Lovely cottage & views are amazing especially from upstairs!

! Great position in the village for getting to everywhere ( steep steps down to village older people need to be careful) Great modern shower in bathroom ( would have liked a ledge to put shampoo etc!) Very helpful directions to the property from Juliet without them it would have been quite difficult. Lots to do in the area a must is the Steam Railway. Would thoroughly recommend Harbour View.

Harbour View is a lovely, comfortable and well equipped holiday cottage.

It is tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and maintained to a very high standard. It is in an ideal location so close to the harbour and shops of Watchet as well as the heritage steam railway. There are wonderful views of the amazing sunsets over the sea. We enjoyed visiting Dunster Castle, Minehead and Lynmouth. This was our second holiday at Harbour View and we will certainly return. Thank you very much.

Excellent position in Watchet. Only a short walk to the town centre, steam railway and bus stop.

Ideally situated, short walk to amenities, lovely view over harbour and heritage train spotting at end of garden. Great to have parking with cottage. We had a lovely, relaxing break, thank you.

Warm, cosy cottage.

Very well equipped. Beds extremely comfortable. Great shower. We love this area and have visited Watchet several times. This is the nicest property we have stayed in to date. Views of the harbour and steam trains were fabulous. Plenty of shops, eateries etc. within easy walking distance. Safe off road parking a real bonus. We will be back!

The accommodation was superb.

Modern, but still kept the character of a Coastguard cottage. Very good location overlooking the Marina. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very kind, very misty and drizzly. "Mr Crispy" Fish and Chips great. The best fish I have had in a long while super crispy batter!!

We had an excellent stay at the cottage.

The location was a particular bonus as it is just a short easy walk to the harbour. Our only complaint is that a couple of the light switches worked intermittently. The accommodation would benefit from the addition of a hairdyer and some board games and dvds for inclement weather.

It was a lovely place to stay, clean, comfy and welcoming, they even put a Xmas tree up for me!

Beautiful views to harbour. The owners have thought of every thing you may need. Nice to have a parking space, and easy (a few steep steps) walking into watchet town from cottage, 5mins max. The steam train passes by certain times of the year, very nostalgic. What’s not to like!!! We would highly recommend 10/10.

A very comfortable cottage with lovely views.

Extremely well placed for shops, cafes and restaurants in Watchet. Lots of interesting walks and places to visit nearby. Enjoyed seeing and hearing the occasional steam train - a few times a day - from the cottage. The train ride and restored stations are a great experience.

Harbour View is a really comfortable cottage.

Carefully renovated and improved it offered luxurious accommodation for the 2 of us. The main king-sized bed is very comfortable and the room size is great. The shower is spacious and lovely to use. In the living area this property had the best options for lighting we have ever had in a holiday cottage. Most of the ceiling/wall lights have dimmer switches so you can comfortably use them without feeling you are on a floodlit sports pitch. It's part of the attention to detail that makes Harbour View a cut above other holiday cottages. We could happily live there, which is not something you can say about every holiday cottage. The arrival instructions from the very helpful owner were spot on and we had no difficulty finding the property. If you are a steam railway fan, you aren't likely to stay closer to a station than this. Walk out the door towards the harbour, turn left down the path and steps and you are at the end of the platform. Superb.

Lovely place didn't won't to leave.

The cottage is very comfortable and well maintained.

It is secluded while being just minutes from the station or the quay. This was our second visit and I am sure it will not be our last.

Modern and comfortable and with everything you need for a self-catering holiday. I would say this is the best cottage we have stayed in with Sykes - well done! We will definitely be back!

We found the home easily thanks to very clear visual instructions from the owner.

We had everything we needed in this comfortable, clean, well equipped cottage. There is a lovely view towards the harbour which is just a very short distance away - 1 min to the West Somerset Railway, and more importantly 2 mins to an ice cream. A perfect place for a relaxing break.

First class accommodation.

Everything clean and in good condition. I have one suggestion, a soap dish in the shower, this is not a criticism just a suggestion! regards Brian Payne

The cottage is lovely, spacious and spotlessly clean.

Excellent shower room and very comfortable beds. We love Watchet and were lucky to have nice weather. The view from the cottage is brilliant and we saw some amazing sunsets. We shall be having a holiday in Watchet again and would definitely stay at Harbour View.

We loved staying at Harbour View Cottage.

It’s in a perfect location, very quiet but within a few minutes’ walk of the shops and all that Watchet has to offer. It was spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and decorated as well as being extremely well equipped. We especially enjoyed being so close to the Steam Railway. The sunsets were amazing every evening. We highly recommend this cottage and we’ve already booked to return next year. Thank you so much.

