It is a very well equipped and comfortable place to stay in Watchet. Communication with owner was excellent. Very well situated in the village. Lovely flowers and snacks on arrival.

“The Old Lighthouse cottage is in a great central location in Watchet.”

The sea view from the kitchen/lounge/diner is a real bonus! The welcome pack is thoughtful and varied and the kitchen is very well equipped. The sitting area is cosy for the evenings, the beds are are really comfy - we slept so well! The cottage is quirky, we liked the various feature and it is so quiet at night. Amy was very helpful providing information. We had a wonderful holiday!

“The cottage overlooked the harbour from the upstairs main room where the owner thoughtfully supplied binoculars.”

Great for harbour walks. The owner was helpful, caring and supportive. Our only concern was the flight of stairs to the upper living accommodation floor and feel it would make the cottage unsuitable for those with physical problems. The cottage is advertised as having steep stairs with a rope one side and certainly this is so but we would recommend great care be taken when accessing the third floor. Nevertheless a relaxing few days spent in a comfortable cottage with all needs supplied Thankyou.

“The Old Lighthouse is an interesting property to stay in.”

It is a lovely peaceful location close to the shops, harbour and heritage railway. But it would not suit everyone. The “upside down” accommodation, with the living room/kitchen being at the top means negotiating the stairs frequently. The last flight being steep & on a spiral with a rope handrail. Not suitable for those with any mobility issues. Dog owners should be aware. Nice touch to have milk in the fridge and some snacks. Parking, other than for unloading/loading is not possible but the owner does arrange for a parking permit for use in any of the nearby P&D car parks.

Thank you for your review Ian. We are really pleased you had a good stay. In regards to the cottage layout we opted for a kitchen/living room on the top floor so guests can enjoy the harbour view from the dining area. It does require another flight of stairs, but we felt the effort was worth it, especially to watch the sunsets. Unfortunately, due to the age of the cottage, we are unable to alter the quaint but steep second staircase. However, we do highlight the stairs in the property details section to try and ensure guests are informed before they book. “A wonderful well equipped cottage close to all amenities.”

Generous welcome package was very much appreciated. Very clean and a fabulous view across the harbour. Owner responded really quickly to a query. Stairs as described but hasn’t put us off wanting to book again (and we’re not spring chickens!). Would highly recommend.

“Excellent location!”

Just behind the esplanade pub. Beds were comfy. Lovely food and drink package left (milk, butter, bread, cheese, Prosecco). They also had teas and coffee. Beautiful views from the kitchen/ living room space Main bathroom was a little small if I had to criticise, however the shower was lovely and hot and powerful! There is no wardrobe in the ground floor bedroom, however there are drawers under the bed and also a hanging rail with a few hangers to use

“It's a lovely property.”

As described. Great to have some provisions awaiting us. Booked car parking was a bonus. Maybe just explain that the expiry time is flexible? Good communication. Perhaps a checkout time of 11am would be better. The bundles of local info were very useful but didn't see them at first tucked away in the corner. Thanks for everything.

“Lovely property, extremely well-situated in Watchet.”

It was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The upside down layout afforded great views over the harbour. A welcome pack was there on arrival and was generous and much appreciated. Watchet itself is a charming place with friendly people. It was within easy access of beaches, Exmoor and plenty of places to visit. There are lots of information leaflets and even OS maps to use if you are walking. We had a lovely holiday. Thank you!

Watchet is a delightful, small Somerset harbour town with a maritime history going back over two millennia, where visitors may enjoy the variety of quaint shops on offer and watch the boats in the marina. Watchet attracts railway enthusiasts from all around, as The West Somerset Railway, twenty miles of preserved steam railway, passes through Watchet and continues through stunning scenery to the coastal town of Minehead, approximately nine miles away. There are superb walks along the coast from Watchet, while towards St Audries in the east, the Quantock Hills rise to 1,000 feet above the sea and the Brendon Hills and Exmoor are to the west, within easy reach.
