“So we arrived to 22 two little ducks and the parking is actually quite tight behind the back of the lodge.”

Getting in and out on a daily basis was abit of a pain really. As you enter the lodge though the interior is nothing like the pictures advertised on Sykes. It's had a makeover but in my opinion not for the better. We originally booked because of the furniture and comfort, but the new furniture has no backs, is very low and very very uncomfortable. The TV is placed too far on the wall as well so bad necks all around. The towels we were given had red stains on a couple of them and were quite ...

The towels we were given had red stains on a couple of them and were quite flimsy to use and smelt like wet dog. The bathroom hot tap was scolding. Extractor fan pully was snapped off. The bathroom shower door seal had been moved as well so everytime we had a shower it leaked through and got the floor soaked (wet floors make for bad accidents). Also found the mirror in there was quite low down. Also only provided with one toilet roll, whereas other places leave 3 or 4 for the week. Found the beds in both bedrooms to be really hard and uncomfortable as well, bad back pretty much every morning after waking up. Someone in the party said they could feel crawling over them in bed and woke up to several bite marks on body. Also saw a flea jumping about on the table outside. Speaking of outside its very grubby. Cobwebs all over the furniture, couldn't use the bird feeder as it had been left so long there was grass growing out of the feeder itself. Table hadn't wiped down, still had dirty rim marks on it from a previous guest. Kitchen was OK, be warned that the gas oven takes absolutely ages to preheat and if you're cooking dinner give yourself plenty of time. Top drawer in the kitchen gets stuck as well, might need someone to have a look at that as well. No welcome package either like in the false photos that's advertised. Only some sachets of milk and coffee and a bottle of wine. Leftover coffee from the previous renters as well which in my eyes isn't very hygienic to leave laying about with the sachets of coffee either. All in all very very disappointed with our stay. There was no comfort really and I was ready to pack up our first night to go home but didn't spend much time in the lodge after this. The site itself was ok, the cafe was closed and the shop itself just caters to basic food items. Some lovely walks about though especially up Lynway into Lynton. Just be wary though hills are very steep. Also the Narpnara kitchen and cottage in pub don't seem to be open anymore which was very disappointing. I don't think we would return to this site in all honesty which is a real shame.

When on Exmoor, no visit is complete without seeing the wild roaming Exmoor ponies, they can regularly be found on Foreland past the top of the steep Countisbury Hill or on the rugged moorland over Brendon Hill.
