“We really liked our stay and felt comfortable.”

We enjoyed the great view and the activities we could realise. Bathing in the river on the walk to watersmeet, walking to the valley of the rocks. The appartement was very clean, except the windows. The beds are very old and uncomfortable. The landlord treated us well and friendly.

“We really enjoyed our stay in Apt 3 at Clooneavin.”

Although probably not suitable for anyone with mobility issues due to the winding staircase and surrounding steep paths down to Lynmouth and up to Lynton, the elevated location on the hillside gives fantastic views of the coast and sea. The apartment décor and facilities, although dated, were all in excellent condition and everything spotlessly clean. The Smart TV and WiFi signal were also both excellent. As with many holiday properties the small kitchen area was only really suitable for preparing basic meals but was fine for the two of us. We are used to a firm mattress so found the double bed very soft but the view from the bedroom window more than made up for it. We had nice spring weather for our stay so didn’t require any heating and didn’t need to add any money to the meter other than the £5 provided. The friendly owner, Gillian, was an excellent host and went out of her way to make us feel very welcome and we would definitely consider returning

“We loved the location and the fabulous view of the bay.”

The proprietor was very welcoming and helpful. The kitchen could do with a few more items eg a lid for the frying pan, a colander. I do feel the accommodation is overpriced for what it is, especially as it is self-catering. £875 for 5 nights .

Lovely local shops in Lynmouth and Lynton. The property is delightful, as is the owner Mrs Davidson. It was our second stay in Apartment 3 and we will definitely be back for a third!!

“Large period sash windows overlook the impressive view over town and sea to the Welsh coastline beyond.”

You will need to feed the meter £6 a day to at least keep the chill off on 2/3 low/med setting, but will require significantly more if you want cosy or if very cold or for running hot water. We went green and switched the immersion heater off and used electric shower and boiled water for basins, so spent £34 not including the £5 already in the meter when we arrived. Probably would benefit with electric blankets as the nights can be challenging. Jim Jams and bed socks a must. In the spring or summer I imagine it would be an absolute delight to stay there with all of the sash windows open and the sound of the tumbling river from the gorge below filling the main room. The furnishings, fixtures and fittings are in keeping with the historical character of the building and the kitchen has all the basic items for self catering. it has a very quirky and eclectic shared entrance, a somewhat theatrical emporium overflowing with wonderful potted plants, prints and paintings, a piano, and carefully arranged cushions, antiques and collectibles; a creative reflection of Gill - its warm and ebullient owner who clearly loves the house where she lives and welcomes her guests.

“Very dated house, far too much crammed in the flat.”

Not convinced it was cleaned properly as per covid requirements, as there are so many pieces of furniture everywhere. Shower was very poor, and carpet in the bathroom??!. Situated up a very very steep hill,and car park very small to turn cars around. Main bed very soft, not very comfortable.

She helped us organise a visit to the vet when our dog became ill during our stay.She gave us friendly advise about where the best nearby places to eat were.The view from the sitting room and main bedroom is astounding-we could sit there for ages and just gaze out there.We absolutely loved the area and would like to return for some further exploration.Clooneavin is one of the nicest and most comfortable self catering holiday appts we have stayed in.

“The owner is so kind & thoughtful.”

The building is beautiful, & was all lit up with grand Xmas tree & all the trimmings. The flat was cosy & magnificent views of the sea & Lynmouth village. The walks are so diverse ranging from coastal, river (which is the wildest most beautiful river) & the valley of rocks with it's wild goats. Thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of this holiday & so did my dog Will most certainly be going again.

These lovely apartments and chalet are set in the pretty village of Lynmouth, next to the town of Lynton in the Exmoor National Park. With wonderful sea and village views, these apartments are ideal for couples, families and friends for a stay within this part of Devon. LYNMOUTH

Set directly on the coast at the foot of the Exmoor hills, this charming village draws visitors from near and far. Quaint Lynmouth sits between the river, shore and hills and offers small restaurants, tea rooms and inns. There are plenty of things to see and do, including a unique water-powered cliff railway with outstanding views, which links Lynmouth with neighbouring Lynton, the pretty harbour town where the fisherman’s cottages creep down towards the quay, and the distinctive Rhenish Tower sits proudly on the harbour wall. The National Trust own nearby Arlington Court and Watersmeet, a stunning riverside walk, and within the National Park boundary, the hills of Exmoor drop down to the sea where they shadow the Exmoor Heritage Coast. Romantic Porlock, home of Lorna Doone, is just 16 miles to the east, the coastal resorts of Minehead and Ilfracombe are both within 20 miles, with the hills of Exmoor dotted all around, and there are good shopping opportunities in Barnstaple, 20 miles away.