Harbour View Cottage is delightful, very quiet with no passing traffic and very well equipped inside.

It is in an ideal spot with easy access to the town and harbour and good views over to the Welsh coast. A great place for artists (and a visit to the handmade paper workshop of Two Rivers Paper in the Arts Centre on East Quay). JMW Turner is reputed to have painted from a hill close by. Especially useful were the very detailed directions and annotated photographs the owner e-mailed a week before to assist finding the cottage first time. We can recommend wholeheartedly.

Hi it was great.

A wonderful place that is clearly loved, thoughtfully presented and in great condition. The reason I wouldn't recommend Sykes is the requirement to clean at the end of the stay, combined with relatively early check out time and late check in time. I apologise to the owner that we just didn't have the physical ability to clean after packing up, although we did strip beds, empty the fire and bins, and wipe countries. It is in the T and Cs to clean but a long way down after legal definitions, as it is an unusual requirement of holiday lets these days it should be more obvious on booking.

Warm, comfortable, lovely view of the harbour.

Everything worked and was as described. Nice to be able to be in the centre of the town within a few minutes walk. Central for most of North Somersets attractions.

This is a lovely property, warm and comfortable and in a great situation overlooking the marina and the West Somerset Railway line.

In tw minutes you can be in the town or at the bus stop or the train station. What more could you want ?

We have had almost 100 cottage holidays over many years, and consider Harbour View Cottage is one of the handful of best, in every way, places we haves stayed. We hope to be able to return.

We were extremely comfortable at Harbour View Cottage which had everything we needed and hoped for.

We loved the decor and the location of the property. We do try to explore the immediate surroundings and it was lovely to do that and pop into the deli to buy lunch to eat at the cottage before venturing out again in the afternoon. We only had three nights there and could quite easily have enjoyed a longer stay!

What a charming cottage with wonderful views of the harbour,it's been renovated to a very high standard with comfy beds and a large walk in shower and new Kitchen if you need it.

Great cottage with harbour and sea views.

The property has been recently renovated and has been well done. It is well equipped and usefully has a downstairs toilet and washbasin and this room also houses the washing machine. It is worth noting that the fridge is on the small size and there is only a tiny freezer compartment - which is big enough to make ice cubes but not for storing frozen food. The bed linen and towels are of an excellent quality. There is a king size bed in one bedroom and a standard double in the other. The mattresses on both are a little soft for us but this is a matter of preference - it hasn't stopped us booking for a third year. The property has a hairdryer and there are garden chairs, as well as an ironing board and iron, pegs, clothes airer and some cleaning equipment. The bathroom upstairs has a proper, good-size walk-in shower and the water pressure is great. It is worth noting that the stairs are quite steep. There is parking for two cars and the cottage is accessed via a very narrow lane. Luckily this only leads to the harbour view cottages so you very rarely meet anyone coming the other way!

Your description was not as good as we found the property.

It was much better than we expected. The only short coming for us was the settee was not comfortable for us but adequate. We would return as the outlook over the harbour is fantastic.

Harbour View is a lovely property in a fantastic location.

It is just a very short walk into Watchet. The sunsets were amazing! It was also extremely pleasant to sit in the garden and listen to the live music and the steam trains. Watchet is a very welcoming place with a wonderful sense of community. The only drawback to the cottage is the pale blinds in the bedrooms, needs either blackout blinds or curtains. The owner sent very good directions so the cottage was easy to find.

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely property which is in a great location and has superb views.

An interesting area to explore with nice local walks. A blackout blind in the main bedroom would help sleeping we think as it was very bright in there, other than that a better tv would help on bad weather days.

The cottage is lovely and very modern.

Great kitchen facilities and the 2 bathrooms are very convenient. The main bathroom has a great sized shower and the bedrooms are ample with comfortable beds. Great views of the harbour and very convenient for the town. Overall we passed a fantastic few days in Watchet.

We had an excellent stay at Harbour View Cottage.

It has been updated beautifully to provide a modern, welcoming, comfortable home away from home with all the things we could ask for including nice surprises too, like the postcards. We made great use of being so close to Watchet town for seafront walks, pub meals and town history. We are both quite arty and loved the changing views and sunsets for drawing and painting. We discovered the East Quay Art Centre in the new block building on the harbour.. how did we miss that from the info? :D It has a great coffee shop and lots to see and do for all ages in the colder months. The log burner was fabulous on the wintery nights and really heated up the whole house. I agree with a previous visitor, that the bedroom with the sea view is very cold and really needs another radiator/heater for the winter. All in all, a fabulous stay in beautiful cottage. Harbour cottage was all we hoped.

