Our fourth visit to Glebe House a wonderful property in a lovely peaceful village a village hub with a shop and cafe with lovely food two pubs and a mill at the end of the road where you can get freshly baked bread a big thank you to Angela and Anthony for making our holidays so special

A lovely house with everything you could want.

A very nice pub close by and lots to see in the area.

A wonderful place to stay with everything you may need, both in the kitchen and elsewhere, even down to umbrellas and a shoe horn!

Angela and Antony are on hand to help if needed. The situation is perfect, being very quiet, with fields and lanes nearby for country walks, and three good pubs in walking distance serving very good food. The village Hub about 200 yards away serves good coffee and food as well as green groceries. The perfect stay.

Excellent spacious accommodation with everything you could possibly want.

Great value for a 3 bed, 3 bath house with a useful downstairs loo as well. It was very clean with a large well equipped kitchen. We would recommend this without hesitation.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Glebe House it is situated in a lovely village with 2 pubs and a wonderful cafe.

The house had everything you needed it was really comfortable and very clean we would definitely stay there again

We spent a wonderful Christmas and New Year at Glebe House.

The house was full of character and afforded much more space than the photos show. Very comfy. Very well equipped. The fire and the beautiful Christmas tree made for a perfect Christmas card Christmas. Loads of places to visit locally and loads to do if you choose to have a cozy day in (board games, books, TV etc). Wells, just a few minutes drive up the road, had most shops you’d ever need and is a lovely place to walk around. Angela and Anthony, who look after the property, are lovely and do a spectacular job of making sure your stay is pretty perfect. The cleanest place we’ve stayed in too! We booked up for a second stay before we left!

Yet homely and welcoming. Everything you could need has been thought of. Angela the manager is a lovely lady and keeps it all ship shape. Wookey itself is so quiet and peaceful. Parking in the courtyard is very safe and secure. The garden is beautiful although we didn't get to use it being December. We would return in a heartbeat, enjoyed our weeks stay.

The best self-catering we have ever stayed in. Amazing attention to detail and everything one could possibly need had been thought of and provided. Friendly and helpful staff as well. Congratulations to them for providing and maintaining such excellent accommodation.

It was very comfortable and the shower in the main bedroom was amazing. Great location within in easy walking distance to two Pubs. It is very close to Wells as well. Would be ideal for a family or group of friends.

An extremely well equipped comfortable cottage very high standard of cleanliness.

Literally everything that you needed on hand a real home from home! Well positioned in a quiet village with all the amenities needed like a shop and two pub’s within walking distance! We highly recommend and will return.

A fantastic place to stay.

Everything you could possibly want on holiday was supplied at Glebe House. It was immaculate, quiet, comfortable and homely but I think my grandson found it a bit spooky, but still loved it. (If I had one "niggle" it was that the duvet in the small bedroom was too small for the bed but I'm not complaining, maybe I've put on weight??) The village was quiet but the pub was welcoming with nice food(probably too much ) All in all we had a VERY enjoyable stay at Glebe House and if we go back to Somerset that will be first on my list to book!

We had a wonderful week at Glebe House, we were very lucky to meet Roger Watson, the owner and spend Sunday afternoon in his garden talking.

He was very informative. What a great guy. Glebe House is very comfortable with everything you could need set in a lovely village but only a stones throw from Wells and other towns and attractions. Angela and Anthony had prepared the house and grounds to a very high standard and were on hand to deal with any problems. Thanks to the three of you for making our holiday extra special.

Roger was a perfect host and Angela a perfect hostess.

Our third visit and we are booked for next year too. The village is friendly with two pubs that both do nice food. Close to Wells with a bus that stops in the village to take you there. You can also get the bus to the village of Wedmore so two places where you do not need to take the car. Property well maintained, exceptionally clean and steeped in history.

Absolutely superb!

Not sure what to expect when we arrived but it exceeded our expectations. A spacious property, clean and well maintained. Kitchen/diner very well equipped, comfortable lounge area, lovely bedrooms and showers. Delightful garden and outdoor seating area. Wookey village and local pubs very welcoming. Just perfect!

Glebe House is a wonderful property in which to stay.

It is very spacious and incredibly well appointed. Much thought had gone into making it comfortable; there wasn't one thing that we found missing, and many extras we weren't expecting. It was very peaceful and quiet, and the huge garden was lovely to sit in. We were welcomed on arrival, and waved on our way at the end of our stay. We have already booked for next year.

