What guests are saying
We had a lovely time at Huscox cottage.
The views across the countryside was stunning especially as the sun shone most days. We explored the coastal paths which were not far away. The county lanes from the cottage were narrow and I can imagine in the Summer, that might be a challenge at times. We had to call out the caretaker and he was lovely and came out immediately. We would recommend this cottage if you would like some peace and quiet
In our opinion this property is certainly not 4 stars.
We booked for two weeks in June and spent less than 24 hours at Hiscox. Our first issue was the fridge freezer not working properly, our food was warm. When we reported this to the owner he was totally dismissive of our problem and all other issues. Cooking was made very difficult by a small ancient agar hob and tiny grill. The furnishings were not comfortable, it felt as if we were sitting in creator’s on the dining chairs. The bed mattresses downstairs absolutely needed replacing and we arrived to find the bedding wet in this room. We were so dissatisfied with many issues that we took successful legal action.
The house was well presented inside and out on arrival, exceptional views!
! Beds were comfortable and clean, and overall the property was a lovely place to stay. The location was beautiful and peaceful, and the views from the house really were a highlight of our holiday. There was plenty of space for us as a family and we felt very comfortable throughout our stay. The house itself was well equipped and had everything we needed for the week. We particularly enjoyed the outside space and being able to sit out and take in the surrounding countryside. It was a great base for exploring the area and we had a really lovely family holiday here. There were just a couple of things that could be improved. Unfortunately, the dishwasher didn’t seem to clean properly, despite us adding both rinse aid and dishwasher salt, so we ended up having to hand wash everything during our stay. On arrival, we also found that quite a few of the glasses, utensils and other kitchen items weren’t clean from the previous occupants, which we suspect may have been due to the dishwasher not working effectively. Two of the four sun loungers were also broken, which was a shame when we wanted to make use of the outside space. These were relatively small issues in comparison with everything we enjoyed about the property, but they would be worth addressing for future guests. Overall, we had a lovely stay in a beautiful setting and would happily recommend the house, particularly for its fantastic views, peaceful surroundings and comfortable accommodation.
