“Excellent accommodation ideally located to tour all the amazing sights in nearby Wiltshire, Somerset and Dorset.”

Very well maintained, clean and comfortable with all the facilities you need for your stay. Good parking and decent pub just over the road which has a good range of beers and food on the menu. Nearby Shaftesbury has a nice range of shops and eating places to try. The property is situated in Motcombe a nice friendly and welcoming village, close to the A30,A303,A350.Would recommend this property.

Very well maintained, clean and comfortable with all the facilities you need for your stay. Good parking and decent pub just over the road which has a good range of beers and food on the menu. Nearby Shaftesbury has a nice range of shops and eating places to try. The property is situated in Motcombe a nice friendly and welcoming village, close to the A30,A303,A350.Would recommend this property.

Photo of property actually shows 3 properties which we didn't realise until we arrived. Although property is small, it is adequate for 3 people. Any issues were dealt with quickly.

“2nd stay at this lovely cottage in the beautiful setting of Motcombe, Dorset.”

It is a superb location for touring Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset. There is a nice pub opposite the location supplying good beer with a decent food menu. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay, was clean, tidy and well maintained.

“Very nice cottage and extremely clean with comfy beds.”

The owner left teabags, coffee etc but we didn't use them as I had brought some just in case there were none there. It was a nice touch though. Well sited for visiting the area with plenty of nice dog walking routes.

“The Cider Press We really enjoyed our week’s stay at the Cider Press, Coppleridge and wish it could have been longer!”

The well laid out property, all on one level, was beautifully clean and attractive. The beds, the sofa and chair were really comfortable. The heated towel rail meant the bathroom and the thick white towels provided were warm when one emerged from enjoying a powerful and invigorating shower. Everything we needed for a happy visit was provided including milk, tea, coffee and biscuits to welcome us after our long journey. The parking was excellent and the setting in the countryside meant it was quiet and peaceful. Having a pub, The Coppleridge Inn, hosted by a friendly landlord, that served food, just steps away, was very convenient. The property was well sited close to Shaftesbury a pleasing market town. We had easy access to a great many attractions further afield, and driving through the glorious scenery to reach them added to our delight. Top of the list of National Trust venues we visited was Kingston Lacy. Set in beautiful gardens, it is filled with fabulous paintings and treasures, and manned by superb volunteer room guides. Among the many other places we enjoyed were Tintinhull Gardens, Corfe Castle, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door… oh and Lyme Regis which completely won my heart. From being comfortable at the house to enjoying exploring the area we think is the place to stay is the Cider Press and thoroughly recommend it. Maureen

“Excellent cottage with superb amenities.”

A great base to tour the area with outstanding and beautiful countryside. A very nice welcome from the owner when we arrived. The community run village shop has many provisions available including a Post Office counter, a rarity these days. Plenty to do and see with some excellent pubs and restaurants across the counties that border the cottage location with the lovely town of Shafesbury 2 miles away with it's many independent shops, well worth a visit. Needless to say we will be returning in 2024. A very happy traveller.

The cottage was exactly as advertised and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Although there was only two of us, having the extra bedroom gave us space to store our suitcases and to spread out a little. Everything was super clean and tidy and it was also nice to meet the owners who introduced themselves when we arrived. The location was great and we were able to visit lots of places nearby and further afield. We took a fan with us due to the heatwave, but the cottage was relatively cool inside which was good. We would have no hesitation in recommending a stay at The Cider Press.

The pub just across the road that did excellent food. The fact my 14 month old dog was allowed at the cottage and pub. Beautiful Stourton National Trust 15 mins away. I going back I just loved it. Ps The bed was so comfy and luxurious.

“Location of holiday cottage is excellent as there is a first class pub - Coppleridge Inn - only about 100 yards away that serves good food at a reasonable price AND is very dog friendly.”

On the first evening we went there were around 10 dogs in the "doggy" area! The cottage was clean & welcoming and equipped very well. If you enjoy walking, this is an excellent base. We undertook spectacular walks centred on Cerne Abbas & Compton Abbas, both of which are only around 20 minutes drive away.

It has everything you would want for a great holiday - a well-equipped kitchen, abundant hot water, comfortable beds, lots of fluffy white towels, cosy warm sitting room, fast wi-fI, very attractive decor inside and a generous outside space. Caroline and Rupert made us feel so welcome and are very thoughtful. We really appreciated the tea and biscuits that greeted us on arrival after a hot drive from London, all the leaflets about things to do in the area, and their advice, tips and directions. The Cider Press is in a brilliant location, only 3 miles from Shaftesbury which is a beautiful English town, close to several stunning National Trust properties, not far from the amazing Dorset costline, AND right opposite a pub which has a fabulous view from the outside terrace. We will definitely be going back.

Hosting two bedrooms; a double, and a single, along with a shower room, this property can sleep up to four people.

To the outside is off-road parking, and a shared gravel seating area to the front, and a lawn garden to the side.

The thriving village of Motcombe lies on the edge of North Dorset’s Blackmore Vale, just 3 miles from the ancient hilltop town of Shaftesbury. Motcombe has its own friendly community shop, post office and well-regarded country pub, The Coppleridge Inn. The local town of Shaftesbury, with a good range of shops and inns, is perched on a spur of rolling green hills with spectacular views reaching far across the rural landscape. One of the best vantage points is from Gold Hill (instantly recognisable as the setting of the iconic Hovis advert with its quaint, cobbled and very steep street. Motcombe sits amidst rolling countryside at the edge of the picturesque Blackmore Vale, and close to the Cranborne Chase AONB as well as many other areas of natural beauty and exceptional heritage, including the National Trust’s Stourhead. A wonderful location to explore the best of the West Country, and only just over an hour’s drive to the stunning Jurrassic Coast.
