Burham Barn

A lovely barn in a truly peaceful countryside setting.

The property was spotlessly clean, tidy, and offered ample room for us to relax. It’s in an ideal location for exploring Dartmoor, which we did every single day. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quiet and convenient base for a holiday.

Tucked away down a private lane, Burnham Barn was the perfect base for our week on Dartmoor.

Spacious, clean and extremely well-appointed throughout, it exceeded our expectations. Just a few minutes from Dousland with its amenities as well as easy access to the moor. We will be returning, for sure.

Pamela and Jonathan are very welcoming hosts,which is one reason,among many,why I return to Burham Barn as often as I am able,being a long-standing devotee of Dartmoor and its surrounds.This was my third visit in 14 months (see my August 2024 review for a full appreciation of what is on offer here) and it was as good as ever,an opinion clearly shared by other visitors to judge by their reviews. A genuine 5-star holiday experience.

An absolutely amazing place, Jeremy and Pamela were fantastic hosts and very friendly.

Burnham Barn is well situated within the park with fantastic walks within a short distance. and also good for days out around Dartmoor. We will certainly return in the future and carry on our exploring of a beautiful part of England.

Beautiful little cottage.

Bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and separate shower, laundry with washer/dryer, living room. extended living area and patio. Well furnished. Surrounded by lawns and roses. Home from home and Pamela and Jonathan are ideal hosts.

This was my second visit to this excellent property.Everything I said in my August 2024 review published on the website applies equally to this visit.I really cannot fault it in any way.Pamela and Jonathan should be proud of what they have achieved.

Exactly as it says on the tin and more.

Johnathon and Pamela made us very welcome, in their very well presented barn conversion, every little detail had been thought of. even a welcoming fruit cake awaited us. Unfortunately due to a family illness we had to leave two days early, but will certainly return again, Johnathan and Pamela even contacted us after we left, to wish our son well.

This is a delightful gem of a holiday cottage.

A wonderfully peaceful location and a well equipped cottage with ample storage for food and clothes. Ideally situated for walking on Dartmoor.

The WiFi and mobile signals are good and the Barn has two TVs as well as a DVD player and separate radio with CD player.As well as a spacious ensuite to the bedroom (comfortable King-size bed and plenty of storage space) there is a useful shower room off the entrance porch.The location is superb,with endless options for moorland walks both near at hand and further afield,and wonderfully quiet.The friendly hosts respect one's privacy but are on hand to help out and answer questions if needed.I thoroughly enjoyed my week's stay and would not hesitate to recommend this property to those seeking something a bit special.

The Barn is a lovely property, very clean, comfortable and well equipped with high quality furnishings.

The owners are friendly and helpful. Situated in a peaceful and very attractive location within a 5 minute drive of Dartmoor and 10 minute walk (albeit 5 minutes on busy road with no footpath) from decent local pub. We enjoyed very much our week at The Barn and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Wonderful cottage which met all expectations.

However, the process surrounding the booking leaves a lot to be desired. Firstly I booked via the previously used and welcoming Helpful Holidays and to my surprise Sykes then took over. We are mature adults who do not wish to be lectured on the DO & DON'T's on how to leave the property. Also the strict arrival time of 17-00 hrs and departure time of 09-00 is unsatisfactory and inconvenient. None of this reflects upon the friendly hosts.

Comfortable, clean and delightfully peaceful. Owners kind & helpful but never intrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday there and happily recommend it.

This property is the best we have ever stayed at in the UK and is worthy of a 10 star rating.

The 'cottage' was in immaculate condition and extremely well maintained and fitted out with absolutely everything you could possibly think of to make our two week stay so enjoyable. The owners are just the nicest people you could wish to meet and we were made to feel so welcome including an amazing home made cake.

This property is exceptionally well furnished and equipped.

The location is delightful, as the property is in the owner's beautiful garden, half a mile from a road, so very quiet. The owners are helpful and pleasant but not intrusively so.

Good location as 5 mins from coop in car and easy to Tavistock but secluded near moors and woods.

After establishing contact with the owners regarding key collection/access everything was absolutely faultless!

Everything you could wish for with plenty of room set us up for a relaxing stay, in a lovely area with lots of places to visit and great walks.

From arrival to departure everything was first class (weather not included).

We were hoping to spend a few days just chilling and recharging our batteries and this was easily achieved. A delicious home made cake was waiting for us and Jonathon and Pamela were very approachable and friendly without being intrusive. All in all a lovely few days and we hope to return.

The location was amazing.

The cottage was bigger than I expected, with quality fittings and equipment. The hosts (and their dogs) were most welcoming. Not only could I not fault it, but it exceeded my expectations.

Need for car essential.

The place absolutely peaceful, the little terrace great for evening sun and glass of orange juice (?). Yelverton is a really nice community with an excellent cricket ground and Heavy has a splendid olde world pub.

Large ensuite and separate shower room. Well equipped barn conversion and friendly and helpful owners who live on site. Great outdoor space, especially if you bring your dog. A 20 acre field as part of the property for your sole use which is great for exercising your dog. Very quiet and secluded barn accessed by quite narrow, long drive, but fine if you drive slowly. Would recommend and return again if visiting the area. Lots of places to visit and countless walks both on and around Dartmoor.

This is a great place to stay, really quiet although not far from main road.

Attached to owners property but the barn is private with no sense of being intruded upon. Great bed, really comfortable and huge kitchen for a 2 person stay. The location of the barn will suit all as it virtually on Dartmoor yet close enough to towns and NT properties etc should the weather be poor. We really enjoyed a relaxing week here and walked on the moor almost every day. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely splendid accommodation in a delightful part of Devon.

Our hosts were welcoming yet left us to enjoy our own privacy. The property is furnished to a high standard with everything you would possibly need to enjoy your stay. Our Collie, Meg, was welcomed too. On arrival milk was in the fridge, tea & coffee available plus a delicious homemade fruit cake. We found this a lovely location on Dartmoor but within easy travelling to both beaches and places of interest.
