Horseshoe Cottage

Very well equipped cottage and lovely and clean.

It was a perfect place to stay to visit the beaches and attractions and the heated pool was very much enjoyed especially by the grandchildren.

Beds are so comfortable we slept really well in them.

It was really hot when we stayed and I thought it was so thoughtful that fans had been placed in the room. Upstairs was very warm but lucky half of the family love heat so they enjoyed the rooms being warmer and took the upstairs rooms. The pool is great fun and lots of pool balls and float's. The only issue was the entrance had an over grown thorn bush which lightly scratched the van and we cut it back. I think it could do with a bigger sign outside the entrance or one that stands out more. My family and I really enjoy our stay I would book again if planning down in that part of the country again. Facilities were great, you are in the countryside and have to drive to get any shops but that was fine with us. Two different TV rooms meant no arguments over what we all watched. In regards to cleaning the house had all the stickers in bathrooms stating they had been cleaned however I do think a good even once a month a good run round the house to remove cobwebs would benefit. A few scratches some doors from previous pets but that’s to be expected as it’s a pet friendly house. Kids enjoyed games room. I think it would have been good if they had a welcome pack with information in it for example where to empty the house bin and when that bin gets emptied as we had to ring to find that information out, perhaps recommend some eating places, activities, any other house information you think would be good for tenants to know. There was welcome food there when we arrived which came in handy. All in all it was a great holiday and I would definitely book again my whole family loved the house especially the pool!!

Unfortunately the property lacked TLC, on arrival we found poor cleaning inside and out which the cleaners came back to improve.

The outside furniture was filthy and the cleaners destroyed the cushions. Outside there was an oil leak which meant during the entire stay there was a smell inside and outside. We did inform that there was a leak at the beginning but nothing was done. The rear window was covered in dirt, cobwebs, and ivy growing across. The rear garden had a lot of weeds and covered in brambles which someone had to come and cut back. The actual property was lovely and attention to the presentation would make the world of difference.

The property has everything you could need for your stay.

Bedrooms are clean, comfortable and spacious and the lounge is lovely. We visited during a heatwave and there were plenty of fans to try and keep us cool. The outside areas could do with some general cleaning and maintenance. Be wary if taking dogs as the "enclosed" garden could easily be escaped! The pool was lovely, but again maybe needed a bit more attention to the cleaning of the poolside. The rest of the house was spotless!

Perfect in every single way.

From the moment we arrived we felt right at home. The house is beautiful and everything was thought of. Even a traditional welcome with fresh scones and cream left upon the side. The grounds are lovely , the shared garden is perfect for children or if you’re taking a furry friend! We preferred the front garden as it was a lovely sun spot. House is very clean and spacious, the pool was an amazing added extra and exceeded all the youngsters expectations with loads of pool toys to play with - not to mention it was heated! All local attractions were within 10-15 minutes and of the property and the village of Hartland. The people here are very friendly and welcoming and offer a fortune of advice about the local area and things to do and places to go. Our favourite was Clovelly! What an absolute charm. We went twice

What a great house,very spacious.

There was a lovely welcome pack of cream tea,milk,bread and a bottle of fizz.There were 4 adults and two teenagers and with two lounges,games room and the swimming pool plenty of room for everyone.It is remote so don.t try to find it in the dark!A fairly short drive puts you on the A39 so Bude, Westwood Ho?,Clovelly are easily reached.The only downside was no internet,i contacted the host on Sat and reported it but over the next few days after phone calls and msgs nothing was resolved!

As many have commented before the house has ants everywhere, no preventative equipment left in house so had to purchase our own, the rubbish outside the looks like it’s not been collected in months Tv and toasters in the overflowing bins not a great look!

Kids loved the pool for the first few days until we all got ear infections that I can only put down to the poorly maintained pool which has mould on the walls and loads of old floats etc that are not in working order again previously reported by previous tenants! Cobwebs in most rooms generally the cottage needs to be updated and all will be good after a deep clean!

