“We enjoyed a fantastic week at the Old Vicarage and felt at home there as soon as we arrived.”

The house is a lovely size with tons of character, high ceilings and lots of amenities. We particularly enjoyed preparing meals in the large open-plan kitchen and sitting at the big dining table to enjoy. We made use of both the woodburner in the diner/snug area, as well as the open fire in the drawing room in the evenings. We made good use of this room in the evenings for reading and playing games. All of the bedrooms were pretty and very tastefully designed, with comfortable beds and antique furniture. There was plenty of space for our two dogs both in the house and in the delightful gardens and we could image how lovely it would be to sit outside in the spring or summer there. We loved the location in the pretty village of Merriott, walking around the village and surrounding fields, as well as how close it is to another very attractive village of Hinton St George with the fabulous Lord Poulett Arms which we enjoyed visiting a couple of times for excellent meals, with our dogs. We found the nearby Crewkerne really handy for supermarkets etc. The owner was extremely friendly and kind in message communication during our stay, checking how things were and making us feel very welcome there. We definitely hope to stay at the Old Vicarage again in the future and would highly recommend it for a wonderful holiday.
