Lovely cottage in a very peaceful area.

Well presented and very comfortable bed! All the facilities you need for a stay. We visited Weymouth, Bournemouth. Lyme Regis and Gold Hill so although a bit of travelling involved it was nice to come back to a quiet cottage. Also visited the Royal Signals Museum which is interesting if you are ex military. Would recommend Oak Apple Cottage.

The little cottage was charming, compact but very cosy with tasteful decor.

Set in lovely countryside, ideal to relax and switch off. The hosts Phi and Simon lovely, welcoming and friendly. Sheep at the neighbouring farm, chickens and friendly dogs, wonderful. Surrounding area has many interesting towns and villages to visit so also great for people who need som action and activities. Highly recommended by Katherine and Gary

THE BIGGEST BED WE HAVE EVER SLEPT IN WITH BEAUTIFUL WHITE COTTON SHEETS, THE OWNERS FEE AND SIMON WERE FANTASTIC HOSTS. ALWAYS AROUND IF NEEDED. ON THIS OCCASION FOR US WE NEEDED SOME EXTRA SUPPORT AND THEY COULD NOT OF BEEN MORE KIND AND UNDERSTANDING. WOULD NOT HESITATE TO RETURN AND THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND A STAY HERE.

We loved the accommodation and the surrounding countryside, which was really good for walkers to explore.

The hosts were very friendly and helpful. It was perfect for us because we needed relaxation after a difficult year so far. We also loved the friendly dogs (and chicken!) and the garden was full of butterflies and singing birds. Magical!

We had a lovely week in Oke Apple Cottage, it was perfect for the two of us.

The bed was very comfortable. The owners, Fi & Simon were very friendly, there if needed, but not intrusive. Although we didn't bring our dog, we didn't miss out on canine company, Blossom visited once or twice a day (she is so cute) & Mabel popped in on our last day, maybe to check we were not leaving with her little sister! Highly recommend this cottage & will try to come back...

We have just had a lovely week in Oke Apple cottage, despite the weather!

It is in a lovely part of the county and is convenient for visiting coastal and inland towns. Brownsea Island ferry is about a 45 min drive and is well worth a trip for nature lovers. Cycle paths and walks are also close by. FI and Simon are wonderful hosts and happy to advise on local places of interest. All in all we would be more than happy to recommend this little gem.

What a lovely chalet/bungalow.

Peaceful, lots of birds , great view over the field to the pond. A good place to base yourselves, near woodland, walks Iron Age forts and the Jurassic Coast. Our hosts were excellent. Highly recommend.

Welcomed by the owners who left us a delicious fruit crumble . The cottage was clean and comfortable with everything we needed for a comfortable stay . We did a lot of walking around the area and looked forward to returning to the warm cottage at the end of the day to cook and relax ! Many thanks for an enjoyable stay .

The property was very peaceful and in an idyllique situation with stunning views .

The out door patio area and carefully placed bench in sunny positions were perfect for relaxing with a cup of tea or glass of wine and reading. The owner was very friendly , but not intrusive, introducing herself on the first evening and giving us lots of useful information about places to visit in the area. There was a lot to see all within 30 minutes drive. We had a very relaxing holiday and look forward to staying at the same property again as one week was just not long enough to fully appreciate and enjoy the area in comfort

The cottage was very comfortable and the surroundings were lovely.

We enjoyed sitting out on the patio watching the swallows swoop over the pond. The owners were welcoming. We felt the kitchen could have been a bit better equipped - but maybe other people don't cook as much on holiday as we do.

The view from the terrace, and the sounds of the countryside, took me back to the country inland from Rye where I grew up. Perfect.

The extra large king size bed was the most comfortable we’ve ever slept in. The attention to detail and friendly welcome from our hosts and their gorgeous dogs, along with the peaceful location and amazing weather made it this a perfect break away. We would love to return in the near future.

Lovely quiet cottage for two with great views.

Huge comfortable bed, gorgeous compact kitchen and shower room. Everything we needed was provided. The village has a lovely pub but the downside for us was food only served from Thurs-Sun. We stayed Monday-Thursday. This was a theme for many of the surrounding village pubs that food wasn’t available at the start of the week. Amazing area for country walks, such a lovely part of the country.

Absolutely first class, a wonderful property in a delightful setting, warm, comfortable, clean, and the owners, Fee and Simon are lovely, welcoming and accommodating, this is our second stay whilst our daughter attends Sea Cadet courses in Weymouth, and we very much hope to return again.

Thank you for the Apple Crumble, and for being so very helpful when our daughters course finished a day earlier than planned.

This cottage was absolutely perfect in every respect.

It was quiet, comfortable and bright, with a lovely aspect over fields on which grazed a few sheep. The bed was huge and again very comfortable. Fi was welcoming and greeted us upon our arrival with a home made apple crumble. The whole stay was just fab. We will come again.

