Lilac Cottage

The property has been recently modernised to a very high standard.

The garden is well maintained and has wonderful views out to the West. The host was very responsive to any questions. It was so nice to arrive to find locally sourced sourdough bread, butter and cheese all from the nearby area. Also all the kitchen cupboard basics were available, along with a coffee machine. It’s about a half hour walk across the fields to the edge of Wells and Waitrose. We would thoroughly recommend this property.

Lovely cottage, very peaceful location.

Garden is beautiful, well maintained and well laid out. Especially good for the dog albeit he did find a way along the wall, however once told he kept away. Woke up to cows looking in the kitchen window - the other side of the fence - got some lovely photos. Lots of tourists hot spots close by.

Super, warm cottage with comfortable furnishings and a lovely dog friendly enclosed garden.

Good walks from the door and only 5 minutes stroll into Wookey Hole, where there is a pub and friendly club. Nearest shops are in Wells, 2 miles away. Excellent WiFi. Overall it met all our expectations.

The location is beautiful and the local area is delightful. The cottage is clean and well presented.Great communications with the owner Jenny, makes for a relaxed holiday. Will be coming back !

Jenny and Peter are incredibly welcoming and were more than willing to help when we needed them.

The cottage itself is very clean and had everything we needed. The final little stretch of road to the cottage is pretty rough and bumpy but will be fine for most cars.

Lovely cottage in a brilliant location owner met us personally which was great and also gave us some local produce.

cottage was very clean and comfortable. Location is ideal for Wells and Bath both of which have some great restaurants. We will book again for the location has dark skies as such summer in the evenings sitting in the Lovely garden would be brilliant for star gazing. Throughly recommend

Wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage.

The host welcomed us gave us loads of good tips for our stay. Jenny was very friendly and helpful. The cottage has an enclosed garden which was great for our dog but there's loads of walks literally on the door step. Although a quiet secluded spot easy to access Wells and Glastonbury. The cottage is of a very high standard and well equipped. Would recommend

Lovely stay at Lilac Cottage.

We had a great time and it was such a beautiful cottage with tranquil surroundings. Very clean and well equipped. Lots to do in Wells beautiful cathedral, did a tour of Hot Fuzz location. Great shopping at Clarkes village and most shops dog friendly.

We had an excellent stay at this beautiful cottage.

The house was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The garden was a delight, enclosed for the dog, well kept and the view from the upper patio was impressive. The perfect place for a drink in the evening while watching the sunset. Very handily placed for Wells, Cheddar and pretty good for Bristol too. Would strongly recommend!

Third stay at Lilac Cottage - another relaxing stay in this lovely cottage on the outskirts of Wells.

A quiet rural location with a fully enclosed garden enjoyed thoroughly by my dog who made it very clear that he didn’t want to leave!! The accommodation provides all you need for a week away to recharge batteries. Great little car parking area (hidden by the hedging) though cars only used for trips to supermarkets in Wells and short drives to Stockhill Woods for dog walks. This is a little gem.

Lilac Cottage is in a beautiful location.

The gardens were perfect to relax in after a day exploring the region. We loved the cottage and found it to be really well supplied with all we needed to cook a meal and to take a break in the lovely sitting room.

This was one of the nicest cottages we have visited.

It was in a lovely area and had everything that we needed. The kitchen and outside garden were delightful. It was also very nice to be met by the owner and given useful information of the area. Wells is a very nice city. It is a cottagevto which we will return.

Lovely well presented cottage in a beautiful area.

The cottage was lovely, really comfortable, clean and well presented.

It is set in a fantastic location with great views and a lovely garden. There are fantastic walks on the doorstep and is well located to nearby sights and amenities. The hosts were amazing and made us feel very welcome on arrival, we will definitely be returning!

The location is great, within easy distance of Wells and Wookey.

and a range of good country walks from the door. Good security for our small dog too. We might have liked a rather larger dining table and some larger serving spoons, but that's about the only moan.

It's an absolutely beautiful well appointed little cottage with a lovely garden, no near neighbours and surrounded by beautiful countryside, yet within easy access to the City of Wells.

An outstanding cottage in a beautiful location.

Very warm and comfortable with very good facilities. The welcome local food back was much appreciated . The owners were excellent and sorted out any issues.

