“Perfect accomodation in a beautiful location”

I stayed here for a week at the beginning of August with my Wife and two teenage children (16 and 13). I stayed here for a week at the beginning of August with my Wife and two teenage children (16 and 13). The property itself was nice and modern and perfectly laid out for the four of us with a bedroom on the mezzanine level and the kids having their own room on the ground floor. The cottage had adequate space and amenities to serve as an ideal base to explore the local area and all that Dorset and the Jurassic Coast has to offer. This is one of 5 properties in a courtyard setting which was peaceful and relaxing yet enabling you to chat with those staying at the other cottages if you wish to do so. The Budmouth Cottage that we stayed in benefited from a nice private patio in the sunshine during the afternoon and evening. A BBQ was also provided which was very handy. Because of this and the large floor to ceiling window it can get very hot inside but with the doors and windows it was easy to ventilate and a fan was also provided in the main bedroom. We found the owner, Helen, to be very helpful before we arrived and I am sure that if you had any problems or requests she would very happily accommodate for you. We really did have a lovely week, helped by the amazing weather, and we were able to explore Weymouth, Bovington Tank Museum, Monkey World and Durdle Door. We would recommend all of these as places to visit. We also loved the Upwey Wishing Well and Tea Rooms which are set amongst beautiful gardens and only approximately a 20 minute walk from the cottage. The local shop is also a fairly short walk and the village of Upwey is so nice we would recommend the walk. All in all a fantastic stay and should we wish to visit Dorset again this will be the first place we would look to stay.

About the location

UPWEY

Dorchester 5 miles; Weymouth 4 miles.

The picturesque village of Upwey lies just four miles north of Weymouth, nestling beneath the Dorset Ridgeway, and takes its name from the shallow chalk stream, the River Wey, which bubbles up here from an underground spring. Upwey is well-known for its Wishing Well, where George III once sought the benefits of the natural spring water. It is now a delightful tea room, serving lunches and traditional cream teas. There are a number of footpaths leading directly from the village to miles of unspoilt countryside, and close by is the market town of Dorchester, Thomas Hardy’s ’Casterbridge’. An easy drive or bus ride takes you to the popular seaside resort of Weymouth offering visitors glorious golden sandy beaches, excellent watersports facilities and a bustling harbour. An attractive village location and an ideal place to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