This cottage is the bees knees as we say perfect location to tour and a perfect location to relax as the temp was so hot that was our decision as we had Lexi the dog with us and if you need help or info all you have to do is ask as the most charming couple Fee and Hubby and most understanding if our situation is ok in the future most definitely will try to book again the best nights sleep for long time you must try comfort of bed ?

Lots of room inside and quite well equipped. The owners are only in the next cottage and are very nice and didn’t keep pestering, we were left to ourselves and were safe in the knowledge that they were there if we needed them. It was a nice relaxing week in a great setting and the weather was really kind to us, thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely book Oke Apple Cottage again in the future when visiting Dorset. The owners are next door, on hand if needed, very friendly, but don't interfere at all. The owners dogs are a delight..Cannot fault anything. Great base for exploring. Lots to do. We will certainly be returning.

A very comfortable and cosy holiday cottage with everything provided for a relaxing break.

Situated just outside the pretty village in a lovely, quiet and rural location. Step outside the cottage and the only sounds you will hear are birds singing - idyllic! Amazing views during daylight hours, dark skies at night for all star gazers! A great central location for visiting lots of delightful places in Dorset and the surrounding counties. The only problem is, a week is just not long enough here!

A lovely cottage for exploring Dorset, great for a short break.

It was warm, clean and comfortable with lovely views and the owners and their dogs were friendly and welcoming.

This is a lovely cottage in a quiet location with lovely grounds.

Wake up to the sound of a woodpecker, robin and goldfinches to name a few. The large enclosed garden is mainly set to lawn and ideal for our cockapoo puppy who when we got home missed the freedom of not being on a lead. The owners Fee & Simon were very friendly and helpful and even offered us the use of the electric car charger. They have dogs of their own and left us a towel, poo bags and dog bowl to use. The village itself has a selection of pubs and a post office village stores. We used our drone in the garden and have sent the owners some lovely photos of their cottage and house. We would recommend this for a couple who like peace and quiet. A car is essential as it is a bit remote but we enjoyed this. We travelled to RSPB Arne, Weymouth, Nat Trust Kingston Lacey, Pallington Lakes (worth a visit) Blandfold Forum, Ferndown, Lulworth & Wareham so there are plenty of places to visit within 50 mile radius. Our thanks to Fee & Simon who helped make our stay perfect.

Beautiful accommodation- lovely grounds and so relaxing.

Simon and Fee made us extremely welcome and were available if needed but were not at all intrusive. We all had a fantastic break, even Pate (our dog) he made great friends with the owners dog and was made as welcome as we were, thank you so much for such an enjoyable few days

Absolute gem, super little cottage, very comfortable, beautiful location situated in the owners grounds, has everything you need for an enjoyable stay, we were able to let our little Yorkshire terrier outside happily.

We only stayed 5 nights, however it exceeded our expectations and would love to have stayed longer and hope to return.

This is a lovely property for 1-2 people.

Comfortable and light, with wonderful views, and little or no traffic noise. Simon and Fee are the perfect hosts - helpful and friendly, but not intrusive. Towns like Blandford Forum and Sherborne are close by, and the sea isn't that far away either! I came for a short break to destress and "take a breath", and this is the perfect place. I will certainly be back! Highly recommended

Absolutely idyllic.

Set on a slight rise close to Okeford Fitzpaine, Oak Apple Cottage is surrounded by glorious countryside, ideal for walking and exploring. The cottage is spacious and comfortable with open plan living, dining and dining. We were made to feel very welcome by Fee and Simon and their 3 canine companions who occasionally came to check that Rufus, our dog, was behaving himself. Having the use of the natural swimming pond was an absolute treat and a wonderful way to start the day. We will definitely be returning.

The cottage was spotless, cosy and Fee was very welcoming and keen for us to feel at home. There were poo bags and dog towels for our dog. Nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was situated in very lovely rural surroundings and we look forward to visiting again.

Staying in Oke Apple cottage was delightful.

We really enjoyed our week there. After a day out and about it was very relaxing to come back to. It was very well equipped and comfortable. The view from the patio down to the pond was idyllic. The only thing I think I need to mention is the small fridge but that is only because I got carried away in the M&S food hall and had difficulty getting all our goodies in. We also realised that food supplies were close at hand and hadn't needed to stock up. We would definitely stay at the cottage again.

The cottage is well equipped and very clean and in a very good decorative order.

The instructions as to the location were very good.For a short break in a very quiet location, I can thoroughly recommend a stay.For us the drive to the coast (Abbotsbury) was a little lengthy.We visited Stourhead for the second time .Shaftesbury is also very worth a visit.

The owners were charming, the cottage was very comfortable and the land scape was beautiful with magnificent trees and bushes full of birds and butterflies. The donkeys were very friendly, we loved it all.

