“Review of Boundys House Whilst we appreciate that the building is listed we felt that the state of some of the facilities and the cleanliness left a lot to be desired.”

The huge crack in the kitchen sink is surely a hygiene issue as is the lack of grouting between the tiles in both the bathroom and the toilet. The entrance porch had that many cobwebs that it looked like it not been cleaned in a while. The level of dust (and in some cases dead flies) on the sash windows told a similar story. The top of the cooker hood had a layer of grease on it – when you consider how often guests use the cooker (the guest book is full of comments about guests eating out) ...

The top of the cooker hood had a layer of grease on it – when you consider how often guests use the cooker (the guest book is full of comments about guests eating out) this cannot have been cleaned for a long time. This lack of attention to maintenance and cleaning shows something of a disrespect to guests.

The property

3 miles from St Ives, on the main road leading to Lelant (pretty village, sandy beach), a beautifully restored, Grade II listed, semi-detached cottage, once a shop with parts originating from the 18th cent..

Large and lovely enclosed garden (table/chairs) with lawn, mature shrubs and trees, a small pond (netted) and plenty of space for surfboards/bicycles/kayaks. Inside, lots of character with beams and low lintels (lowest 5'8").

Gates to porch (space for boots/shoes/coats).

Door and 2 steps down into airy kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, gas cooker) with slate floor and ornamental fireplace.

Cosy sitting room with large inglenook (open fire) and window seat.

Big, smart double-aspect living room with TV/DVD, sofas and chaise longue.

Dining room.

Steep stairs (rope rail, stairgate) up to three bedrooms up a step from landing - a large double (5' bed), another double, and, up 2 more steps, a twin; bathroom (suite, shower over bath); loo.

About the location

ST IVES

Penzance 6 miles.

One of Cornwall's prettiest harbour towns, St Ives offers narrow streets, tight-packed cottages nestling around the quayside, the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth museum, fabulous beaches, superb shops, a thriving community of artists, great pubs and restaurants and much more. With its semi Bohemian lifestyle and romantic air, it's easy to see why this is the county's premier holiday resort. The surrounding area has much for the visitor to see and do with abundant wildlife, fabulous coastal walks, top quality surfing and the Celtic mysteries of the Land's End Peninsula are all within easy reach. A superb destination!

Note: this cottage has quirky features due to its age and so there are low beams in the living room and some doorways may be a little shorter than average, the stairs is also a little steeper than average and have ropes to hold on to rather than banisters.