Very clean and comfortable and close to the towns cafes, pubs and shops. Lovely views across the harbour and easy to travel to the local sites although we found many of the tourist sites were closed for the winter which was a shame. Would definitely recommend.

The cottage itself is lovely and very comfortable, once you have got to grips with the central heating (for which no detailed instructions were supplied.

) The location is excellent with wonderful views. We were grateful to the owner who sent very detailed, specific directions which were very helpful.Parking is straightforward. However, the listing by Sykes is very inaccurate as there is not a gas hob; nor a gas fire and the fridge, as noted by previous guests is no longer a tall fridge freezer but an under worktop fridge with small freezer box. In addition, the listing clearly states that there is a DVD player. Having had previous experience of the intermittent television reception in Somerset, we took DVDs to watch in the evenings.We were very disappointed that this amenity was lacking.

We've just returned home from another great week at "Harbour Cottage".

We've spent a week in Autumn in this cottage for many years but the renovation before the 2022 season has transformed it into a much more convenient and comfortable space. There's lots to do and see in the Watchet area and there is a fantastic view over the Harbour from the cottage itself. Thoroughly recommended and we hope to stay there again next year.

Beautifully renovated cottage with wonderful views over Watchet and its harbour.

We were delighted with the cottage and have booked again for next year. I don't know who drafts the information about a property but we would have found it helpful to know in advance that of the two double beds one is a standard double and the other is king size. Also that the fridge only has a very small freezer compartment - only room for ice cubes and a bag of peas. A review from 2022 suggests that there is no washing maching. There is now a washing machine which is very useful when staying for two weeks. All in all the cottage is very well equipped with everything we needed provided.

Beautiful views from the main bedroom. I would reccomend this place (but bring salt, pepper and vinegar in case you want to eat some chips indoors!)

We fell in love with the cottage. The views were amazing. Sat up in bed and there was the sea. Just perfect. Every thing you need there for your stay.

We loved our stay at Harbour View Cottage, it was exactly as we’d hoped.

Sometimes pictures don’t tell a true story but in this case they were spot on. Beautiful views aswell, we even got snow during our stay which we enjoyed. The Sunday market was a bonus, made some yummy purchases. Would recommend The Star, we ate in there a couple of times, warm fire and friendly atmosphere. All in all we enjoyed our stay at Watchet.

Superb cottage in a great location.

Plenty to see and do in the area. Lovely view over The Esplanade, marina, and towards Wales. Variety of shops, pubs and cafes close by in town. The cottage is exceptionally clean (but it is early in the season) with 2 x double beds (no twin beds). The description of the cottage and the amenities is totally accurate. Not a place I would recommend if someone has mobility issues. The access and parking are out of the owners' control but it was a bit challenging at times as neighbouring properties have visiting tradesmen in large vans, and our car did get exceptionally dusty/gritty from building works. None of the latter would put us off of hiring the property again.

The cottage was very comfortable, kitchen well equipped with plenty of room to store provisions.

We managed to cook a turkey Christmas dinner. Very quiet and good location for a short walk into town. Ideally situated for exploring the area with easy access to the Quantocks, Coast and Exmoor. The Star Inn in Watchet was a very welcoming pub with good quality simple food. Would definitely stay in this area again and if available in the same cottage.

Harbour View Cottage is one of the cleanest cottages we have stayed at.

All furniture very comfortable too. Recent renovations done to a high standard. Wish we could have stayed longer, thanks for providing for a great week.

Our second time of staying at Harbour Cottage, and as expected we had a lovely time there.

It has had a major refurbishment since we stayed 2 yrs ago which has made it even better. For us it's a perfect place to stay with everything you need provided and so convenient to town and harbour. We wouldnt want to stay anywhere else when visiting Watchet, and cant wait to return in the future.

Lovely property situated in an idyllic location, close to amenities and the steam train station - highly recommend a trip.

Beautiful harbour view from the lounge window and upstairs main bedroom. The property was clean and well equipped. Only thing I believe it could do with is perhaps some books/games (such as Scrabble, and/or playing cards, including Uno) for winter nights. The majority of cottages/gites we have stayed in over the years provide these. I would definitely recommend a stay here, Watchet is a quaint place and the area is very pretty with lots of forest walks.

