What a wonderful experience.

So relaxing and peaceful. The Barn has all you need. Sue is a lovely woman and the perfect host. Leaves you well alone but there if needed. Perfect setting for us and our Labrador Ruby with access to the large enclosed paddock. Wonderful countryside and a nice walk into Somerton. We will be booking again....says it all really!

What a great quiet Oasis in this mad world Sue was a fantastic host plus the goodies that she left for us at the start of our holiday we would not hesitate going back

Peaceful everything we needed.

Sue was very informative nothing was too much trouble. Our only companions were 4 chickens. If you want peace quiet this is definitely for you.

A lovely slightly quirky cottage.

The beds were comfortable and all the facilities were good. The hosts who live close by are very friendly and helpful. It was our first stay but we would definitely stay again. Somerton is about a mile and a half away which is a very pretty village with a good range of shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants.

The host could not be more helpful and friendly. It's a lovely quiet location within walking distance of the nearest town. The facilities might be a bit basic for some, but it's very comfortable and perfect for dogs and their people wanting some peace and quiet.

A delightful property for two (and dog ) in beautiful Somerset.

The property and has all the amenities required and is very comfortable. The garden with feeders is a delight with so many birds to watch. The private enclosed paddock loved by our dog . The owner ,Sue is friendly and welcoming and has given careful thought to the needs of guests including providing a welcome pack . A property that is very highly recommended and to return to as far as we are concerned .

Accommodation was lovely, peaceful setting a warm welcome from Sue the host who met us and gave us a tour of the accommodation and left us some welcome goodies, everything we needed was there including kitchen equipment ,large paddock for the dog to have a run in all in all a lovely restful holiday

This is a great little property it is very quiet the hosts are very friendly and helpful,this place is well equipped and the welcome pack is great there is also a large paddock for the dogs to run around wewould highly recommend this place for peace and quiet definitely will go again

The Old Goat Barn is a lovely property with many features, including two bathrooms, a secure garden and a large paddock for walking our dog.

There is also ample car parking, and Sue gave us a very warm welcome, including basic staples and chocolates!! There is a lovely pub close by, The Quarry Inn, which does really delicious food, and a 'small plate' option. We are certainly looking forward to visiting this property again in the future.

Clean and Tidy yet, still homely and warm.

Another memorable fortnight at OGB. This is our 3rd visit to OGB because, the owner Sue, makes you feel right at home, especially if you have Woofy Hounds with you. Ideally situated, you can explore the surrounding area and, even have a day at the seaside. The price point is great, when you look at what you get, it's value for money. We are going to return to the OGB in the near future but, after 3 years, we are planning a change and looking else ware

It was my little piece of heaven after losing both my much loved sisters within 10 months of each other.

The paddock was an amazing secure space for my Bailey to run , he absolutely had the time of his life . Lots of lovely walks with him around the lanes and pub food was lovely . We will definitely be returning next year !!! Sues little welcome packs are so lovely and definitely welcome x

Used paddock on first day discovered Hogweed growing through the grass, This can cause blistering to the skin, informed owner sue lovely lady said she would look into it, but no real comeback.

Didn't use it afterwards not worth the risk to Luca the dog, disappointing because wanted to practice recall and let him run free, main reason for choosing place . Apart from that place and walks around area great

The Old Goat Barn is lovely, it’s in a very quiet yet secure countryside area.

We had a five night break in Somerset and enjoyed bird watching, walking, sightseeing and shopping as the cottage is ideally located. The paddock and courtyard garden around the cottage were also great for bird watching. We had one rainy morning and one rainy afternoon so stayed in and the cottage was very comfortable and cosy with everything that was needed. The owner was very welcoming and helpful and left us to enjoy it although available if we needed anything.

Had a lovely week there, ideal spot for a nice peaceful break but not too far away from other places to visit.

Susan was an excellent host, very helpful and friendly and would not hesitate to recommend a stay here.

Ideal cottage for two and our dog who loved the paddock.

