Owls Retreat

We had a great holiday.

The cottage was set in lovely grounds. The kitchen had everything we needed (perhaps a few bin bags would have helped us, but not really a big deal) The beds were very comfortable, the towels were very good quality. Looking out the window every morning to see the horse was especially enjoyed by my grandaughter. Location was great for us, lots do do in surrounding area. The cottage could do with a little updating but this in no way impacted on us having a fab time. Would definitely return!

Accommodation was clean, comfortable, well maintained and fully equipped with everything needed.

Helpful friendly owners on site if there should be any issues. In the hot weather we had when staying the newish addition or air conditioning was welcomed by both us and the dog as was the welcome pack. We will definitely be back thanks

Third time of visiting.

The accommodation had everything we needed. Bonus of air conditioning in the rooms. Very welcome during the summer heat. Settees are a bit hard and a bit incomfortable. Welcome basket of bread, cake, cider and milk much appreciated. Easy reach of Brean, Western-super-mare. Overall easy to recommend.

Right from arriving, it was nicest break we have had in a long time,the cottage and facilities were brilliant, situated just right for visiting all the local attractions, Cheddar, Brean,Weston-super-Mare, Bristol docks,well worth a visit, SS Great Britain,M Shed, lots of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes

We had a fantastic long weekend stay at Owls Retreat cottage with our daughter and golden retriever.

The cottage is well located near the Mendip hills and Western Supermare. The welcome pack is fantastic and the farm is an idealic place to relax and unwind. Jane the owner is lovely and looks after the cottages along with her beautiful horses. We would highly recommend and would definitely return

Our second stay at Owls Retreat & it was just as enjoyable as before.

The owners are welcoming & are completing improvements to all the cottages - air conditioning, decor etc - which is making them even more comfortable. We hope to return soon!

Very nice hosts.

Just adequate for 4 adults and 2 dogs. The photos are very complimentary!! Bedrooms excellent and beds very comfortable!! Excellent arrival pack!!

Just back from a lovely stay at Owls Retreat.

The location is perfect for visiting local areas & the two en-suite bathrooms & single storey accommodation were perfect for our party of three older adults. Small minor issues - only one teaspoon, a very tired fraying tea towel, a missing shade on the bedside light & no kitchen scissors - but these could be easily fixed. Just be aware it is on a busy country road so care is needed when exiting the parking area or when a dog is off lead. We would highly recommend & will return.

Overall a very pleasant stay in a nice setting, quiet and peaceful.

A nice welcome basket of cakes, bread and drinks. Accommodation has all you need and heating/cooling system very effective. Wifi worked well and was able to stream films on the tv. Only gripe would be the fridge in the kitchenette which failed to keep items properly cool even on max setting. Have stayed before and would stay again.

The cottage was clean ,comfortable and most essentially warm at this time of year,really enjoyed our stay and will be back again,honestly if anyone wants a relaxing break you won't regret booking this cottage,and before I forget the welcome package of cakes and fresh bread is delicious and welcoming,many thanks for a wonderful stay.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location.

Well maintained and big enough for a week’s holiday. Beds were very comfortable with both rooms having their own bathroom. I would recommend a place to stay.

Although we enjoyed our week at Owls retreat, we were disappointed to find that we felt mislead regarding the description of the cottage that had no separate garden.

The description read (Garden with lawn and furniture, communal play area available for guest use) But found it was a (communal garden) for all 4 cottages with no gate to keep safely dogs in and being nearby a road too dangerous to let them off the lead there. In saying that there was an area to the rear of the cottage that we could walk around and let dogs into when there was no horse occupy it. Just feel that this should be listed differently so people know its not a cottage with enclosed garden. On a lighter note we enjoyed the facilities in the Barn where we could play Pool, Table Tennis and table football and we enjoyed watching the horses in the riding arena from our cottage window.

Cottage nice and spacious, everything you need, bathroom a bit dated but functional, they even have a dog bowl, dog treat and dog towel waiting for you when you arrive. Nicely located, 10 minutes from the motorway, near to Weston Super Mare, Burnham on Sea and Brean and Bath and Bristol a bit farther afield. Highly recommend a stay here.

Tremendous potential.

