Description

Located at the centre of the action of the traditional village of Carhampton, this charming white-washed terraced dwelling offers an ideal base for exploring the delights of Somerset and North Devon.

With three equally delightful bedrooms, the property is perfect for a group of friends or family to enjoy a holiday in a friendly community nestled between the countryside and the coast.

Hang your coats up in the hallway and come through to the back of the property where you will find the kitchen/diner, home to all the appliances you could possibly need for a week-long stay, this area of the house makes a great spot to enjoy your morning coffee at the rustic wooden breakfast bar.

Relax in the sitting room where you will find ample seating to choose from, comprising a sofa, two chairs and a chaise lounge, meaning the whole group can gather together to enjoy each other’s company.

The kitchen and sitting room tables fit together for a more formal dining arrangement, seating six comfortably.

For a spot of quiet time, take a book from the bookshelf and step into the multi-level garden offering a tranquil spot to enjoy the fresh country air, as well as making a great area to bring everyone together in the evenings whilst huddled around the fire pit for that extra bit of warmth on a summer’s evening.

When the evening draws to a close, retreat to the first floor where you will find three bright and airy bedrooms to choose from; consisting of a double with an en-suite shower room, a king-size and a double serviced by a shared shower room, you can be sure that each of these rooms is as delightful as the next, all boasting a mix of contemporary and vintage finds and luxury linens.

There is a village pub and the welcoming village shop and post office stocks all the essentials.

Exmoor rises almost from the back door of the cottage.

Put your boots on and within ten minutes you will be walking through the deer park with Dunster Castle beckoning you on.

This historic village is well worth exploring.

In the other direction, Blue Anchor beach is a two-mile walk across the fields.

If you time it well, you may see a magnificently restored steam train puff into the wonderfully nostalgic station at Blue Anchor.

Spend a day at the beach at Minehead, or travel slightly inland to explore better the wonders of Lorna Doone country; no matter how you choose to spend your holiday, 3 Elm Cottage makes a wondrous base to return to after your days of adventure.

On first impressions looked lovely , however if there is more than one car it is a steuglle as only parking at rear of property down a narrow alleyway and only room for one car no parking available to front .

Seating in front room uncomfortable. The tv in front room could do with replacing couple of channels that work only and nothing in the area to do at night . No storage or area to put clothing had to leave in suitcase

We were a bit disappointed to be honest, 2 rolls of toilet paper or 6 people, we booked for 14 days , no clean towels were offered for the second week, smelly drains , no garden umbrella because there was no shade at all in the garden ?

Then we had no gas for cooking for 2 days , so had to spend money for meals out !!! The recycle bins were full ?? Had to ask for. A clothesline ( clothes horse) So, 3 Elm Cottage needs improvement for sure Regards, Rita Peeters So

Pros : in general the cottage is lovely.

It is very well equipped and well positioned for getting out and about and we enjoyed our stay. The general cleanness is good. Cons: Just small things but we think need attention. The rubbish bin in the kitchen had not been cleaned for what looked like some time. We kept smelling fish the main buckets were clean but the part they sat in was very dirty and we had to remove it and clean it. Just outside the backdoor where the recycling containers are kept was also very dirty and needs a good clean. I have got photos if the owner would like to see. The washing line is too close to the bushes to hang anything on and needs moving. One of the toilet roll holders is very loose and the roll kept falling off. Lastly for some reason we couldn't get any of the bbc channels on the t.v. As I said these are small things but things that should be put right considering how much is charged for the week.
