“We recently stayed at Fox Den in Somerset and I can honestly say it is one of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in!”

We have booked a number of properties through Sykes over the years and unfortunately cleanliness has often been an issue elsewhere, but Fox Den absolutely knocked it out of the park. The cottage was spotlessly clean from top to bottom and clearly maintained to an incredibly high standard. It is a beautifully restored property and you can really see the care and attention that has gone into transforming it when you look through the photos showing what it used to look like. It is now a high-end luxury cottage that still keeps all of its charm. The space both inside and outside is fantastic. The rooms are all generously sized, especially the bedrooms, and it’s great that each bedroom has its own ensuite, with an additional downstairs shower room if needed. The layout works brilliantly and makes it very comfortable for everyone staying. One thing we particularly appreciated was the two separate living areas. One is perfect if you have dogs with you, while the other is a more secluded sitting room with incredibly comfortable sofas. We have stayed in many holiday cottages where the sofas are not very comfortable, but these were high-end, luxury sofas and genuinely some of the most comfortable we’ve had in a rental property. Every window seems to frame a stunning view of the surrounding countryside. The scenery is absolutely beautiful and really adds to the peaceful atmosphere of the property. The owners were also fantastic. Tim in particular was incredibly friendly and helpful, staying in contact throughout the week and making sure we had everything we needed. Nothing was ever too much trouble and that level of care really makes a difference to a stay! The only very minor thing to be aware of (and it’s more a note than a criticism) is that the property is accessed via country lanes and a track, which can feel a little tight if you’re not used to rural driving. That said, it’s exactly what gives the cottage its peaceful, secluded charm, and being tucked away like that is part of what makes it such a special place! Overall, we absolutely loved our stay. Fox Den is spacious, comfortable, beautifully presented and immaculately clean, with breathtaking views and wonderful hosts. If you are thinking about booking, I would 100% recommend securing it before someone else does!
