“What a wonderful stay at the BoltHole.”

Very peaceful, clean, comfy beds and loved the private walled garden. Some of the prettiest cottages in Throwleigh and most speactacular scenery.all around the area. Particularly the ancient path road just above us the Throwleigh, and wild swimming in Shilley Pool. The cake was indeed delicious and along with other treats so generous and welcoming. Had many a fun evening in the pub garden opposite and sampled Simones delicious cooking, fish caught from their boat and lamb shanks. Most unusual ...

Thankyou for a most memorable stay xxx

The property

In the tiny edge-of-the-moor hamlet of Wonson, alongside a small, friendly pub (good food) and a lane-mile from Throwleigh, three cottages carefully and lovingly renovated from a long barn; we let two comfortable, welcoming cottages.

Driveway leads to the parking area at the front, with views over the little pub garden to fields and moor beyond.

Behind, each cottage has its own enclosed, private garden.

A great base for exploring beautiful, dramatic moorland just a few minutes’ walk from the door. The Bolthole is mid-row with own lawned garden with gravelled seating area (table/chairs, barbecue) behind.

Inside, the cottage has been laid out with great care and is light and airy with lots of thoughtful, homely touches.

From the parking area, 2 steps up to glazed door into spacious kitchen/dining area (slimline dishwasher, microwave, under counter fridge, electric cooker, additional small fridge/freezer available under the stairs), leading to the living room with handsome original beams, woodburner, TV/DVD, Sonos music system and Wii.

Stairs up to two pretty bedrooms with vaulted ceilings - a double with huge 6' bed, and another large, bright double (zip-linked 6' bed or twin); bathroom (suite, shower over bath, complementary bathrobes and slippers for use during stay). Throwleigh: little village (pretty church) in lanes below Dartmoor’s edge, on the lovely Mariners’ Way walk.

½ mile to pub, and to open moor; 2 to service station (shop); 5 to Chagford and Okehampton (golf, tennis, indoor pool, leisure centre, cinema).

Exeter, 18.

Fishing and riding not far.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