The property was lovely and clean.

Good quality bedding. The kitchen was well equipped with every utensil. The garden was beautiful. The cottage is in a good location. It's quiet at night no road noise. There are two local pubs within walking distance which offer good meals. The Hub is good for breakfast, newspapers and milk a short walk from the cottage. It's a two mile walk into Wells or there is a community bus We enjoyed our stay and Angela the Housekeeper was very helpful and friendly. She even texted us before our journey on the day. We would stay there again if we are in the area

Family bathroom exceptional. Many extras that other cottages don't have. Tv is a bit dated with no freeview for winter nights. Angela very attentive.

Our third stay at Glebe House!

The house is so warm, comfortable and well equipped, very comfy beds and great, powerful showers. The two pubs within walking distance are great, especially The Burcott Inn. The house is in a great location for exploring the area; Wells is beautiful, Clarks village is great and there are many RSPB / nature reserves within a 20 minute drive. Overall, another great stay and cannot wait to return. Thanks Angela for everything.

Love staying at Glebe House.

Our second visit and this time we stayed for two weeks. Already booked another week for next year! The property is always clean and well presented with lots of character. The village of Wookey is so friendly with two lovely pubs within a short walking distance. Angela very helpful and friendly during our stays too.

It is a lovely property ideal for exploring the area and Angela the property manager is very welcoming. Glebe House is clean, tidy and very well maintained and has everything you need for an enjoyable holiday away from home. Can't fault it!

A beautiful spotlessly clean house.

All the rooms are large and comfortable. Plenty of room for our party of 4 adults with 2 en-suite bedrooms, we wish we had the shower at home! The house is ideally situated for visiting loads of places. We went to Bath, Glastonbury, Weston-super-Mare and of course Wells. The local pub Ring o' Bells serves lovely food, but beware they are big portions. Angela and Anthony made us feel most welcome and we would not hesitate to stay in this house if we were in the area again.

Glebe House is a beautiful house full of character.

Everything you could possibly need. Angela is a lovely friendly lady and very helpful if needed. The stairs were a bit of a struggle for my semi-disabled daughter but did not spoil our stay. We would definitely return if holidaying in Somerset.

WOW!

Stunning holiday home. Everything you could possibly want there. Like being at home, but on holiday! Lovely and clean. Beds were comfy. Brilliant showers! The garden with the river at the bottom was beautiful. Angela is lovely. Location is brilliant, central to getting to lots of nearby places to visit. We highly recommend Cheddar Gorge! Again, stunning place to stay. A wonderful place to spend my birthday! A brilliant holiday. Thank you.

This was our third stay, and again we were very impressed by the level of care taken to ensure that our stay was successful.

The property is very well appointed and maintained, and the caretaker was very attentive. It was a very enjoyable, relaxing stay, and really felt like home from home.

This was excellent accommodation for our family needs (five of us); everything was clearly written in the welcome book, clean and comfortable.

The location in the village made for interesting walks and easy access into Wells.

The house was spotless and very comfortable. It had everything we needed including lots of books and games which our daughter loved. The garden is beautiful and well kept - our daughter loved playing outside after our busy days out. The stream at the bottom was also very pretty. The house is perfectly located for all of the popular tourist spots - every where we went was just a short car journey away. We would definitely stay again.

Over recent years, we have visited several cottages from a variety of cottage websites - Glebe House is outstanding - a house with character, spotlessly clean, and a very efficient and friendly lady in charge!

Glebe house is a lovely property and was immaculately clean.

There were lots of nice touches like milk in the fridge and plenty of tea bags. They also put tissues in most rooms plenty of hand wash and dishwasher tablets. There was only two of us so we didn't really do the property justice as it is plenty big enough for a family.

Glebe cottage went beyond our expectations.

Everything you needed was there. In other cottages you think ,we could'nt find some gadget etc, not at this cottage everything was thought of. The cottage was warm, very clean and certainly very spacious. All the credit for the cottage should go to Angela as all her imput has paid off for the people using the cottage. Three Bells pub in the village served excellent food. very big portions also We visited all the surrounding towns, villages, attractions none were very far to get too which was excellent. I would certainly recommend this cottage.

Fabulous house, warm and clean.

A lovely home for the week.

Lots of space and facilities. Very clean. This was our second visit and would have no hestitation about recommending to others or returning. Plenty to do in the area, Wookey Hole, Glastonbury, Bath, Longleat and Cheddar Gorge.

