed doors to terrace, smart TV/DVD/Blu-ray and open fire.

From the kitchen, stairs down to additional large sitting room with comfortable seating and sliding doors to lower terrace and garden beyond; shower-room (suite).

Two ground-floor double bedrooms, one with 5' bed and the other with sliding doors to own balcony.

Bathroom (suite, shower over bath).

Small kitchenette (washing machine, tumble drier, electric hob, sink) and back door to drive.

Upstairs, three further bedrooms - a stunning large double (5' bed) with floor-to-ceiling windows and lovely views, dressing room and bathroom (suite, two washbasins, plus large separate shower); another double (5' bed) with huge windows and en suite shower-room (suite); and a family room with 3' single and two 2'6" singles (zip-linkable to 5' double) and en suite shower-room (suite).

Damages Deposit £250.

A stunning family house with 180 degree coastal views in an enviable location, close to the village and Coast Path to Blackpool Sands. Strete: cliff-top village (good food pub, restaurant, PO/shop) ½ mile walk from a shingle beach.

Coast Path walk to secret cove (¾ mile).

Blackpool Sands (coarse sand, The Venus Café, Restaurant, Takeaway and Watersports), 1½ miles, and, a mile away, the magnificent crescent of Slapton Sands and Slapton Ley nature reserve (birdwatching, walks).

Dartmouth (restaurants, cinema, river trips, steam railway), 5 miles.

Strete is a village looking over Start Bay just south of Dartmouth.
