“On arrival the cottage was stocked with milk and biscuits, fresh eggs and more.”

1x Fire word was provided for the fire place and clear instructions were provided for the duration of the stay. The cottage provided privacy, quiet, and a very nice and clean cottage to stay in. Which when travelling solo with a child and small dog is priceless. The welcome instantly put me at ease and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We ate out at the recommended places and were mot disappointed. This was a 10/10 stay

“The cottage was absolutely wonderful.”

It was immaculately clean and very well stocked. The provision of essential groceries on arrival was a lovely thought. The hosts could not have been more helpful. Parking was right outside the cottage and the location was excellent for visiting both North and South Devon. The dog was also made to feel welcome and having him with us made our holiday. Overall an excellent stay wish we had booked two weeks instead of one. We will definitely be returning.

“What a lovely location, just off the main B3137 to South Molton.”

Very quiet and peaceful. The holiday cottage was very clean and pleasant, the owner provided some basic essentials (bread, milk, eggs and even some treats for the dog). Very dog friendly with access to a field behind the farm house to exercise the dog each morning and evening. Highly recommended.

The welcome gifts were very much appreciated. The cottage is set in beautiful surroundings, lovely walking around the garden. The cottage is immaculate. The bed was very comfortable with lovely bedding. Great National Trust Houses and Gardens to visit. Would recommend staying here.

“We were greeted by our host at the door and shown all the important points about the cottage and presented with a welcome gift of bread,milk,eggs plus tea, coffee, and biscuits.”

The cottage was fresh and clean and well maintained to a high standard. Despite the terrible weather we've had of late the area around the property was very well maintained. There is a large field for the dogs to run around at the rear of the owners premises its Un fenced but hedgerows should prevent anything but the most determined of dogs from wondering off, South Molton is just a few miles away and offered a number of pubs and eateries, although many were only open at random dates and times as we visited early in the season (March) really enjoyed our stay and look forward to a return visit later in the year.

“What a wonderful house in a beautiful location perfect for a quiet stay but within easy reach of wonderful places to visit.”

Very friendly owner he meet use when we arrived with a wonderful loaf of bread milk fruit juice and other essentials even a bag off treats for our dog. We will be recommending this to our friends and family and hopefully will be going back soon. Thanks Ian & Jane. Ps she especially loved the open fire.

“Fabulous little cottage in a tranquil setting.”

Ideal for our 2 dogs with a large safe field next to the cottage. A very thoughtful welcome pack and dog treats plus dog blankets. Mark was very accommodating with advice and replenishment of logs. Ideal to explore N Devon and please, have a drink in the Poltimore Arms for a trip back in time

“This cottage was delightful.”

It was smaller than we thought but plenty big enough of the two of us and the dogs. We had everything we needed and the owners were on hand to help if needed. We had everything we needed for the duration of our stay. A loaf of bread, milk, some biscuits and chocolate was a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend a stay there.

We loved the accommodation, great for a couple. We recommend a simple porch would take wet muddy clothes from walks, also its good to clean dogs and leave towels etc. This would ease pressure on the living space.

“From the day we arrived to the day we left it was an all round great stay, its a lovely little cottage and they have provided all the convenience you will need from a toaster to a dish washer, the log burner made a welcome return from out adventures on Exmoor, I would happily stay here again, we have two spaniels and they loved the quite large field adjacent to the farm house, if I had anything to add it would be a stair gate would be a useful addition, as nobody wants dogs upstairs, so I had to put my cases at the bottom to stop them venturing up to the bedroom.”

It worked but a gate would have made things a little easier. All in all I'm sure I will go again, I'll bring my stair gate next time. Thanks for making the effort to make our stay great.

The area surrounding the cottage was safe for our dog to play in off lead. Plenty of gorgeous beaches with 30 minutes travel time. Great village with a market twice a week, pack your wallet. Mark and Cath the owners were the most excellent hosts I will strongly recommend this location.

“Very nice cottage, comfortable and well furnished with all amenities.”

Bed is more suitable for a couple but 2 friends used to share close quarters is fine too. Quiet situation: the bird singing in the morning and evening is a delight. The walk up and down to South Molton (3.5 km) is easy on a quiet country road with slow climbing and descending. Owners very friendly, welcoming and discreet. (2 people, May 2025)

“Lovely little cottage.”

Compact and bijou, but with everything needed. Owners were very friendly and even provided, biscuits and eggs as a really appreciated welcoming gesture. Nice to have dog walking field right next to the cottage. Good spot on the edge of Exmoor, a drive to the coast (40-50mins) but so worth it. Unparalleled coastal scenery (highest cliffs in Britain). We'll be back.

We loved the field that was available for our dog to walk around. The owners were very welcoming and left a lovely welcome package. There was also a useful guide for places of interest and places our dog would be welcome. Although the weather was wet, there was a washing machine oland tumble drier available to keep the dog towels going! We has a lovely calming break and there were places nearby to charge our electric car.

Lovely owners. One suggestion which I did mention in person would be to have a stair gate available if dogs are not to be allowed upstairs. A small note in the listing about this would also be appreciated, not every dog is a stay downstairs kinda dog!

“Lovely cottage that had everything we needed, bed was very comfortable.”

The location is perfect for a relaxing break with very well kept grounds, our dog really enjoyed his morning and evening runs around the owners adjacent field. Lots to do close by with stunning scenery, South Molton is a short drive away with a Sainsbury’s and a great little market Thursdays and Saturdays. We’d have no hesitation recommending as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

This cottage lived up to our expectations and beyond. From the excellent welcome pack to the the friendly hosts I cannot recommend this place enough. The grounds were a joy to walk well kept but allowed to grow to support wild life in some areas. The cottage was very comfortable spotlessly clean and provided everything we needed even down to treats for Hector !

Fantastic location to go out and explore North Devon as well with a local Sainsburys (open til 8 weekdays) if you needed anything else. Cath and Mark popped over initially to say hi and bye when we left, fantastic property, only problem if it was a problem was we didn’t discover the WiFi til the last night as you have to press the on button on the WiFi adaptor and hold it fir a few seconds, but games there to play if you want (don’t go the butterfly jigsaw if there fir a few days unless you are an expert)

We cycled the Tarka Trail and visited other places of interest , was so nice coming back to cosy Dove Cottage to enjoy the gardens and peaceful setting . The hosts were really lovely nothing was too much trouble and the home baked scones were delicious ! Would definitely visit again . Thankyou from Derek and Suzy

SOUTH MOLTON

Combe Martin 19 miles; Ilfracombe 24 miles; Woolacombe 25 miles.

The attractive market town of South Molton is known as The Gateway to Exmoor and is ideally placed in North Devon, boasting a range of shops, amenities and the award-winning Pannier market, that runs twice weekly. Being pleasantly situated not far from both coastal and inland beauty spots it will suit visitors of all tastes. In close proximity are forests, moors, rivers and coast, with churches and other buildings of historical significance. Residents find the quiet charm of the area attractive and visitors soon experience the sense of civic pride held by the locals. There is superb walking on the South West Coast Path and the North Devon beaches are varied and interesting. Visit the National Trust's Watersmeet Gorge, Valley of the Rocks and the funicular cliff railway. Up on Exmoor, there are various walks to suit all abilities, as well as highlights such as Tarr Steps, Landacre Bridge and the village of Withypool. Further afield, the resorts of Ilfracombe and Combe Martin are well worth a visit, and for some of the best beaches in the country, visit Woolacombe and Saunton and Croyde.