Well equipped ,comfortable and warm which was important for our stay during a cold February. Welcoming , helpful, friendly owner who lives nearby is not at all intrusive but readily available if needed . We strongly recommend this property for stays in this beautiful county and are looking forward to a return visit later in the year .

Lovely little cottage for two .

Warm and cosy for a winter stay with all the amenities we needed. Paddock ideal for our dog and back garden a haven for birds , we enjoyed watching the daily visit by the woodpecker. Nicely situated to enjoy the lovely countryside of Somerset and its towns ,villages and historic sights. Very highly recommended.

Needed a quiet place to de-stress after a year of stress.

Old Goat Cottage exceeded our expectations. From the welcome and goodies from Sue on our arrival, the peace, tranquility, peace throughout our stay, to the bag of cooking apples Sue let me pick from her tree on our day of leaving, the whole experience was fantastic. The cottage is a great location, with 25 minutes drive from 4 national trust sites and also RNAS Yeovilton ( great visit). Just over a mile outside Sommerton, which has everything you need from chemist, chippy, co-op & bakers, but also just a 20 minute drive from fleet if you want larger stores. Fantastic owner, fantastic place. Will return to de-stress again in the future. Highly recommend.

We loved our stay at The Old Goat Barn.

It is in a wonderful setting and just so quiet . The accommodation is large with a wonderful back garden for sitting out in on a night. You also get sole use of a huge secure paddock just opposite the cottage for your dog to run around in which also has a table and chairs in it for you to sit and watch the wonderful wildlife ( lots of deer in the nearby fields at dusk and early morning) It is situated near the village of Somerton which has lovely pubs and great bell ringing on a Sunday. The Village of Street ( 10 mins away by car ) has a Clark’s Village which has every outlet of designer shop you can imagine in it and everything is at a reduced price plus it was very quite. We also went to Lyme Regis which was only a 45 min drive away and what a beautiful seaside village it is . Sue was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble and she left us a wonderful welcome pack which also included treats for our dog. The barn is very dog friendly. We will be back

Owner a very nice lady. Lovely views and quite lanes so easy for walking the dog. The dog paddock is great and secure as is the entrance to the property. Lots of info leaflets etc of things to do in the area. All in all we would highly recommend the property for a quite relaxing holiday in lovely Somerset

Brilliant stay at TOGB, Ideally situated to explore everything Somerset has to offer.

Completely relaxed, spent a lot of time outdoors, dined alfresco most days. Great for the Dog too with a huge Paddock to run around in and, if you forget your doggy treats and pooh bags, Sue has plenty. I have marked down on facilities a little but, I spoke to Sue about the showers and the fuller figure? A washing machine would be a bonus however, happy to go to the Dry Cleaners in Somerton at the end of the first week for a service wash, lovely staff and reasonable price. I have to leave a comment about Sue. Sue is a very warm and welcoming person and, is the driving force behind this hidden gem, respects your privacy however, is only a text or call away should you need her. I must say, Sue is part of the reason we return and, we have already booked for 2025.

A well-equipped, peaceful cottage with lovely outdoor furniture in a small enclosed garden, as well as a separate paddock.

Good fencing and electric gates mean dogs can roam without having to worry. Excellent kitchen equipment and everything you could possibly need for self-catering. Some lovely touches like bread, milk, dog treats, chocolates and biscuits provided. A lovely place to stay for a break.

Just what we love, peace and quiet.

This cottage is in a quiet countryside location, with no noise except birds and wildlife. Sue is a great host, there if you need her. Cottage is spotless and has all you need for a quiet relaxing holiday. We will be returning again.

We had a fabulous week.

We were met by Sue and she showed us around and then left us to our own devices. The cottage is ideally situated for discovering the best of Somerset but also perfect for a winding down as it's in a quiet, rural and very beautiful setting. The facilities were everything we could need and there are walks down little lanes direct from the cottage to walk your pooch or alternatively, there is a paddock to let your furry friends run free. The town of Somerton is 5 minutes drive down the lane or about 20 minutes walk away and is worth a look as is the lovely Langport (10 mins drive). We also really loved the seating area outside the cottage as it's so peaceful to sit and relax and watch the bird life. Altogether, a superb place to stay!

