The Stone Barn Cottage

This is a lovely property in an idyllic location, ideally situated for exploring the area, but not ideal for dog walking as most of the fields are restricted use.

Kate and David are superb hosts and are on hand for any queries. The local pub The Church House Inn is well worth a visit for their great food, reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend their Sunday lunch.

We absolutely loved our stay!

Our hosts were incredible from start to finish, so welcoming, friendly and helpful. They showed us around when we arrived and gave us some great advice on what was nearby, which made settling in so easy. We brought our doggies with us and they absolutely loved it too! They quickly made themselves at home and became the village’s very own CCTV, keeping a close eye on everything happening outside through the lovely living room window!

The cottage was beautifully set in a beautiful part of Devon can't wait to go back thank you Katie and David. Loved feeding the chickens too.

Would highly recommend this property. Our couple of day here will never be forgotten, from eating in the community cafe to swimming in the River Dart each day. The cottage and surroundings were ideal for us and we can't wait to go back again. So, so peaceful we didn't want to leave.

We had a lovely stay, the hosts were welcoming friendly approachable and helpful.

A couple of things we picked up on, the heating was confusing except the log burner, new towels required especially T-towels, plus the damp in the bottom left bedroom needs addressing. The cottage is super creaky, and a light is required in the rear garden. But there is always something, the four of us had a great time in a great base. Best wishes Collin, Alyson, Tim, Sarah. & Frank, left my blue teddy, I have had it since birth.

The cottage is very comfortable and clean and is set in the most beautiful countryside. The garden has 360° views, qell worth sitting in with a tea or something a bit stronger. the bird song was lovely. We will definitely come again.

Lovely cottage and the owners were a delightful couple.

Very friendly and let our grand daughter help to feed their chickens. The gardens were brilliant for the dog all fenced off and was very safe for kids too. Good location for walks on Dartmoor and the food in the local pub was excellent.

A great week spent at the Stone Barn Cottage.

In a great location for long walks with our two dogs and close to a great country pub! The accommodation was great with all the amenities required and a great log burner to help us all warm up and dry off following some rainy walks! Would like to thank the owners David and Katherine for their hospitality and a great stay.

Had a great stay in the lovely stone barn.

Clean, comfortable and well equipped it was a great base for exploring South Devon and surrounding areas. The enclosed lawn at the side to the barn was ideal for Sweep the dog to run around in and for us to enjoy coffee outside in the morning. Beds and sofas very comfortable and a great power shower along with loads of room for parking David & Kate were great hosts and on hand if needed. There is lovely cafe in the village and the Tradesman Arms (5 min drive) serves good food with very welcoming staff. Returned to work the following week feeling very relaxed. Good pub 5 minutes walk away. Fantastic secure garden with lovely views. Owners next door were very friendly and helpful.

Holne is a Lovely small village in the Dartmoor park with very nice pub they do a great Sunday lunch.

The cottage is exactly as advertised upside down interior. Bedrooms downstairs lounge dinnig area upstairs which works. Access to the garden is from the lounge dining area the garden is large and laid to lawn and there are lovely views in all directions and sitting in the garden in the evenings we watched buzzards flying and hunting overhead. Their is a cast iron barbecue in the garden fuel is logs or charcoal. The hosts live next door and could not have been more helpful and the cottage is dog friendly dogs allowed on furniture just be careful of the stairs up to the lounge and garden a bit slippery for the dog the cottage has a well equipped kitchen everything you could need on suit bedrooms as advertised and comfy we had a lovely stay there

Lovely cottage in lovely surroundings.

The enclosed garden was excellent and our dog realky enjoyed the facility. The owners, David and Katherine, who lived next door were very helpful and friendly. The local pub was also very good with excellent food. The only downside to our stay was the narrow and winding lanes leading to the village; a situation mode worse during the week we were there by the temporary closure of a local bridge necessitating long and tortuous detours. That was just bad luck!

We had a warm welcome from the owners and the property had everything we needed.

Our two dogs were made welcome too and the enclosed garden was perfect for them. The directions were good and plenty of room for our car just outside the door. Loved seeing the chickens and lambs in the adjoining field and the local community shop/coffee shop from 11am - 3pm was a bonus. Pub Landlord very nice too. All in all, a great place to stay.

Great cottage, very well equipped and extremely comfortable beds.

Secure garden great for the dog and a fantastic view. Narrow lanes but expected in rural Devon. Close to moors with fab walks. Seeing the lovely dark sky stars was a treat for us city dwellers!

We love this house.

It is comfortable, easy for the dogs with a fenced garden, the owners next door are friendly and helpful, we’ll be booking again for next year. The house is well equipped , the beds are comfortable and all having an en suite is a great luxury. The kitchen is very well equipped although I as a short person struggle to reach into the cupboards above the fridge. Definitely 5 stars.

Had a lovely stay.

Very comfortable and clean. Only had a very minor problem in that the crockery is hard to reach over the top of the fridge/freezer. But otherwise a beautiful cottage. Definitely one of the best we have stayed in. Thank you so much for a lovely week even the weather was good.

A really quiet and restful few days in the Devon country side.

The Stone Barn is a quirky upside down cottage with everything you need to have a worry free break.Would return in a flash.

A very comfortable stay.