Property was lovely and very clean thanks to Angela.

I have mobility problems following surgery, so struggled due to all the stairs (property was booked prior to surgery). House was amazing and absolutely loved the kitchen but unfortunately due to my mobility will be unable to return.

This is by far the best cottage we have ever rented.

It is spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped. It is very comfortable. The log fire makes it nice and cosy at this time of year. Everything is labelled so you know which light switches to switch on and what rubbish to put in which bin. Angela is very helpful. The cottage is very well situated for getting around the area. We will definitely visit again.

We love coming to the cottage and we are booked to come back in March.

Angela is brilliant and she is always there if you have any concerns she always goes the extra mile making sure you are comfortable and happy.

Another superb stay at Glebe House!

! We have just returned from our 2nd visit to Glebe House and we are just as happy with this stay as we were with our 1st one. So warm, comfortable, spacious and well equipped. A great village with 2 excellent pubs within walking distance of the cottage and an overall great location to explore the wonderful city of Wells and the many RSPB / nature reserves in the area. Will definitely be returning!

Spacious, warm, extremely comfortable. Ideal holiday base for beautiful Somerset, the City of Wells, Glastonbury, Castle Cary, Frome, the list goes on! Definitely worth trying to catch the special Carnival of Lights in venues through out this lovely county.

Loved this property.

So well maintained and much bigger than it looked on the photos. The large bathroom was beautiful and the staircase was a great feature. The village is lovely, quiet and friendly with the added bonus of two nice village pubs within walking distance of the House. If you wish to leave your car and get the bus a local community bus stops beside the property and is great for visiting Wells. We enjoyed it so much we have already rebooked for next year.

This was a lovely place to stay.

It was spacious and very clean. It had brilliant facilities and was fully equipped for a family holiday. Angela the manager was absolutely fantastic and gave us loads of information. She was really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The garden was amazing and the children loved the little stream at the end of it. We paddled down there nearly every day. We enjoyed every minute of being in this wonderful cottage. There was plenty to do for the family in the local area. Wells cathedral and the bishops castle were so beautiful. We went to the local swimming pool. We had a couple of days in Glastonbury and went up the tor. We also went to the air museum about 30 min drive away. I would recommend all of these places to go. I totally recommend a stay here. It was amazing value for money. Many thanks to Angela. Hope to see you again. :)

Excellent accommodation.

Fitted out very comfortably with everything that one would need. The property is nicely decorated, homely and reflects an added measure of detail where it comes to making people feel at home.

We are a family of 5 who have recently spent 2 weeks at this lovely house.

There was loads of space for us all but yet it was comfortable and cosy. The beds were super and the showers amazing. The house was very well equipped with everything you could need. The kitchen had all kinds of utensils, crockery, cutlery, ironing board, oven gloves, vases and so much more. My daughters (14, 11 & 5) loved the garden and especially the stream and spent many hours down there playing. The location is brilliant for visiting somerset, gloucestershire, south wales and even north devon. We found lovely scenic places to go. Angela was a great host. She sorted out incidents that cropped up with haste and professionalism. She was very friendly and welcoming and looked after us very well. We would definitely return here again.

A wonderful cottage in a great location in Wookey village.

The location makes it easy to get to a range of local attractions. There is a local shop in the village that also provides coffees and food as well as a local pub.

This is our 2nd stay at Glebe House, it is a lovely spacious well equipped place to stay.

It is in a great location in a lovely quiet village but not too far from all the places we love - Wells, Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury.

It's very clean and everything you're likely to need (and more!) is provided. Lovely and quiet at night. Our group of 5 were all very comfortable and never felt squeezed for space. Highly recommend.

This was a lovely house, spacious, warm and very clean.

Well-equipped and everything worked as intended. The location is splendid, with an excellent pub only minutes' walk away that serves very good food and a couple of top-class bitters plus plus plus. they even catered for the restricted-diet needs of one of our party. Not mentioned elsewhere is that the water-mill a couple of hundred yards away supplies Fresh-Baked Bread! This was a genuine highlight of my breakfast. Overall, a wonderful place to spend a few days.

Lovely spacious property in a quiet village that had everything you thought you might need when you’re away.

Well situated for getting to places but only 5 minutes from Wells for any shopping required. Thought lots of Childrens books and games a nice touch as all children like different things from their own so these were well used by our 6 & 2 year olds.

Lovely garden too. Only light downside was smell of damp, but didn't really bother us.