The amenities were first class and the little private seating area with the bird feeders was a lovely place to sit and gather your thoughts. Sue is a most generous and attentive host.

There was a valued welcome pack on arrival including all the basics needed until a guest could shop. Sue made herself readily available on our arrival to welcome us to the cottage. She then was available if there are any issues but gives her guests the space they may also wish. The cottage is comfortable, clean and perfectly located to visit key places of interest in Somerset and the bordering counties of Devon, Dorset and Wiltshire. The cottage is basic but clean and tidy. There is good secure parking on site. There are two single beds in a large room adjacent to the kitchen and two small toilet/shower areas. A private enclosed courtyard at the rear of the property was lovely to sit on and enjoy the evening sun. The location was rural, extremely quiet and located up a short road which joined the main roads and nearly A303. I would return to this cottage again due to the attentiveness/care of the host and its location.

Showed us around then left us to our own devices. Had a slight problem with a fuse tripping out but it was sorted very quickly. A very quiet location and one we will be very happy to rebook in the future.

This was exactly what we needed.

Simplistic but comfortable. Fantastic paddock for our pup to have a run and surrounded by beautiful country walks. The owner was very welcoming, providing some lovely treats for our stay. Whenever we visit the area we will definitely be looking to stay here again if available.

There was a bit of a problem finding the cottage,but after we found it everything was great.

We had our little Westie Benji with us and we could leave him run free in the little garden and field.We had a very relaxing holiday and would stay there again.

Ideal for dog owners with the exclusive use of a large fenced paddock in addition to the cottage garden. We very much enjoyed our stay , it had the amenities we required and will book to return.

Firstly, I booked the place in error.

Although I was trying to get through on the phone, (constantly engaged), it was 24 hours & 10 mins since the booking had been made. I won't be using this Comany again!! About the converted building, it was freezing, no substantial insulation, only oil electric radiators. Now the smell, wet dogs, to cover this there were plug in chemical air freshners, I'm allergic to both so no good to me. I stayed 2 nights out of 28 booked. I nearly got my van stuck in the deep gravel in the parking area, so beware! Also very remote, with apparently no technology for WiFi, although we had a 02 signal! It was clean, but other than that, not suitable for a winter let. The bedding was inadequate & there were no draft excluders under the doors. Definable be aware! The booking was for 24/11/23 - 22/12/23 Date of experience: 24 October 2023

Lovely goodies to start us off. We were very comfortable and Nero enjoyed the field as usual. Easy to get around to places of interest and despite the weather we managed to get around. The Lime Kiln was a good pub for our meal before leaving. We understand that Sue is making improvements based on previous feedbacks so we need to return again to see.

The owner was very considerate and understanding of my husband's needs due to his ill- health.

The cottage is well-equipped and having 2 toilet/shower rooms was great for us. It is in a very peaceful location. One of the highlights was being able to open the external door in the bedroom to enjoy watching the birds feeding on the birdfeeders a few feet away. We did feel that instead of air-fresheners in every room, what was needed was the carpet to be steam cleaned because the smell of dogs was incredibly strong in the building.

We were looking for a budget value for money property for the two of us and our dog, Bertie, and we definitely found it in the Old Goat Barn.

Sue, is defo, the hostess with mostess, so welcoming and friendly but, mainly concerned that Bertie had a good time. Sue took time to show the facilities and layout of the property, which was really useful and then left us to it for the rest of our stay however, she was only a phone call away if you needed anything. The Facilities indoors were adequate, if I had one concern, it was the shower curtains in the cubical. A glass door would have been more appropriate, as the water ran down the curtain onto the floor, the wooden shower matt stopped any slips. I also found, as a man with a fuller figure, the curtain could be quite restrictive.Everything else was absolutely fine, the secure dog paddock is an absolute triumph, the enclosed courtyard is great for eating Al Fresco and, we are looking forward to a return visit in 2024, hoping for more of the same from the lovely Sue. If you're looking for a good base to explore the southwest, then we would highly recommend this hidden gem. I could say more but I don't want to lose the booking next year!