Love this cottage this is our second visit the views are superb, its so nice to sit in the garden and watch the harbour life and great to hear the steam train running by.

The cottage has everything needed for a chilled out stay the bedding is very clean and comfortable and the facilities are great. A perfect week, a perfect property in a perfect area.

The cottage was gorgeous, tastefully decorated, set in a really quiet location but very handy for the town.

The cottage was spotless and we didn’t want for anything. The cake and pint of milk were a nice touch. We particularly loved the sound of the steam trains as they went past.

We have appreciated the peace and quiet and loved the views out to sea from the house and garden. The recent renovations are to a high standard and there is everything provided for a great holiday.

Great cottage had a lovely chilled stay, the view is so good from the cottage and garden and the steam train runs along the bottom of the garden.

So much to see and great walks. Loved everything about the cottage the decor is great and just about everything you need is there, just two minor gripes we did think there was a washing machine when we first booked the cottage so we only took so many clothes but we coped, and the freezer section in the fridge is very small .The information to find the property was emailed and was excellent so made it easy to find. The local shop is only a five min walk if needed, we would recommend this property and will hopefully be returning soon.

VERY NICE PROPERTY

The cottage was easy to find with the directions sent to us a few days before.

It was wonderfully warm and cosy, with amazing views over the harbour. Our stay was peaceful and relaxing. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. Watchet town centre is an easy 5 minute walk and has everything you need. We hope to return one day.

The cottage has everything you need, the beds are really comfortable and the log fire is lovely to have on at night. The area around Watchet is great with so much to do. We can’t wait to return

Lovely location, a stones throw from the steam railway station and a few minutes walk into Watchet.

Cottage itself was very cosy and the garden out the back was a delight, tea and cake overlooking the harbour was a treat. Comfy beds and quiet at night so we all slept well. All in all a lovely stay.

The property was fine, clean and comfortable.

It’s just the price that was far too high for this level of accommodation. £259 per night should get absolute top notch accommodation and facilities.

heating was all over the place,cold in the evenings.

there was instructions to change it but was not confident to do so. Sofas are very low and soft making it very difficult to get out of for 60 somethings like us! was looking forward to returning next year but the prices have risen to more than we can afford(ridiculously so).Such a shame!

Cozy cottage, close to harbour with fabulous sea views.

Spotlessly clean with everything we needed.

On arrival kitchen surfaces still had bread crumbs on it so did the toaster dust on appliances grease on extractor hood, fridge was dirty freezer was dirty kitchen and dining room wooden floor was filthy.

We was told the property would be deep cleaned it wasn’t and because we had vulnerable people with us I set to to do the cleaning. I emailed the owner who apologised and said i the cleaner must have run out of time but no cleaner came back and nothing was sorted. As for Covid protection it was NOT fit for purpose and I feel strongly that I should expect some compensation even just for my time cleaning.

Met expectations in the main but building work straight outside cottage was not mentioned by anyone so to wake every day in your holiday to drilling and building was not the best experience.

We would have at least liked to have known so I have contacted the owner who thought it was over and also then thought it would be done soon this is not correct and will not be done until end of summer so other bookings need to be aware for this year. They have assured me they will tell others. No welcome parcel at all not even some tea and little milk for late arrivals so glad we are always organised.

Perfect location for the harbour, just a few minutes walk. The owners were very pleasant and helpful when we needed to ring them. Despite nothing really being open till next week, we loved Watchet and had some good walks. Dunster nearby was also a scenic town to visit.

Just managed to fit in our holiday at Harbour View Cottage prior to second lockdown, and so glad we did.

The cottage was perfect for us especially with things as they are. We felt perfectly safe as cottage was covid safe and we could shield quite easily if we chose to. The cottage is comfy, warm and is very well equiped, we wanted for nothing. Bed were comfy, clean and bedding was of a high quality, which made you feel cared for and looked after. The view is spectacular, even when weather bad. It's only few mins walk from harbour and town and if you like steam trains the line is at bottom of garden, unfortunately they weren't running while we were there. Plenty to do in surrounding area too owners are helpful and friendly if you need help. Will certainly be going back again, hopefully several times and in summer next time.

Advantages:Convenient Location, very good view, well heated, comfortable beds, plenty of storage space for clothes and personal items, comfortable sitting room with good view over harbour.