Initial impression was very positive. However, having stayed in other dog friendly accommodation it has never smelt so doggy as Owls Retreat. The property needs decorating. The bathroom and kitchen were not clean especially inside kitchen cupboards and cooking utensils. There were ants in lounge dining area which were coming through the front door area On a positive. The beds were very comfortable, lovely towels and a very nice welcome pack The accommodation is in a perfect location for visitor area

Great cottage that suited all our needs.

The children want to come back. Very tasty cakes in the welcome basket. Games room was an added bonus.

Lovely quiet location.

Spacious and clean accommodation. Beds very comfortable but sofas could do with more padded cushions. A bit muddy for walking but would be great location once the ground has dried up. Owners were friendly without being intrusive and we loved being greeted by the sheep dog. Thank you

Yet another amazing month at the cottage.

Comfortable, clean and very welcoming. The welcome basket is a perfect start to any break. The hosts Jane and David are excellent. They are on hand should there be a problem. The extra bonus of having the horses on site was perfect and the surrounding fields ext. were great for walking the dog. I would recommend visitors to stay there. A truly peaceful place to stay. Hopefully, we will do it all again next year.

Had a lovely week at the cottage.

Beautiful spot. We were a bit chilly at night as the cottages are being updated and ours had no heaters but we snuggled in front of the fire. Oreo the sheep dog was a welcome visitor. Such a friendly boy and the kittens were gorgeous. Took my mom and dad who stayed in Carthouse. Would definitely return.

This is our second year staying at hope farm we absolutely love the location it’s very peaceful and only a 10 minute drive into Weston.

The owners are very friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. On arrival you receive a little welcome hamper this is a lovely touch. It’s great for the kids to run around and Jane their freedom with a games room and swings. We will see you next year.

Whilst the cottage was great for our needs and had everything we required and was comfortable I do feel that the kitchen area and the bathrooms could do with being updated as they looked and seemed very tired.

The location was great and central to where we wanted to visit.

Pleasantly surprised with the welcome hamper.

Impressed by the quality of the carpets, bedding, furniture, etc. Wi-Fi, new tv, all sparkling clean. Loved the situation having horses almost looking into the windows and able to see the ménage too. Our little dog soon made friends with Oreo the farm collie who knew he could not come into the open door but sat outside. The air conditioning in all rooms was a joy because we had a the September heatwave. Close to dog friendly beaches with parking on the beach.

We had an amazing stay at Owls Retreat.

The accommodation is a first class home from home. A lovely peaceful setting but within easy reach of landmarks. Jane, the owner, is really helpful. Loved looking at the horses from my bedroom window. Will definitely return and highly recommend to anyone else.

An absolutely ideal place to relax and unwind.

Perfectly situated between 2 tourist areas with lovely beaches and entertainment. The accommodation has everything you could need and is immaculately presented. Perfect for our children as the farm is so safe and has a great play area and games room. Also perfect for our dog who made friends with Oreo, the farm dog as did our 5 year old son! Lovely little touches such as a lovely hamper on arrival and miniature toiletries. We will definitely be back and had such a lovely week. Would definitely recommend. Thank you x

Absolutely loved our stay beautiful cottage everything lovely and clean would definitely love to go back and a lovely basket of goodies with the most wonderful jam in on arrival after the long journey’.

The basket of bread, jam, cakes etc. waiting in the kitchen, was a lovely surprise and much needed after my journey. The cottage was excellent, very clean and had everything you needed. I would recommend a stay here especially if you have a dog as they are made to feel just as welcome.

Had a lovely week at Owls Retreat, the cottage was beautiful and we all really enjoyed our stay.

The area is very relaxing and quiet, just what we wanted. My two daughters also loved playing in the garden with their dog, and watching the horses from their bedroom window. The owner is a lovely lady and made us feel very welcome, we also had a welcome gift basket waiting for us on arrival which was a surprise! Would definitely visit again.

Cosy bungalow.

Lovely to see the horses being trained in the menage Some cutlery had been put away in the drawer dirty, cutlery was a little inferior, not a full matching set The welcome hamper was a lovely touch Location of bungalow was good for visiting various beaches Great that the bungalow was dog friendly

We stayed at Owls Retreat at Hope Farm from 9/6/23 to 16/6/23.

