“Once again, an amazing stay at Heightley House.”

The views, the cleanliness, the comfort and facilities at the house are the reasons we come back year after year. The views are just the best, and we love Trebarwith Strand and Tintagel. Thank you once again for a lovely stay, and thanks also to Rainbow for all of her hard work.

The property

In Treknow, four Victorian terraced houses perched high with terrific views down the Trebarwith Strand beach valley through big bay windows.

We let two.

The houses are on three levels with about 10 steps from the lane up to their front doors.

At the back, each has a long, enclosed garden (table/chairs) on various levels, with a gate at the top leading to a back lane and parking.

A few hundred yards down the lane, a good food pub/restaurant (remember torch!).

Friendly all-year-round family houses, well placed for beach, walking and exploring north Cornwall.

Not suitable for people with limited mobility.

Heightley House is homely and comfortable.

From front garden, door to hall.

Living room with open fire, TV/DVD, iPod dock and great views.

Big kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, microwave, fridge-freezer, electric cooker) with original Delabole slate floor.

Back porch leading to loo and door with a few steps up to the garden.

From hall, stairs (stairgates) up to two bedrooms - a double (5' bed) with great views including glimpse of sea, and a twin; bathroom (suite, bath, with separate shower).

More stairs up to second floor and another twin bedroom with great views and TV.

Treknow: hamlet of mostly old cottages, a mile from the fine sand/surf beach of Trebarwith Strand.

Tintagel, about 1 mile.

Superb coastal walks.

Golf, leisure centre and riding at Camelford (small town, pubs, shops, restaurant on the River Camel), 6 miles.

About the location

TREKNOW

Boscastle 4.9 miles; Padstow 19.9 miles

This small village and civil parish lies on the north coast of Cornwall in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, some four miles north-west of Camelford. It boasts a slate quarrying history and was also once home to a small copper mine in the latter years of the 18th century. It has a village hall and small hotel, yet there is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area, which is dominated by glistening waters, rocky coves and spectacular scenery each way you turn. Tintagel, home of the legendary King Arthur’s Castle, is merely a stone's throw away, a popular but not overcrowded tourist destination. Several beaches, including nearby Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove, are within easy reach and surfing is the main attraction for those who love the water. It is littered with pubs and restaurants and the Old Post Office (National Trust) is a must for any visitor. The South West Coast Path passes through the village and in both directions, it winds its way along the cliffs, down to the water’s edge through dramatic countryside. Head north along the path and in 2.5 miles is the pretty village of Boscastle with its narrow valley leading down towards the raging sea. Further afield are the surfing meccas of Newquay and Bude. The vast landscapes of Bodmin Moor, the largest indoor rainforest at the Eden Project and the Camel Estuary are all within a 40-minute drive, plus the colourful harbour at Padstow beckons with traditional pubs and delicious seafood.