Property is quite tired in places and could do with some general maintenance.

The pool steps were unsafe and need fixing, I wouldn't have wanted a child to use these. We advised on first day but no-one came to fix them during our week's visit. The whole general pool area in need of some attention with the wood rotting in some places. The bedrooms have no wardrobes in them and there are two good sized double bedrooms but two small twin rooms with tiny bathrooms. Not really suitable to push together as doubles due to head space. Not grwat fir a party of 8 adults. The beds in the twin beds are obviously for children as very soft. The bathrooms - the two downstairs were generous in size, however, the showers were terrible. You couldn't use the shower freestanding, you had to take the hose out and use on body as the water trickled out. The two upstairs, the one in the small bedroom worked really well but was noisy as had a saniflow system attached so when you used the toilet, tap or shower it could be heard downstairs. The one in the bigger room again trickled out and was a waste of space. Linen on the beds although looked clean it smelt musty. The table in the kitchen was wobbly as were the chairs. We noticed someone had commented on this in the reviews but this hadn't been fixed. The outside seating area was unusable as the table and chairs was very dirty, the cushiones need to be taken inside when not in use. The lounge was a comfortable space. We had a problem with ants in the kitchen and pool area and the heating with the radiators gurgling (loudly especially at night). Someone came straight out to look at both issues but both issues returned later in the week. To be honest we were disappointed with the cottage, it needed a good deep clean, there were big cobwebs everywhere.

The cottage was stunning.

Had everything we needed to make the perfect Christmas (just add snow) The pool however was cold to get in. Took your breath away cold Poor Gramps only braved it once all week but We assume thats because the cover was missing as someone mustve damaged it :( The cottage owner was so helpful when the heating played ( especially cos it was xmas eve) up and we loved it so much whilst we were there we booked Christmas this year

We had the best time!

Facilities were exceptional. Grandchildren loved the pool!! Couple of issues, the heat pump went in the pool on our first day but all the stops were pulled out to rectify and was completed by the Wednesday. Only a couple of degrees out and a sharp intake of breath and guts required in the interim. Another small issue was the seats in the dining area overlooking the pool. We upturned one due the screw falling out and being particularly wobbly but they were in all honesty wobbly. Very disconcerting at times. There was a couple of times someone thought they were heading for the floor. Overall though it was a fantastic property and a fantastic holiday experience for us, as a family of 6. Would definitely recommend! Super happy!!

What an Amaxing holiday home - so well thought out - we loved it it was the house that just kept giving well equipped with everything we needed and more :) the upstairs sofa was so comfy - where did you buy this ?

- we want one :) the Pool was first class - everyone enjoyed this - not just the children. kitchen had everything we needed the only thing that we struggled with was the upstairs TV - connection is not the best - luckil we were so comfy on the sofa - didnt care we will be back thanks you

Amazing cottage that’s like the tardis!

Really well thought out holiday accommodation that worked well for a toddler, teenagers and adults alike. Pool was such a great feature as we had a few rainy days.

Unfortunately the Tv in the lounge wasn’t working, there were no dustbin bags for rubbish and there was lots of dog faeces that didn’t belong to mine.

This is our second visit to the property and unfortunately we probably will not return. There were too many things just not good enough. On the plus side the pool was great and the beds were comfy but the downstairs bedrooms were freezing cold and we needed blow air heaters to warm them up

A lovely cottage, everything you needed was catered for.

Very well equipped from crockery to towels!!! Pool was a bonus and used every day after our beech visits!! Lovely touches on arrival, flowers, scones, cream jam and bubbles.. Plenty of throws and bowls for our four legged guests.

A lovely cottage if somewhat remote.

Our extended family loved our stay here and the icing on the cake was the fantastic indoor swimming pool. Beds were very comfy and well appointed, perhaps some more hanging space would be good though. Sofas were also comfortable and the dining table overlooking the pool was great.