We have stayed before and will do so again. Perfect for a couple and ideal for those with dogs . Nice enclosed rear garden with comfortable seating and the large enclosed paddock for the exclusive use of our dog is a wonderful extra bonus. Friendly and helpful owner . We received a very warm welcome from the property owner.

They were very friendly, showed us around the accommodation and extremely generous with many treats (which were much appreciated). The Barn was spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable, very well equipped and contained a very comprehensive information folder of important and local information. The setting was peaceful and surrounded by fields and meadows. The garden furniture and reclining chairs in the enclosed patio area were perfect for relaxing and enjoying the summer evenings. The location has easy accessibility by car to many visitor Attractions, Properties and Gardens, pretty towns and villages and is ideal for cycling and walking. We thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay and would recommend this holiday Barn to others.

Welcome packs were there for us and our dog and the owner was very nice, she welcomed us like old friends. If anything could be changed, a little extra cupboard space in the kitchen would have been nice. Overall everything you needed was there. Will be going back, next time for 2 weeks instead of 1.

A lovely cottage in quiet surroundings.

Lovely welcome from sue the owner, showed us around the beautiful barn, parked the car in a car port right next to front door so didn't get wet.

Great safe paddock for dog to run. Lovely welcome pack, very cosy with lots of books and nick nacks, everything you need for your stay. Great back garden to sit in and watch the birds on the feeder, hair dryer is also supplied. Very clean and tidy until we got there. Nice places to eat nearby and lots to do. There wasn't any brochures so I picked some up to leave there. No downside to this quiet cosy haven.

Arrived Friday and left Saturday.

The property was shown as having internet connection which was imperative for us because of an on going situation. The internet was worse than useless with a plug in repeater in the bedroom which we assumed should connect with the main house. The cottage is ideal for dogs and there is a very warm welcome from the owner but overall it falls far short of our expectations of Sykes cottages based on our many past bookings.

Wonderfully quiet property set in lovely countryside setting.

Paddock area and back yard of the property were great and secure for the dog. Lots of places to visit within an hour's drive. We really enjoyed our stay. Property is very charming. Remote location means that phone / TV reception can be a bit hit and miss but you don't come somewhere like this to watch telly! Recommended.

We stayed 6/3/23 for 5 days.

We have rented holiday cottages for many years and have great experience in this field. Unfortunately our arrival was marred by an awful muddy lane leading up to the property, making our car absolutely filthy and heavy with mud. Nothing the owner can do about this, but a warning in the description would have helped us. Very nice welcome, bits of biscuits, and chocs and a sliced loaf welcomed us. Our first impression of this old converted building was that all the character had been stripped out, leaving just a pleasant abode. The lighting was minimal which is fine except that the kitchen was too dark, and shadows were cast over the cooker and the sink, making it very difficult to see. The oven door is dangerous as it swings shut again once you have opened it, making it a possible safety hazard. The fridge/freezer, located in the car port, has a compartment lid which falls open every time the door is opened. That said, we did have a good stay overall, there was plenty if information at hand about the surrounding area and amenities, and the outlook over the garden and fields was lovely, with two resident ducks on the pond, and a nice little courtyard area at the back would be a good place to sit in warm weather. I’m afraid we would not return this time which is a great shame.

Sue,the owner ,has given careful consideration to the needs of her guests . Particularly well suited for dog owners with the exclusive use of a large enclosed paddock. The property is in a quiet rural location close to Somerton and well situated for exploring this lovely part of the world. We have booked another stay for later this year and a return in February next year. Very highly recommend for couples looking for a holiday in Somerset.

The Old Goat Barn did not disappointment us at all - it was perfect for us & our two small dogs as well - the enclosed courtyard was a huge asset especially when they heard gunshots & would have bolted if not in a secure area.

Very friendly owner on hand and thoughtful.