The property has a wild swimming pond in the garden which on hot days is ideal. The owners were always on hand but not intrusive, making our short-stay, stress-free and enjoyable. There are nearby local facilities within walking distance so, all in all, I would thoroughly recommend anyone wanting some perfect rest and relaxation!

The cottage is an absolute perfect place for a mini or long break …. Wonderful surroundings, lovely hosts, human & non-human (!) & gorgeous location. Best cottage we have had.

Lovely surroundings and cottage. Owners friendly and available but left us to our own devices. Which we appreciated. We were disappointed to have to leave early for a family bereavement. Would not hesitate to recommend this place to others looking for a relaxing country escape.

The cottage and location were both lovely.

The only things we felt could be improved is a handrail in the shower room as being registered disable the thought of slipping prevented me from having a shower without the worry of slipping over. Also we found on arrival that the drinking cups were dirty which we highlighted to the hosts. Although the male host was friendly and welcoming the lady host never enquired on my wife’s welfare and made no attempt to ask on her welfare during our stay. This we found most unusual.

Cosy for 2 and one furry family member. Excellent home from home facilities. Lovely to have the friendly owner on site, should we required anything. As we were mobility impaired guests, some of the facilities and accessibilities needed a few adaptations. These were easily achieved and the owner was extremely helpful. The big plus was the peaceful surroundings which were only enhanced by the views. Just perfect for a relaxing break away from the busy rat race of everyday life. Perfect! "Oh, and we just fell in love with Blossom, the friendly little terrier that popped in from time to time to check that we were having a good time" :)

Great cottage, just what we required.

Friendly hosts, what more could you want.

This is a beautiful setting for a holiday cottage, in the grounds of a large thatched period farmhouse with rambling roses everywhere.

The holiday was perfect for us and, although compact, everything is well laid out and in very good condition. The views of the countryside, picturesque redeed lily pond and the donkeys were a pleasure to look out on. All this, plus very helpful, thoughtful and friendly owners. We will book again for next August as soon as we have dates for the piano course I was attending at Bryanston School.

Stayed Monday-Friday on arrival we were shown around the accommodation which was very clean and tidy .

It is very peaceful and pleasant surroundings would recommend if you want a quiet relaxing getaway. Had a lovely relaxing time, enjoyed feeding the 2 donkeys and would definitely stay again.

Loved the position on the edge of this small village,hospitality was 1st class,2 towns close by with historical connections,and within easy driving distance of Dorset coast,would love to visit again

We had everything that we needed. The holiday was so relaxing & peaceful and being able to say HELLO to the donkeys was a pleasure. We would love to come again in the near future.

The accommodation was delightful and suited our needs perfectly.

In fact the description and picture of the cottage did not do it justice. Our hosts were welcoming and helpful. It was an ideal position from which to explore a beautiful part of Dorset and see places we had not previously visited - although the road signage often left much to be desired! We would love to return there.

From the outside the cottage looks the same as the website images; that’s as far as it goes.

The whole property smells damp. The furniture or bed are not as pictured, it is extremely tired, musty and uncomfortable. The owners live next door and frequently walk between their house and their garage passing by the cottage, this is exasperated by the fact there are no voiles or nets at the Windows, even in the bedroom and bathroom, so you have very little privacy. The owners dogs roam at will and you are greeted by a sign saying they will “visit” you in the cottage. We came home after just one night as it was so bad and have asked for a refund. Sykes have yet to address this

The setting of Oke Apple Cottage was idyllic.

The countryside was beautiful and we were able to visit many lovely Dorset attractions from our base in Okeford Fitzpaine. A thoroughly relaxing fortnight.

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived.

It is a pretty cottage, with roses around the property, and the bedroom particularly has been updated. It is peaceful and in a beautiful setting. The owners were very pleasant, greeted us on arrival and departure. The photographs do not do this property justice. It is an ideal getaway.

This was our third visit to this cottage - absolutely perfect for any couple desiring complete peace and quiet in the country at any time of year.

The owners were extremely helpful and attentive - always available to help and asking whether we had any additional requirements. This was our 2nd visit to Okeapple Cottage in Dorset - No doubt we will return again !

! It meets ALL expectations and more. Perfectly maintained and fitted out, everything one could possibly want. Ideal situation . No inquisitive humans, only dogs, donkeys and squirrels...Any problems that may arise (highly unlikely) will be sorted out in an instant by the proprietor who only lives a stone's throw away. Heating works perfectly in cold weather, excellent WiFi/internet connections...what more could anyone ask.

This is a well equipped cottage in a good location.

It is quiet and in the countryside which is what I wanted. I had a lovely week visiting National Trust property and the coast and the cottage was a pleasure to come back to each evening.

