    “Arrived and greeted by owner.”

All good on that aspect. Gates were still broken so no secure garden for children or pets. No plans to get the gates repaired till the end of the year. Any children or pets could easily get on to the main road. While not a large footfall of traffic it is still a main road. The garden is looked after but the garden furniture was covered in bird muck. The front door of the cottage could do with painting and the windows cleaning. Moving onto the inside of the cottage it is comfortable but dust on ...

Moving onto the inside of the cottage it is comfortable but dust on walls especially in the bathroom, the floor at the back of tv cabinet needs cleaning, cobwebs on light fixtures and switches in kitchen grubby. Some of the pictures on sykes website are of the owners property and garden to show it was an old school. For the price we paid for a weeks stay I was disappointed. So glad that we had plenty of places nearby to visit including Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. Anybody staying here in high season with children or pets needs to be aware it is not a secure garden so won’t be able to relax.

About the location

TINCLETON

Dorchester 5 miles.

The tiny Dorset hamlet of Tincleton nestles in an attractive rural setting within the valley of the River Frome, just 5 miles east of the county town of Dorchester. The area was beloved by Thomas Hardy, who was born at Bockhampton, just 3 miles away, and often mentioned the surrounding villages, such as Puddletown (Weatherbury), in his novels. Abounding in lovely walks, the countryside is rich in wildlife, and the River Frome is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Close by you can visit Lawrence of Arabia's cottage at Clouds Hill, as well as his final resting place at Moreton. If you are looking for fun-filled activities for the whole family to enjoy, Monkey World and the Tank Museum at Bovington offer super days out. However, no trip to this area would be complete without a visit to the stunning Dorset Jurassic Coast, with scenic views from the coastal path, spectacular coves and the sandy beaches of Weymouth, all just a short drive. Tincleton is a convenient, rural base from which to explore this lovely area.

Note: restricted head height in the twin bedroom due to sloping ceiling
Note: the double eaves bedroom is open to the staircase, so children need to be supervised at all times.
Note: O2 is good but some mobile signals may be intermittent (can be checked online)
Please note: This property has a minimum stay of x3nights.
