Description

Bickleigh 1 mile.

Figtree cottage is situated on the steep slopes overlooking the stunning Exe valley in Mid Devon.

A wooden construction by Swedish experts, this detached Devon cottage sits on the site of an old sheep shearing shed.

The cottage is in a peaceful rural location, a mile from the noted beauty spot of Bickleigh.

Local wildlife can often be seen in the area such as deer, hawks and buzzard, plus sheep and cattle in the fields next door to the cottage. On the grounds of the owners' house, Fig tree cottage has its own private driveway, with far-reaching, stunning, countryside views and spacious rooms, ideal for a family looking to enjoy a cottage holiday in Devon.

There is a sitting room with lovely oak floor, warming wood-burning stove and large TV with surround sound.

The kitchen/dining room is a bright, sunny room overlooking the picturesque garden.

In this Devon cottage, there are also four large, beautifully furnished bedrooms, one en-suite, with two further bathrooms situated over the ground and first floors, for convenience.

The large, private garden at your Devon cottage is a perfect place to enjoy the panoramic views on a summer's day.

The garden is west-facing and during the summer months the sunsets are breath-taking.

Even in peak summertime this part of Mid Devon is tranquil and quiet.

A walk up the lane reveals a different, but equally stunning, view from every gateway.

Just one mile down the lane from the cottage, is Bickleigh Mill, a historic water mill, café and gift shop, where you can spend the day dining alfresco by the River Exe.

The cottage is situated within easy driving distance of both Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks.

Visit one of the many National Trust houses in the area surrounding your Devon cottage, or visit the small market town of Tiverton nearby.

Explore the historic city of Exeter with its impressive cathedral, excellent shopping malls, galleries, bars and restaurants.

The cottage is midway between Devon’s north and south coastlines, convenient for a day out to either.

A stay at this well-appointed Bickleigh cottage will certainly be a Devon family holiday to remember.

We had a fabulous time at Fig Tree Cottage and the gardens and views were beautiful, especially the lavender at the front of the property and the hot tub!

Dave and Ali were great hosts and the cream tea was a lovely touch on arrival. Thank you so much for a great week, we will be back one day!

A lovely rural cottage situated nicely for getting to the north and south coasts of Devon (and Exmoor too).

It was a very hot week but even so a great holiday in a well equipped cottage with a big garden. Ground floor bedrooms are useful for anyone who may struggle with stairs as well. The cream tea and a loaf of bread was a lovely welcome gift from Ali & Dave.

Ali and Dave are excellent hosts with a lovely property.

The information provided before arrival is informative, useful and easy to understand. The welcome pack on arrival is great covering all the essentials for your first night. The information throughout the property answers any questions you might have. The location is excellent with opportunity to travel to North or South Devon easily. Local amenities are good with plenty of shops in nearby Tiverton, the local pub has excellent food and well worth a visit. Overall an excellent holiday for me and my family - thank you.