We enjoyed our holiday and the location of this property, Fi the owner was very welcoming, we enjoyed watching the donkeys in the fields adjoining the property and would have to say that the bed was the most comfortable we have slept in a holiday rental.

We did however have one negative with reference to taking our dog which was partly our fault for not reading the full terms and conditions, reading clause 7a after receiving the full information when we had paid in full we realised that we were not allowed to leave our dog in the property alone at any time, after realising this we decided against taking our dog as it would have been to restrictive as we like to eat out and this would have prevented this, I feel that this particular restriction should be highlighted on the page that states pets welcome for example with a note “see clause 7a” This would put me off using Sykes Cottages again unfortunately.

We spent ten days at Oake Apple Cottage and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Ideally situated for touring around the area and only half an hour by road to the coast - Bournemouth and Poole. The cottage was spotlessly clean throughout - and Fee (as the owner) couldn't have been more friendly, helpful and efficient in ensuring we had everything we needed. We have NO hesitation in giving this property a five star rating - and we will have NO hesitation in booking again. Absolutely superb. Peaceful - quiet and beautifully sited on the outskirts of a small Dorset village. A BIG thank you to Fee - the property is a credit to you !!!

We had a wonderful two week stay at Oke Apple Cottage.

The cottage was very comfortable and beautifully decorated with stunning views of the surrounding hills, countryside and the swimming pond. It was the perfect break for two 30 something city workers who needed some rest and relaxation. Our dog, a greyhound, also loved his stay, it is a very dog-friendly property. Not only was there lots of space outside for him but next door were two large fields where he could run for ages. We had fresh eggs which were delicious and loved the village shop which is a ten minute walk away. Near by are many pubs, restaurants and of course Dorset’s beautiful beaches. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage as a perfect and peaceful place to stay.

too highly - ten out of ten is too low..it certainly exceeds 100%. We have had many previous country and seaside cottage holidays but this was far and away the best we have ever experienced. ( Once we had found the venue of course ! Road works even defied the SatNav...) The setting was so peaceful and everything about the cottage was perfect....ideal for two old folks like us or possibly for two honeymooners looking to get away from it all.!! This comfortable cottage is set in lovely Dorset scenery and is in 5 minutes drive of Okeford Fitzpaine village shop for daily papers and groceries.

The Royal Oak pub there does lunches. To be picky we missed a toast rack, also a towel rail by the sink in the bathroom would be nice.

Absolutely no Sirens , no Motor Bike roar, no traffic noise at all .

Peace at last. Starry nights ,Bird song all day ,even heard a Cuckoo, the owners who live nearby,available if required, scenery worth looking at all day. Tips . Ensure that you take a Tin Opener , Tea Strainer if you like proper tea. Essentials such as Bread, Milk ,and your preferred breakfast bevs', and a Map of Dorset if you haven't got Satnav.

Beautiful setting, got the peace and quiet I needed. Very cosy cottage with everything there, including a bowl and towel for my dog. Couldn't have asked for more. Will certainly be visiting again.

the owners were very helpful and made us very welcome. We were perfectly placed for exploring the Dorset coast and the swimming pond was fab. A beautiful place.

The hosts were very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this for couples of ant age., it’s even dog friendly.

Oke Apple Cottage was one of the best we have stayed in.

The welcome by owners (plus dogs) was very informative about the cottage and the local area. The cottage had all the facilities we required for a very enjoyable week. Would recommend to friends and family who would like to stay in a first class cottage.

Great quiet location and comfortable place to stay.

Our dog found some friends in the garden and an ideal location for visiting villages etc.

Super cottage in tranquil surroundings.

A real retreat in a beautiful part of the world should you want to escape or explore. We could have happily based ourselves here and walked in a different direction every day. So comfortable with lovely soft furnishings but practical too if you have a dog. Kitchen well equipped. Super shower. Nothing too much trouble from hosts. We will be returning very soon. Thank you.

what a lovely place to stay, when you look out of the window, you see ducks on the pond, and 2 donkeys, walking around, all in a beautiful setting.

The cottage was set in a very quiet location with beautiful surroundings close enough to local amenities village shop and post office.

Blandford Forum town was not far away 10 minute drive worth a visit. Overall it was a very pleasant holiday will certainly like to stay there again.

Cottage was well equipped, clean and an ideal quiet location.

Only slight disappointment was that Wi-Fi was ineffective. However in some ways this added to the tranquillity and remoteness of the holiday.

This was an exceptional cottage, with everything we could possible want, and so spacious.

Quiet location and attractive setting.

The property is in a quiet, peaceful location, yet only around 25 miles from Bournemouth thus making access to attractions fairly easy.

Mr. and Mrs.Allen made us very welcome and we appreciated the quietness of the property in the evening, after completing our explorations of the surrounding countryside.