Lovely welcome gifts for us and Nero. The cottage was lovely and warm and comfortable. Nero enjoyed the field the field and we eventually found our lost red ball. It was easy to get around and we managed to visit the attractions that were still open late in the year. The Clarks Outlet centre could do with better signing from the A372 but we manged to spend time there. It was a pity we had to leave a couple of days early to make an hospital appointment. We would certainly go back again and recommend it to friends.

Despite a forecast of frequent showers, we managed to avoid most of them and had an enjoyable holiday.

A wonderful place to stay, lovely and quiet during the day with occasional sound of horses going past down the country lane.

The night time was amazing, you could hear a pin drop! The property was surrounded by lovely countryside and on the day of arrival the owner told us that the field opposite was private and our dog could run around it at any time, what a brilliant bonus. All in all a very relaxing holiday, will definitely return.

On arrival we found a personal welcome card, biscuits, chocolates, milk and bread. We really enjoyed our stay. There are plenty of National Trust properties and places to visit in easy driving distance. Highly recommend.

The Old Goat Barn was perfect for my needs in every way - facilities, location, comfort, price, informality, etc.

Not "boutique" but more homely and comfortable as a result, especially with a dog. Being next door to the owners was very reassuring as it is quite isolated - but my privacy was very much respected but I felt I could go to them for anything. A "welcome" box of biscuits was lovely - a bit of milk would have been great too, as I arrived later than planned with the bank holiday Friday afternoon traffic.

The Old Goat Barn was set in an idyllic location in the countryside.

It was quiet and secluded with no road traffic and waking up to birds singing. It was warm and cosy with plenty of natural light in all rooms. There was a nice secure pebbled court yard for our dog and this would be ideal for sitting out enjoying your breakfast on a warm sunny morning. The country lanes around the Barn were quite with a few horse riders and it is a flat walk into Somerton, which is about 1 1/2 miles away.

We have had a wonderful week at ‘The Old Goat Barn’!

The property was clean, comfortable, well-equipped & suited our needs perfectly. The holiday property was well located with breathtaking views from all sides & a range of good walks in to the village of Somerton, etc along quiet country roads, from our doorstep! This was our second stay at The Old Goat Barn for my partner and I along with Norman the dog.

We spent a pleasant week visiting such places as the Fleet Air Arm at Yeovilton and Burnham on Sea. The Cottage itself is cosy and comfy and benefits from its own small private garden. The beds are comfortable and the heating was more than adequate and easily adjusted. Our only gripe is that Wi-Fi connection kept dropping out making it difficult to book tickets online for the Fleet Air Arm, so ended up paying more. Also, though it's a minor niggle, there is no kitchen litter bin, but to be fair the main litter bin is just a few yards away in the car port. All in all this cottage was more than worth the money paid. A genuine bargain

Spotlessly clean, warm comfy lounge.

The worse mattresses ever. Felt every spring so unable to sleep. Also no welcome pack which is unusual for a Sykes holiday.

The Old Goat Barn is a very comfortable and cosy property located in a very peaceful location in the beautiful Somerset countryside.

Despite this, all the amenities you could need are nearby in the pretty town of Somerton! Susan greeted us upon our arrival and made us feel very welcome. She told us that she had put the heating on for us and indeed, when we got inside it was lovely and warm, just the job on a frosty November evening :). Inside, everything was spotlessly clean, and was well equipped. The barn is central to many places of interest in Somerset and Dorset and during our 5 night stay, we managed to visit the Christmas Market in Bridgwater, Bath, Weymouth, Glastonbury and Wells. On the day we were due to go home, I had the pleasure of speaking to Myles on the phone, he was a very sweet man, and told us we were more than welcome to come back. an offer that we will definitely take up! :)

We received a real Somerset welcome from the owners and enjoyed our stay at this delightful small home.

What's always nice is that dogs are welcome.

Lovely property to visit, so peaceful and easy to get out and about.

Everything provided and secure parking too. Myles and Sue so welcoming and the view from the barn looks out over their garden pond with resident ducks and geese. A brilliant place to rest away from the busy world. Absolute delight for us and our two small dogs to stay especially with a safe enclosed private garden.

Lovely rural location but good road links to other parts of Somerset.

