Within striking distance of the coast, enjoy summer day trips to the golden beaches of the North Devon coast, Woolacombe, Saunton Sands and Croyde all within a 45 min car journey, or enjoy browsing the shops or the famous Pannier Market at North Devon's main town, Barnstaple, a ten minute drive. If you enjoy real ale, jump on the train at Umberleigh, just 2 miles, for the Rail Ale Trail between Exeter and Barnstaple stopping to sample some real ales along the way. A ten minute drive from Umberleigh takes you to the historic town of Great Torrington, with independent shops, Dartington glassworks where visitors can watch in wonder at the glassblowers, and on the outskirts of town is Rosemoor a garden of national importance with forty acres to delight and inspire a wide range of visitors.
