“Unfortunately, our stay was very disappointing, particularly given that the property was advertised as high-end accommodation.”
The cottage was extremely small and not particularly comfortable. There was a very strong damp smell from the sofa, as well as a persistent musty/mouldy smell throughout the property. There were cobwebs and dust in numerous areas, and the kitchen utensils and equipment were not clean and had to be washed before we could use them.
There was no welcome pack, and no towels were provided for the hot tub. The hot tub itself was stained and not presented in the condition we would expect. The patio was also covered in bird droppings when we arrived, which we had to clean ourselves before we could properly use the outdoor areas.
There was visible black mould around the shower, along with a particularly strong smell of damp. The shower was another major disappointment, with extremely poor water pressure. It took considerably longer than it should have to properly rinse and wash, making it very impractical.
For anyone with allergies or respiratory sensitivities, the amount of dust, damp and mould could be a significant concern.
The kitchen also had very limited cupboard space, with cupboards appearing to be filled with miscellaneous items and old equipment. The TV repeatedly lost channels and froze during our stay.
We also noticed a wasp/bee nest at the property.
Overall, the accommodation did not meet the standard we expected from a property advertised as high-end. It would benefit considerably from a thorough deep clean, attention to the damp and mould issues, and a general update and refurbishment.
We were so disappointed with the accommodation that we decided to cut our holiday short by two days. Unfortunately, we would not return to this property and would not recommend it based on our experience.