Disadvantages: Very small kitchen, limited storage space for food and drink items, small shower room with no bath, small shower with no hand rails for elderly and less able people, no seperate toilet (toilet in shower room), location of toilet downstairs is inconvenient for nighttime comfort calls (especially relevant for elderly!), dark dining room (no windows) Taken all round, the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages for us at present.

downstairs bathroom a bit of a problem for those of us who have to get up in the night, but it is what it is!

guests who don't clean pans etc properly, but not a lot you can do to educate them! the tv signal and wi-fi are weak, but again not something you can sort. most enjoyable week thank you, being close to town is a great asset and the views are amazing. already booked next year.

The cottage for us was ideally situated with the bus into Minehead running a good service.

There was a lovely market on the parade on Wednesday . We certainly found enough places to visit. The cottage was great it felt homely as soon as we walked in. We would certainly recommend you to friends.

It has the most amazing view of the harbour and it is very comfortable. Everything you can think of is supplied and the host demonstrates good communication and answers any questions you may have and are very supportive. We felt thoroughly looked after. We highly recommend this property and will be staying every year!

Lovely cottage with great views across the harbour- sunsets were incredible .

Very comfortable beds , quality linens and feather duvets and pillows meant a great sleep every night. Although small, everything we needed was available. The only improvement really would be a bit more crockery, mugs etc as we ran out quickly and be aware there is no washing machine - I didn’t read the listing properly- my mistake not theirs. The best beaches a little further afield and we drove into Devon a lot but Dunster beach was a great late find- avoid the ‘ muddy’ Blue anchor! Overall a really sweet cottage, comfortably and thoughtfully furnished, with great views that normally come at a much heftier price. A great base

Best location we have ever stayed in at Watchet.

The house had plenty of character. Bedrooms were spacious and beds very comfortable. General cleanliness was a little disappointing and we actually found fungus growing under the step to the kitchen. (Found whilst we were actually cleaning). Other than that the kitchen was on the small side but adequate for what we needed to do. I would have no hesitation in booking the property again in the future though

The view from the cottage is really amazing.

The cottage is very nice. The children enjoyed having a playground close to the cottage. As we had a lovely weather we have been able to enjoy the seaside!! We loved fossil hunting, the coastal footpath and the very nice beach of Minehead.

Cottage was clean and fantastic location but I was somewhat surprised to be told on instructions regards the wi fi code Not to download adult content!

Found this slightly offensive myself but my teenagers found it hilarious especially as there was a 50 shades of grey book on the shelf... For this reason only I would not be returning to this cottage

Nice warm cosy cottage, excellent directions and information.

Ideal location over looking the harbour. However, need to be aware that staying out of high season does mean not all attractions and restaurants are open.

Excellent cottage in a great location, really handy for the amenities of Watchet.

Only tricky part was finding the key box in the dark on arrival as it's not on the front of the property itself but on one of the buildings/sheds oppposite.

Lovely cottage, only thing was we arrived as stated after 4.

30, it was dark and raining and as Sykes had sent the code for the key safe I didn't think there would be a problem. The key safe was tucked away at the property and there were several other decoys! The owner had sent an email telling us where it was but that had gone to spam and as I said I had the code so wasn't expecting any other email so didn't check spam!

Excellent cottage, very comfortable and situated in Watchet, one of our favourite holiday destinations on the UK.

Have nothing but praise for Juliet, the property owner, who promptly sorted out a minor problem when we reported it. We will definitely go back there for another holiday in a year or so.

Cottage was an excellent choice, great position, amazing views, although it was well equiped if you wanted to cook and eat in there are so many lovely places to eat in and around Watchet, we managed a different venue every night.

The Salvation Army Coffee Morning on Friday 9.30-11.30 is worth a visit, open to all, very warm welcome offering Tea, Coffee and Cake just 50p each and you can watch the trains as the hall overlooks the station.

We were given very clear information from the cottage owner of everything we needed to know before we left.

The cottage was really clean and tidy on arrival. The location of this cottage was amazing.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cottage and location.

Lovely views from the cottage overlooking the harbour and everything was so close to hand.

house location was great and so convenient for the town and local shops ie short walk over the rail crossing and into the car park at the back of the shops.

Views were great and the steam railway at the "end of the garden" was a bonus. The only drawback for us...and this was a personal thing...was that the bathroom was downstairs and am used to an en suite. it was lovely to sit in the garden in the afternoon/evening with our drink it was so quiet and plenty of birds enjoying the bird bath in the garden! Great views - it was a joy to wake up in the morning to open the blinds and see the harbour and sea. Lucky for us the weather was fine. Our first visit ot Somerset. Did find the roads a bit of a problem....ie it took ages to get anywhere ,,,,down the narrow bendy and twisty roads when we are used to main road and motorways.