On arrival there was a basket of groceries with bread,jams etc left nice surprise. The cottage was lovely & clean with containing all we needed, the 2 bedrooms were lovely & roomy, beds comfy with the addition of en-suite bathroom's. Able to get to surrounding places easy, Jane the owner was a lovely lady, was lovely watching their horses & pony being exercised each morning & evening. There was also a place to play pool, tabletennis etc & a selection of books to borrow, excellent place to stop, definitely will go back. The weather was sunny & hot. Would recommend this place for a lovely relaxing holiday.

We have just returned home after spending a month at the cottage.

We highly recommend staying at Hope Farm. The cottage was really comfortable and cosy. The hosts were amazing. We cannot fault the cottage at all. We will return at sometime, possibly next January.

Cottage much more comfortable now new owners have taken over.

Cozy and warm - beds and sofas much more comfortable. Perfect for our Christmas stay. Would be perfect in summer as a place to get away from it all but still within easy reach of attractions and beaches in the area. Thanks you for a very pleasant stay

We enjoyed our stay at Owls Retreat, the cottage is set in a quiet location and was clean, comfortable and cosy, everything was provided and the little welcome hamper was a nice touch.

There was a little mishap at the cottage prior to our arrival but we were informed in advance and the owners went above and beyond to sort it out before we got there and it didn't impact our stay at all. We don't always return somewhere but we will definitely stay here again. Can thoroughly recommend.

Had a Fab Four days at owls retreat.

The owners left us a lovely hamper which after a long drive was very appreciated. The beds are so comfy and we all slept soundly. All rooms have heating and were very effective in heating quickly. The kitchen was equipped with everything you could need and the decor was clean and homely. We had a lovely stay in beautiful surroundings would definitely recommend and would visit again. Thank you Owl Retreat for a wonderful break.

Everything was great for our weekend away.

The cottage had everything we needed. It was clean and tidy and well equipped and a lovely hamper of local food was provided. It was wonderful to know we could take our 2 dogs (not 1 like in the advert) and even a dog bowl, towel and blanket was provided. My only negative feedback would be the quilt was far to thick for this time of year and so was very hot at night but guess that’s my personal preference. Will definitely be a place we will return to!

The property was clean and comfortable and perfectly adequate for a week's holiday.

Perhaps the owners might have considered leaving a few cleaning materials in the property and extra binbag. However we enjoyed the week's stay and particularly visiting Brean beach and Brean point great for walking and views.

First time staying at Hope Farm, we stayed in Owls Retreat cottage.

It has been updated to a great standard, and very clean and tidy. We recieved a very warm welcome from the owners and their daughter on Arrival. On entering the cottage a lovely homemade hamper with Local produce welcomed us, which was a lovely surprise. The cottage was well equipped and very clean with lovely bedding and towels and little spa samples. There is a games room in the barn so great for the kids to go and use to give you a break..It's such a peaceful area and was lovely to come back to after a busy day to relax. Throughout the stay Jane was very lovely and even took our daughter to feed the horses which she loved. Would definitely go back and also recommend to others, very close to brean and weston super mare, and some lovely restaurants which are all mentioned in the welcome book. We had a lovely few days at Owls Retreat.

We chose this accommodation as we took the mother in law who is a wheelchair user and the cottage is on one level. As soon as we arrived the owner saw the wheelchair and brought a ramp over to aid access, a nice touch. We also have a dog and the large secure paddock behind the cottage was very handy to let her have a sniff around and do her business. Don't forget to pick up the poo! The farm Collie dog Oreo is so friendly, when our dog decided to have a bark and a growl at her she just turned and walked away. Such a chilled dog. All in all we had a very relaxing stay and have recommended the accommodation to friends and family.

This property states it is dog friendly but considering it’s location is on a country lane I would have hoped for somewhere that your dog can go to the toilet.

We couldn’t have our dog in the open garden as it wasn’t secure at all and the owners dog clearly didn’t like mine.

We booked a last minute break and wasn’t disappointed.

The cottage was well equipped and cosy. The owners were so friendly and welcoming, even showing our little boy the pony. It’s the perfect base for getting to Weston and burnham. We will definitely be booking again.

The phone number for the owner given on line is incorrect.

The correct one is in the information folder in the cottage. The hot water heater was not turned on when I arrived. The hot water tap in the kitchen takes a very long time to run hot so water is wasted. Some egg cups would be useful! This is a pretty, well equipped cottage in attractive surroundings.