Idyllic & quiet - just what was needed.

With Waitrose only a mile away it was a perfect self catering week.

Amazing views and so peaceful and a warm welcome from our host. Conversion is amazing and unique design through the house. All the amenities needed for a family of 4. Beds were super comfy, bath and shower both great. Top garden was my favourite spot right through to sunset. Everything you need in Wells a short drive or walk. Wookey Hole Cave just down the road, was great for adults and kids. Loved our stay, did not want to leave!

Second visit to Lilac Cottage with a third in the planning for next year.

This is a lovely property in a beautiful rural location. Secure garden for dog owners with Stockhill Woods a short drive away. This is a place to detox from work life and recharge batteries. We had some great weather - just sitting on the lawn of an evening and listening to the silence - fantastic.

We were warmly welcomed by the owner, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the tastefully decorated and superbly equipped cottage. We will definitely book again when we are next visiting the area.

A fantastic cottage - in a beautiful location.

Cottage was extremely well equipped - everything we needed was available. Interaction with owner was extremely easy as well. Directions clear. Huge comfortable beds - we slept well and loved being woken up by the mooing of the cows in the field behind us!

What a beautiful, clean, well maintained cottage, couldn’t fault a thing.

It had everything we needed for our stay and all within a short drive to places like Wells, Glastonbury Tor and Cheddar Gorge. The garden was fully enclosed which the dog loved with the most amazing views and walks right on the doorstep. There was even a view from the bath! Had a lovely welcome pack on arrival, we thoroughly enjoyed it all. We will be visiting again next year and would certainly recommend this lovely cottage.

We had such a relaxing break at Lilac Cottage.

We were met by Peter on arrival, erything was exactly as described and more. A beautiful garden to chill and make the most of and all the facilities you could need inside the Cottage. We look forward to retuning in the near future.

Delightful cottage in quiet rural area.

A warm welcome by the owner, shown around the property and check we were happy with equipment.The pans were the only drawback as very heavy and arthritic wrists not a good match. The beds were the best we had encountered over many bookings, as good as our own! If we were physically able to walk hilly area we would have enjoyed more areas, but we still found plenty to occupy us. Might be back for the peace and quiet some time.

What a super cottage.

We were there for the second week of January, a beautiful bright, sunny & freezing cold 7 days, but inside we were warm & cosy. Everything was spotless, plenty of quality equipment & utensils in the kitchen. Only regret - we couldn't make use of the garden, so we'd live to return in warmer days. Our communications with the owners was excellent.

Just got back from a week's stay at Lilac Cottage and we had a lovely time.

The weather was horrible but the Cottage was fabulous and cosy to come back to each evening. The garden which was enclosed was enjoyed by our dog, I would however note that if you had a very small dog they might be able to slip through the gates. Could also do with some oven trays but we would definitely recommend a stay at Lilac cottage and we hope to come back next year ourselves.

The cottage would be perfect ,but for just two things.

the first being a washing up bowl for the sink.the second would be to invest in a comfy sofa.other than that we enjoyed our stay very much ,it’s a little gem in beautiful countryside…

Lilac Cottage is a lovely rural retreat.

The garden is fully enclosed, well maintained and excellent for dog owners. The property has been restored to a very good standard which made for an excellent week of relaxation with several walking routes available and a fairly short drive to Stockhill Wood (again great for dog walks).

Had a lovely week at Lilac Cottage.

Beds were comfy and there was everything we needed in the cottage for our week’s stay. We were met by Peter who showed us around the cottage. There was a lovely welcome pack for us containing milk, locally sourced bread, butter and cheddar cheese. We loved the tranquility and fab views. Plenty of lovely walks from the cottage. The only downside is that the cottage is up a hilly lane from the village which, although fine for us, it was unfortunately too much for my in laws. There’s no local shop in the village, just the pub( served nice meals) and of course the caves. You can walk to Wells in about 35-40 mins

Lilac Cottage was considerably better than we were expecting.

The house itself, gardens and it's setting are lovely. Everything was clean and beds very comfortable. Owners are very nice and available if anything goes wrong. The only issue (and it's splitting hairs really) is that we could have done with more kit for cooking in the house. - strainer, cooking trays etc. Overall, probably the nicest house we have stayed in and we would book again without hesitation. An easy 5 stars!

