  • “The Roost had recently been renovated to a very high standard and provided us with a wonderfully comfortable base for our week’s stay.”

So much thought had been put into the decor with Alan’s beautiful paintings a major feature. Recliner chairs, garden furniture with cushions, a huge relaxing bath and shower, all adding to the comfort. Parking was very easy which was helpful after negotiating the narrow local lanes! Amanda and Alan were helpful owners, nearby if we needed anything.

The property

The Roost is a romantic, boutique bolthole for two created from a single storey stone barn, hidden in lanes on Cornwall’s beautiful Lizard peninsula.

A mile from the traditional fishing village of Porthallow and two miles from the pretty village of St Keverne, this is a luxurious base in an area of outstanding beauty.

Beautifully renovated with much flair and style The Roost has been decorated and furnished in jewel tones to create a unique and harmonious retreat for couples seeking a relaxing stay.

To one side there is a stylish slate terrace with table and chairs plus a swing seat – ideal for admiring the panoramic views across rolling countryside towards Falmouth Bay – or in the evening looking up at the canopy of stars (no light pollution here!).

Inside the reception space is open plan with lofty beams and lots of original artwork.

The stylish modern kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need to rustle up some culinary delights and intimate meals.

The living area is home to a reclining chair and a plump sofa plus a Smart TV and a woodburning stove - perfect for snuggly nights in with a book or a good film.

The bedroom with king size bed is painted restful colours and has a free standing bath – perfect for soaking away after a day exploring the coastal path.

There is also a very smart shower room (suite) with double shower.

With some of the best coastline and prettiest fishing villages Cornwall offers this makes a great base to explore.

Visit nearby Roskilly’s where you can wander through the meadows and ponds, meet the animals and sample the famous ice cream. Follow the South West Coast Path through the picturesque Cornish fishing villages of Porthallow and Porthoustock and enjoy the beautiful coastal views across Falmouth Bay to St. Anthony's Head. Explore the magical creeks of the Helford passage where at St Anthony-in-Meneage you can hire boats, or indulge in a little wild river swimming. Enjoy a pub lunch at Coverack with its little harbour and beautiful beach at low tide, you may even spot a Dolphin or two from here.
