    “Could do woth some simplified instructions for the cooker and the recycling!”

    ! Only real downside to the property was the wifi connection. Everything else was great and a credit to te owner and the housekeeper.

    Thanks for your 100/100 review and helpful comments. We agree, the recycling in Cornwall is a bit of a nightmare! There are instructions, including a list of collection dates in the cottage visitors' folder. The oven, which is top of the range Neff, can also be a challenge. Although the operating manual is available to guests, we appreciate that this is not great holiday reading so we'll aim to write some basic instructions for the future. Finally, we acknowledge the mobile wifi struggles at times due, amongst other things, to the thick granite walls. Fortunately, full fibre broadband has just been installed in the village and we've arranged to be connected in early September, which is excellent news. We hope to welcome you back at some point to take advantage of this. Many thanks again. Property Owner

The property

Characterful tin miner’s cottage close to Porthleven and some beautiful beaches.

Set in the peaceful village of Ashton which lies just over a mile from the coastal path and picturesque sandy cove at Rinsey, where beach goers and surfers follow the winding footpath down towards the hidden sands and rock pools below the old mine stack that pin points this lovely piece of coastline. There is a family run pub within a short 2 minute stroll whilst Porthleven is just 3 miles from Driftwood Cottage, with its array of restaurants, cafes, pubs and gift shops.

Walkers will delight in the stunning views from the coastal footpath leading to the nearby Loe Bar and beyond, and for those keen to catch their own supper, fishing trips leave from the harbour throughout the summer season.

Famous St Michael's Mount at Marazion and the ancient market town at Helston are a ten minute drive in opposite directions, whilst St Ives, Falmouth and Penzance can be reached within a 30 minute drive. A charming gated garden leads into this charismatic cottage that was once a traditional miner's cottage dating as far back as the 1800s.

Carefully restored with exposed granite walls and beamed ceilings, the rooms are full of character.

A wood burning stove creates a cosy atmosphere in the comfortable sitting room.

The well presented dining room has an open aspect into the well equipped kitchen where a door leads outside.

Stairs lead up to two very attractive bedrooms decorated to a high standard with the use of pastel shades and soft furnishings whilst the twin room has distant views of the sea.

There is an enclosed rear garden with attractive patio.

Off road parking available to the front of the property.

Helston lies at the western gateway to the Lizard Peninsula, a large area of downland fringed by a beautiful and spectacular coastline. Helston is a pleasant busy market town famous for it's Flora Day Festival and the many stories and legends about the "Furry Dance" are told in the fascinating Helston Folk Museum. Nestled in a tranquil setting is the National Seal Sanctuary on the Helford River, where there is plenty of entertainment watching seals play and feed. If it is thrill rides that excites you, then Flambards theme park will keep you amused all day and also has excellent living history experiences. Further afield is the harbour town of Falmouth to the east and Land's End to the west. Helston is a wonderful holiday destination offering plenty of attractions for the whole family. By car reach numerous outstanding beaches, including Porthleven Beach, Praa Sands Beach, and Gunwalloe Church Cove Beach, with Loe Bar offering a dog-friendly landscape, along with the chance to join the stunning Cornish coastal path.