Property nicer than it looks on the listing; very spacious.

Cool downstairs during a very warm week (30C every day). Also appreciated and enjoyed the shady garden with stream. Comfortable beds. Good bathrooms and plenty of them! Very helpful local lady Angela.

The only thing I did notice was the Window Sills outside the property were in need of repair, they were in a state of disrepair which needs addressed especially when there are youngsters around or elderly people, also the Paving on the Patio could also be repaired other than that the house is excellent, great place for touring, good local Pubs which were open.

Had absolutely everything in it even dishwasher tablets and washing tablets we dident use anything of our own as everything you could want we had a lovely week their would use it again if I wanted to go that way again I would recommend it to everybody as it was so nice I will be using you again as looking to go to Devon next time and will be looking for something similar to what we have just had as really lovely having on suite in their this has really spoilt us and would look for that again many thanks it was spotless and clean will use Sykes again as I only get my cottage or house from you thanking you mrs glover

The house is beautiful the photos don’t do it justice.

It is so well equipped you need to take only your clothes and yourselves !! Spotless, comfy, peaceful. Don’t bother with the two local pubs though it was like going in the Slaughtered Lamb !! Needless to say we didn’t stay for a drink. Perfectly situated for exploring the area. We visited Wookey hole, Wells, Bath, Cheddar gorge, Glastonbury, Brean down fort, Weston super mare, Longleat (this was why we came to Somerset for week), Bristols Clifton suspension bridge, the S.S. Great Britain (excellent), and Shepton Mallet prison which was brilliant.

Glebe Cottage is lovely and full of historic features but tastefully updated to include everything you require in a modern home including ensuite bathrooms.

It's very spacious and has a large garden, ideal in the summer. Its situated in a very peaceful location but within a ten minute drive of Wells. We very much enjoyed the wood burner in the lounge, very cosy in the evenings. Most locations for example Bath and Longleat are a 45 minute drive away. A great central location for your holiday and highly recommended.

It’s in a lovely location within walking distance of a cafe and pubs and close to the beautiful city of Wells.

This is a lovely old property.

It was very clean and had everything needed for our stay. The Wookey Hub is a wonderful meeting place for a coffee and it also has a small shop for all essentials. The Ring.of Bells is a good place to eat but take an appetite with you, the portions are huge. Very friendly locals and staff at the Burcott and the Hub. In Glebe House are some maps of the surrounding areas, it would be a good idea to mark the pubs and the Hub on the Wookey one. Also a bus timetable might be useful as we took the bus to Wells on market day and avoided all traffic and parking potential problems.

The local people were friendly and the village had many facilities, including 3 pubs, and a handy shop/cafe.

The cottage had plenty of facilities & details, inc umbrellas, torches & plenty of plugs for recharging electronic items. It was easy to use the TV.

This was an amazing cottage, brilliantly managed.

It was beautifully clean, was amazingly well equipped and comfortable, but still had all the character we hoped for. The garden was great for our son to run around. The location was great. Peaceful, but within easy reach of large supermarkets and all attractions. Just didn't have time to do everything we wanted...

Fantastic house, we've had caravans for years at Haven in Somerset at both of their sites, these are good but nothing compares to this house, it has loads of space, very very clean, has all the amenities and a load more, we didn't need to bring half of the items we brought.

We met Alison who is a lovely lady. If you want a house to stay in Somerset then look no further than Glebe House. The Wooky Hub is a great place to meet the locals as well as the Pubs which hare very close by. We used this house as a hub so we could visit Longleat, Wooky, Chedder and wells which are all close by.

Extremely well equipped cottage, 99.

9% of everything you could possibly need in a home from home. Plenty of space inside and out, the only issue we found overall was the availability of parking. We have a small 4x4 which was a very tight fit through the gateway of the courtyard. The space at the front of the cottage is only big enough for a small hatchback. We parked across the road instead.

This holiday home was absolutely fantastic.

The best we have stayed in. Check in and arrival was super simple, a dedicated parking space in the courtyard was lovely. The house itself is amazing, full of original features yet all the mod cons (shower in family bath is incredible!!) We took a 17, 13 and 2yo and they all loved it. From a personal point of view (as head chef and chief bottle washer!) I wanted for absolutely nothing. Anything we could possibly need was there, including cleaning supplies and washing powder. Taking home mostly clean laundry was a big bonus for us. Location is lovely too. The Wookey hub is a must. A stream to paddle in is literally across the road, lovely walks on the door step. We spent some time in Wells, did day trips to Wookey hole, Cheddar, Weston-Super-Mere and Bath. The furthest away being Bath which still only took around 35 minutes. The shared garden is beautiful, and with the addition of a bench (as suggested in a previous review) is a lovely space to sit out in. Angela was really lovely and dealt with a problem with the light switch almost instantly.