The Old Goat Barn was exactly as described-perfect for a couple wanting to explore the beautiful Somerset countryside.

It was cosy and comfortable. Plenty of hot water and powerful showers.Wi-fi was good-think it has been upgraded.Sue and Myles were warm and welcoming . Available should you need them but leave you to relax and enjoy yourself. Totally dog friendly which is important to us-fully enclosed patio garden and an enclosed paddock to let doggies run in. Tranquil location but close to local amenities. Somerton and Langport are lovely places with great cafes and shops. Good dog walk at Langport along River Parrett. Lynton further afield but worth a visit. All in all a fantastic holiday . Thank you Sue and Myles

We were so happy with the lovely cottage and fenced in garden, our little dog could walk around without us worrying she would get out.

The owners were welcoming and friendly.

Relaxing break with the beautiful Midney NGS garden nearby (only open a few days a year), Lots of birds (yellowhammer, spotted woodpecker, swallows nesting in barn).

Very quiet location but easy drive to all facilities. Somerton is a small market town with plenty of pubs and cafes providing excellent food and drink. If you remember the 60s go to glastonbury for a hippy day out in the town centre, the local dress is a must see for its explosion of colour and the shops are very different to the norm.

This cottage is in a peaceful countryside setting.

Amenities are not far away by car. You’re in the middle of several tourist attractions. If you’re looking for a de-stress location this is it.

Mikes and Sue were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay very much.

Thank you. The only negative comment would be that there wasn’t a peddle bin in the kitchen, and it needs one.

It is a lovely place in a beautiful setting. The owners are nice friendly people always on hand if needed but not intrusive. We would thoroughly recommend it.

We had a great time at The Old Goat Barn.

Miles and Sue were very welcoming host, although due to the Covid19 situation we didn’t see much of them, but they were there if required. The cottage itself was clean and tidy, and had everything you would need during your stay. It has a nice little courtyard to relax in come the evening, which is secure to let the dog out on its own. Great views of the duck pond, and fields beyond. A beautiful, and peaceful part of the country, that is handily placed to visit neighbouring counties. Plentiful choice of really nice pubs that do good food nearby. Absolutely recommend, and will visit again.

our holiday was great, it started from the welcome we received from Myles & Sue.

A lovely welcome pack was left for us and also our dog. The cottage has a beautiful view and was ideally situated for our break. Easy access to places, Weymouth, Street (Clarkes Village) and local towns with lovely browsing streets. There is a quiet lane opposite the cottage for walking your dog and also the prospect of seeing deer, we did on 4 occasions. Really good holiday which fulfilled our expectations, cheers Myles & Sue.

The owners were very friendly and the welcome pack was a nice surprise.

we had a fantastic holiday the weather was also fantastic, Myles and Sue were very welcoming, the cottage was very quite and peaceful, central for us to travel to the coast, south or north of our accommodation, we took our staffy called Misty, she thoroughly enjoyed herself making friends with Myles's dogs,walks around his paddock and across the nearby fields.

What a very friendly welcome we received after a long drive, the cottage exceeded expectations very comfortable and warm, and what a lovely welcome hamper we got even including treats for the dog.

Thank you Sue and Miles for shearing with us your lovely home even the dogs geese and the ducks came to see us. We have no hesitation in recamending you, hope to come again.

Myles couldn't have been a better host we were looked after very well and had a relaxing break away in the Old Goat Barn.

I know we all rely on Wi-Fi more than we should but it stated clearly that you could get it.

Unfortunately the signal from the house to the Barn was not strong enough to get a reliable / steady connection. Having the dog with us we needed to check out places before we set off to know if we could take her in or not. it's not a big deal but it could of saved us some wasted journeys & time if we could of known before hand. Also looking up the menu / opening times for meals at the local pub and other places of interest would of been a great help. Good central location so you could go off in any direction to find places to visit.

Well located very peaceful comfortable great for dogs a long quiet lane outside the property very little traffic private and enclosed back garden.

We have been staying in cottages for over 20 years and this is one of the best the owners are on hand if needed but not intrusive. I would recommend this property without hesitation.