Highlights were; the comfortable bed; cozy evenings in front of the fire; underfloor heating in the bedrooms and best of all watching the sun rise over the moors whilst enjoying the first coffee of the day. Wonderful.

We had a wonderful stay at the Stone Barn Cottage for our new year's eve celebrations.

The cottage is absolutely beautiful, clean and comfortable. Bedrooms are very comfy and great that there are so many bathrooms. The kitchen/ living area was well equipped and the burner provided lovely warmth for for the not so great Dartmoor weather. The hosts greeted us on arrival by chance and they were lovely and welcoming. Amazing walks nearby down to the river and the local pub served delicious food and had lovely people! Would recommend to anyone wanting a countryside getaway!

. and it was lovely to meet them. The barn is very well situated near to many towns and walks, and swimming spots. Very close to the Dartmoor Way, and 2 Moors Way, and Holne is easily accessible from main routes. The village itself is friendly and welcoming, with a great little shop/cafe, excellent pub and a second hand book shop. The lawned garden is a nice outside space (even in December for a hot cuppa wrapped up in our dryrobes!) with farmyard sounds and birdsong. Yes indeed we hope to return!

Lovely upside down cottage in a stunning part of Devon.

Comfortable, cosy and very well equipped for a perfect few days in the sun ! The garden was stunning with beautiful views. It was great to have a bathroom for each bedroom and plenty of parking for 3 cars. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

The cleanliness was disappointing, as there was dust, cobwebs and spiders around the property.

The cottage was very comfortable and had all the facilities that we needed.

It was great to have a separate bathroom for each bedroom for convenience. The open living and dining areas worked well for us with all the modern appliances we needed and comfortable sofas to relax on. The garden was a wonderful sunny area to sit in, relax and admire the views. The location was lovely and quiet with the bonus of having a superb pub 100 yards away.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The accommodation was clean and comfortable. We had lots of walks with the dogs. So, it was well placed in a quiet village location. Would visit again.

The cottage is lovely and all the images and descriptions are an accurate indication of what you can expect.

The self contained garden has stunning views of the countryside. Additionally, the local shop is a real treasure trove of local produce. Highly recommended.

Excellent stay and extremely dog friendly cottage.

The location is ideal for walks and beach visits are nearby. The cottage itself has everything you need (although 6 persons may be a liitle tight) and the enclosed garden is great for the dogs to run around and do their business. Owners are on hand to deal with any issues and made us feel welcome whilst at the same time giving us space. You may require to purchase additional logs if you visit during a cold spell and we were unfortunate to experience a day of no electric (due to storms) so left a little earlier than planned. No reflection on the property or owners. Book this cottage and you will not be disappointed.

There was everything we needed for a perfect stay.

We only shopped for food. The owners, Katy and David, showed us how to adjust the heating as we wanted it and gave us eggs when we arrived and to bring home - delicious. Dave and Sarah Evans

Absolutely loved our time at The Stone Barn Cottage - I couldn’t recommend it more.

The hosts were friendly, and even let us help ourselves to the fresh eggs laid by the chickens they keep! The cottage itself was clean and well-presented, and in an ideal location. The enclosed garden was lovely and spacious, perfect for sitting outside and taking in the surrounding views. The property is located near to the local tea rooms and village shop, which were lovely to visit. We were also in walking distance of the River Dart, which is definitely worth visiting! Definitely the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed at, and would love to go back soon! :)

Superb accommodation and location.

Hosts were extremely helpful and welcoming, we found the cottage well equipped and clean, large enclosed garden was excellent. Village had a well stocked village shop and lovely tea room both within walking distance, would absolutely recommend for exploring the area.

Stonebarn Cottage was exceptionally comfortable and well-equipped.

We had very poor weather and I was on crutches, so our usual holiday activities, which involve walking and enjoying the outdoors, were not really feasible. The cottage was the perfect home from home. Holne is a pleasant village with a shop and tearoom, and is well located close to the edge of Dartmoor. Our dog enjoyed local walks and loved the garden.

Very nice and helpful hosts. The cottage was very clean. It had a lot of space and was furnished very conveniently. The small village (Holne) has a shop and a nice inn and it is a good starting point for hiking tours (e. g. to the river).

Lovely converted barn out in the village of Holne beautiful countryside and set in a lovely valley with a lovely big garden with views to die for all around.

The stone barn has all you need comfy beds ensuite showers and toilets washing machine tumble dryer and dishwasher. Nice big table and benches in the huge back garden overlook the valley there is a local village shop and a cafe . The barn is upside down you sleep downstairs and have the views upstairs big spacious lounge with an inviting log burner, the owners Dave and Katie are the perfect hosts.

The cottage was well placed for visiting Dartmoor and coastal towns.

We were very lucky with our holiday dates because they coincided with a fair at Widdecombe in the More which was very near to us and gave us a brilliant day out. There we saw "Bill Brewer, Jan Stewer, Peter Gurney, Peter Davey, Dan'l Widden, 'Arry'Awke, an 'Auld Uncle Tom Coblie An' All" an also Tom Pearce on his old gray mare.

Both in your brochure and in the email confirmations it states that towels are not included at this property, but they were.

Although this was a pleasant surprise on arrival, we could have saved the space in the car as these are quite bulky. I would have given a better score for cleanliness as the property had been cleaned well, but as we started to use cutlery and crockery, some of this still had food on.
