“We stayed in this lodge last year in July and were blown away by how lovely and luxurious it was so we decided to return again this year expecting the same amazing experience.”

.....sadly this wasn't to be. On arrival we found the gate latch having been completely snapped off so were unable to secure the gate which with 2 dogs was not a good start. There was a note in the guest book to say it had been reported but no one came to at least try to temporarily fix during our stay. The general cleanliness of the lodge was not great with dust, cobwebs etc. (I was an nhs housekeeping supervisor for many yrs). We looked for something to clean around with but no cleaning ...

There was a note in the guest book to say it had been reported but no one came to at least try to temporarily fix during our stay. The general cleanliness of the lodge was not great with dust, cobwebs etc. (I was an nhs housekeeping supervisor for many yrs). We looked for something to clean around with but no cleaning products left only washing up liquid. Alot of the furniture was looking and felt quite worn. The corner sofa was not secure and kept separating, the mattress in the main bedroom both sides are visibly sunken, some of the bedding was ripped or had marks on, main bathroom shower screen leaked so water went over the floor. We were all very disappointed as its such a lovely lodge in a great location with lovely views. It just looks and feels like it's sadly not been very well looked after and maintained. If it was brought back up to its previous high standards we would love to return but sadly won't at present due to how we found it this year. We even came home early as we weren't very comfortable.