A really comfortable base to come home to, at the end of the day. The local pub, The Ring O Bells, only 10 minutes walk away, was also extremely friendly and served very good, home cooked, food.

Glebe House was situated in a a very friendly village.

The house had everything you could possibly want for a self catering holiday. It was very well kept and comfortable. Loved the bedlinen! Well positioned for travelling top other places of interest, particularly the City of Wells. Liked it so much have booked again for November.

The house and the standards are very good best.

We found the manager/Caretaker very helpful. The wifi worked well, the area has a poor mobile phone coverage. We enjoyed the stay and look forword to the next. Well done all involved

Glebe House is a real joy.

It is comfortably well furnished and equipped and is very spacious. Within 10 minutes of arriving, my wife, after her initial inspection, said, 'I love this house. Can we come again?' That just summed it up. It was as if we were at home. It is situated in a friendly village just outside Wells and is convenient for visits to attractions throughout Somerset and Wiltshire. We must not forget to mention the local manager Angela, who was very friendly and helpful during our stay and obviously takes great pride in maintaining the house and surroundings to a very high standard. We will be returning to Glebe House as soon as possible.

This was the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in many over our 51 years of marriage here and in France

What a super house really comfortable it was ideal for a exploring Somerset we were there birdwatching.

The beds were really comfy a very well equipped kitchen Angela was very welcoming. The en suites we're of a high standard. A very well set up house would happily stay there again

We had a great week despite the weather.

Angela proved very helpful during the week. We visited places we hadn't been to before and revisited others. Visit was only slightly marred by a young female "jobsworth" who decided to throw her weight about just as we were trying to pack up and leave!!

Excellent pubs in walking distance serving great food. This is the third Sykes cottage we have stayed in and they never disappoint. Warm, comfortable, clean and everything you could possibly want to make your stay special. Will definitely stay again and highly recommend.

Glebe House had so much more on the inside compared to its initial kerbside look.

We were there in November and it was very warm and comfortable with lots of books and games for dark evenings if you weren't snuggled up by the log burner watching TV or eating around the large table in the generously equipt kitchen. The beds were very good and the showers excellent.. The position, in a lovely village, but close to Wells and Tesco, is perfect.

peaceful situation and yet very convenient for the city of Wells and it's fabulous cathedral. Bristol, Bath and the coast are also easily reached as well as the many attractions of the Mendips and Somerrset. The house itself is very comfortable and everything you need is on hand. We shall be back!

Set in a lovely quiet village. Just 2 miles from Wells, It is in a central location for many of the top attractions. In the village there are 3 good public houses serving good food and beer.

Decent wi-fi, powerful showers, good kitchen and on a very quiet road. Good location, 5 mins walk from good pub (Ring of Bells) and only 5 mins drive from Wells, highly recommend.

Overall, I would say that Glebe House is an ideal holiday destination for a family, being spacious, comfortable and having 3 bathrooms as well as a downstairs loo.

The house was immaculately clean, well equipped and comfortable. Lovely soft towels, a walk-in wardrobe and en suite shower room were all appreciated. However, parking was an issue. The holiday information says there is off road parking for 2 cars. There was not. For 6 of the 7 days we had to park in front of the house on the road. This was the only space available. Other points - the house smelt musty when we arrived, especially the living area. We did not find any DVDs, although they are listed in the property information. There is a certain lack of privacy in the living room, with no net curtains on the road side of the room, and no curtains at all on the courtyard side. Despite the latter points, I would still recommend a stay at Glebe House and would say it represented good value for money. *** Owner Response*** Thank you for your feedback. We have taken your points in to account and acted accordingly. We updated the website to avoid any future misunderstandings and notified any advance bookings regarding DVD's and parking at the property. We have installed Net Curtains on both windows and have ordered a Blind for the Courtyard side, thank you for the suggestion.

Angela was very friendly and helpful. It was close to Wells where we visited the Cathedral, Milton House and enjoyed some great eating places.

It was very comfortable and clean and loved it.

Would definitely recommend it. The shower has got to be the best I've ever been in!!!!!!