We had a lovely time at Lilac cottage, basically in the middle of no where, so peaceful & calm.

The hot water does run out which wasn’t stated in the listing, so I’m not too sure what would happen with a family of 4 as it ran out for a family of 2! The cleanliness could have a been to a better standard considering the price. Overall a good stay.

Lilac Cottage is a very well appointed, pretty cottage nestled on the edge of the beautiful Mendip Hills.

It was one of the most comfortable cottages we've stayed in & the 'Welcome pack' of local produce was very much appreciated, especially the fresh sourdough & local Cheddar :)

We has a wonderful stay at lilac cottage, accurately listed in all areas.

Very warm and cosy, the beds were wonderful. Lots of lovely walks from the cottage with a 360 degree view of hillside and mountains. Where else can you look out of the kitchen window to see calves and cows giving you a cheeky look. All in all a lovely place to stay. Peter met us on arrival to open the cottage up and give us a tour indicating how everything worked. Would certainly stay there again.

Amazing place Will definitely book again

This is a beautifully renovated cottage with excellent outdoor space including parking.

The views are amazing and the location on the edge of the village is lovely and quiet but still walking distance to the pub and Wookey Hole. It was well placed for visiting nearby Wells, Cheddar, Glastonbury and Bath. What would have made our stay even better: supplying little things like a kitchen roll, an extra tea towel and some baking trays to cook on. Some of the utensils need updating - the tin opener didn’t work! Also some plastic cutlery, cups and plates for guests like us with children would be a big help. There was also quite a lot of mould in the wet room and cobwebs on the ceiling lights. Expectations were high with this being rated an excellent property by Sykes. Addressing these issues would place it in that category for us.

Very comfortable cottage, great location for walks from the door and for visiting bird watching reserves.

Friendly helpful owners, generous welcome pack provided. They are aware that the cast iron cooking pans were on the heavy side and hopefully this will be fixed. Would be more than happy to stay here again.

Everything was at the highest standard.

Lots of kitchen essentials were available, also some lovely welcoming items, bread, coffee, local milk, butter and cheese. One thing could have made our stay a bit more comfortable, some control over the temperature, specially in the bedrooms. Every time we tried to lower it, it reset to 20 degrees. In the listing it said to be aware of a drop from garden to patio. It would have been helpful to mention the steps at the end of the path. They did not show up, as the lights along the path did not reach them.

Had a really nice time, would have liked a dvd player there for the evenings in, we did miss not being able to have some logs burning to get that cosy effect but the reasons were justified as the place gets too hot with it.

Owner had left some lovely items for us so thank you for that.

The kitchen is well-stocked with utensils. A beautiful peaceful location (we slept really well!) with a lovely well-maintained garden.

Beautiful cottage and gardens. Really clean. Our only user feedback is some baking trays for the oven would have been useful. We also thought an information pack would have been useful for all appliances, local walks etc. Thank you Peter for the warm welcome and the welcome pack. Very much appreciated. Lilac cottage is lovely.

Such a peaceful setting-perfect for a getaway. The cottage is very comfortable and very well equipped. The garden is beautifully planted and perfect for sitting out in the sunshine with 2 seating areas. It is secure too so our young dog loved it. There is easy access adjacent to the cottage to walks in the Mendip Hills and the delightful City of Wells is a 10 minutes drive. We will definitely be back soon.

A fabulous, warm, cosy property, magnificent location.

Peter, the owner, gave us lots of useful information, including an excellent restaurant - Goodfellows. There are excellent walks around the property and Wells was about a 40 minute walk. We can highly recommended Wells Cathedral, the guided tour is a not to be missed. The only thing missing was a freezer, separate to the fridge (we love cooking and missed the extra cold storage) So, we just ate out a little more frequently - a win win for us ladies!

A great touch with the hamper of local produce. The bed was so comfortable! Great to have a walk in shower and stand alone bath in the bedroom. Would definitely recommend.

We had a fantastic half-term week at Lilac cottage.

The cottage was lovely, there were loads of great walks on the doorstep for the dog, and the kids enjoyed wookey hole and other local attractions. The food at Wookey hole Inn was fab! We hope to come and stay again soon.
